yeah...i know lol

i played in them for a couple of years, but after taking a break, the loss of value these games present especially when some dealers are instructed to take as much as possible (sometimes over 10+) it's just not appealing.

I know getting into a friendly home game will be difficult, as these aren't usually things strangers are invited too. So i figured i'd look on 2+2, as there is at least a sense of community.

I have a feeling we might have played in the same game, I have heard the same thing about the dealers from many many different people.

I know we're getting into B&M territory discussing raked games but has the number of competing raked games in SA not increased to the point where the operators use a more reasonable rake structure as a draw?

Yes, you would think so, but at some games dealers are encouraged to rake as much as possible while trying to be discreet. I have seen a woman missing 40$ from an all in pot at a freakin' 1-3NL game.

Never played there. I knew about the tourneys there, but never actually played in any of them.

Friends tell me there are a bunch of 'em, if you don't know many locals (or work with poker fans), just go hang out at a sports bar that's showing a poker TV show and you'll find connections to games.

do the players ever question the dealers? How do the dealers respond?

once a saturation point is reached nothing will kill a raked game quicker than a bunch of pissed off players spreading info on how bad the rake is (putting other rooms on notice to be more reasonable).

Sorry, getting off track from OP, but I thought it was good info.

Most of the players are too lazy to count the pots and do the math but most of them dont even realize the over rake. A buddy of mine would count every pot he won and blatantly tell the dealer. It got to the point where he would ask the dealer and the dealer would immediately throw him 10$ that he "accidentally over-raked".
