Hey guys, I recently moved to SA from New Hampshire to attend UTSA. I know this post is relatively old but I'm curious to see if there are games relatively close to campus (1604 loop)? Would prefer 1/2 or lower, mixed games, plo, holdem anything like that. I still don't know the area too well, but I'd definitely be interested in getting into a game.

I live in San Antonio back in 07-10 and I mingled in quite a good amount of raked cash games there. IMO.. DO NOT PLAY!! The few games I played in were composed of a shady crowd HOST A would put on a game TUES and refer the people to HOST B who had a game on WEDS.. etc. etc. A lot of shady stuff like the hosts putting their friends in the game to keep action going where eventually the house aka rake is the big winner.

Either way action was juicy but it's hard to offset the extreme rake and it's frustrating when there is no consistency to the games. Your best bet is to find this private MTT's/SNGs that people are running and join their circle of players. They have small stakes to high stakes... ask around, you'll find them.

That reminds me.. one game I played at, a 2-5 game off the 1604.. Flat screens throughout the house with multiple tables set up. My buddy cleaned up shop and pretty much killed the entire game.. When cashing out the pulled him aside and told him that HOST A would settle even though the game was at HOST B. They "told" him to make sure word didn't get out..

Or just drive to Eagle pass... lol... horrible drive and hardly any live NL action!!

I have play at both location. The c4 & plpsa. The c4c is a great place if your a new player but the action sucks. Nobody is playing a hand unless they have a premium hand. The plpsa kind of sucks, its whoever buys more drinks or food takes the tournament. It's not real poker and its a waste of time to win a bar tab of $20.
