Hi. My name is Wesley and I live in San Diego, about 5 min. from downtown.
I am currently searching for very serious individuals to practice and hone their nlhe skills with, first cash games and then tournaments. I'm looking for individuals who are self-motivated and have ambition for the being the best. Pretty much I am trying to form a poker team similiar to an mma camp (if anyone follows mixed martial arts, the best do this all the time) with the sole intention of each individual going from novice to pro, in the shortest amount of time possible BUT with solid consistency of either building your bankroll or winning titles (or at least making it to the final table consistently) AND ultimately playing at the highest stakes in the world. 9 people (10 people including myself) for completion of the team. You don't have to possess any skill whatsoever BUT YOU MUST HAVE THE AMBITION.

I'm looking for the following:
- Male or female over the age of 21.
- Can get along with others (this is a BIG PREREQUISITE and if you can't, don't even try) but can turn that serious switch on.
- Professional mindset
- Someone who doesn't smoke or drink.
- Has reliable transportation.
- Has a reliable method of communication to exchange notes and skill build effectively.
- Has the time availability to play either Saturday or Sunday UNINTERRUPTED with the entire team in a no holds bar session to simulate the real deal.

Let me know if you are interested.

Maybe Zappa can help. Most of his home games resemble MMA matches.

Don't understand how being a smoker has any weight. But its your team. Your rules.

I don't smoke and have kids. Playing at a B&M where you have to deal with smoking is one thing but I would rather be surrounded with individuals who don't smoke ... you know .... playing a home game smelling like smoke if the place you are playing at allows smoking (nasty) or waiting for someone to come back from a smoke break (annoying). Someone who takes care of themselves speaks volumes about who they are.

Oh BTW ... thanks Schmendr1ck ... I will look into it.

Sounds good, ImBroke420. Welcome to S.D. by the way. I don't know too much about Zappa because I'm rather new myself but you can try to send him an email and see what happens. Good luck with that.

I'm interested if there is going to be some quality players and discussion taking part. I have been ranked in the top 10% of all online players 2 of the last three years, and have been working hard this year to break out live. I recently relocated to SD from FL and live in the OB area.

It would all depend on what your definition of "quality" is, dan_dada. I can tell you this ... there is definitely going to be discussions taking place ... as well as studying, working and practicing the game in all its different elements. I just want to make sure that individuals who want this are self-driven and highly motivated. Just like you, I have been working hard at my game and have goals that I want to achieve. Email me if you are serious about getting the ball rolling on this.

I'm down for this. I've been trying to get Skype groups going and I've been in some actually but either people don't care too much, or just can't do it because of other commitments, or other issues that keep popping up.

Well, at least you are being realistic.

As long as you get a group of determined people that want to do this and will put the time and effort into it, and they are not morons this can work out (if not for all for at least part of them.)

It's what I am trying to do, so in case our friend here doesn't reply back I'm still down to creating / admining such a group. Hit me with PMs.

I am totally down to do this but have been crazy busy this week. Anyone going to Commerce this weekend for end of Cal St. Poker Champ?

I drove out there every day for the past two weeks. I'm not playing the ME though (out of my roll)

That's a joke of a tournament. I would rather play the Oceans 11 which has the same structure / guarantee on Saturday and I don't have to drive hours to go to it.

And ya I made pretty deep runs but I just broke even for the series (I played like 10 tournies.)

True, True, I really don't know much about the good/bad tourneys around here. Figured the FB one would blow away the guar. and cash games are good there but same goes for Oceans. What about this ridiculous $1M multiday thing at the Bike next week, your thoughts on that one.

I played in one Oceans MTT evening on a Thursday or something and it sucked bad, bad structure, pretty weak players overall, and half of my table were regs who wouldn't play against each other. So needless to say I haven't been back for tourneys only cash.
