how is WCS working this year. are all games online till round of 8?

From what I understand, there's no more EU/NA, there's just global WCS and then the two Korean leagues (GSL/SSL). All WCS groups will be live from the ro32. Half will be played in Los Angeles, half in Cologne.

Obv way off topic, but I kinda hoped you guys won't mind, plus kinda brag worthy? Kinda figured SC2 guys are on average more intelligent and understating than the rest of 2p2.

GF and I are going to go on a cruise this year, we will leave from Galveston TX. The problem we have is getting from the air port in Houston down to Galveston. To rent a car the only option is to take one for the week, which is redic as we won't be on land at all that week, and it'll cost ~$440. Can anyone think of a better, cheaper, more efficient way to get one hour south then one our north a week later? Or maybe someone here wants to go with us and split the cost of a cab? Going in April fwiw.

$440 is an absurd price for a one-week car rental. Kayak just gave me a quote for $198 for a randomly selected 7-day round trip out of Houston.

Its an hour, surely there is public transport?

I believe a cab ride one way will be ~200 so thats about break even.

And the reason I think it's so much for a car rental is that only one enterprise has a drop off in Galveston.

And yeah the distance from the airport, George Bush International, is about 60mi from the port. So ~ 1hr.

Amtrak has bus service but apparently state law requires that you have to buy a train segment and not just a bus ride, basically making it worthless. LOL Texas.

Used Enterprise. If I just wanted it for 2 weeks and stayed in town, it would have been less than $400 by a mile

I've been catching up on games today, the last ro8 match between

There's a test map up for the new swarm hosts. They're kinda weird. The way the flying upgrade works is that the locusts start spawned in the air and then move towards their target, but can't attack; you have to tell them where to go to the ground and start attacking. So, once you get the flying upgrade there's more micro involved. Locusts and swarm hosts appear to move a little faster on creep now than before, but given all the ways they've been nerfed - 60 second cooldown (formerly 25) and the gas-heavy cost (100/200 instead of 200/100), I have to imagine that it's a significant nerf to Zerg vs. mech. The corresponding PDD change doesn't really affect things until the late late game when Terrans start making lots of ravens, but this kind of SH nerf that makes them both less effective and harder to produce (that gas cost is SO huge now) in the midgame makes it much harder for Zerg to repel midgame mech pushes, I think.

While this is pure speculation, I think Thors would be pretty effective against flying locust waves with their air splash + bonus damage vs light; 2 of their anti-air attacks kill a locust.

If anyone here knows how to play mech I'd be down to practice on the test map with you.

I streamed some awful games tonight and if anyone wants to tear their hair out watching bad Starcraft, there are a few that were really close:

game 1, I scout bio, go home and macro/army up, then see his army when maxed on ling/bling/muta and am like WHAT THE **** IS ALL OF THAT MECH. I have a large bank so I trade away my crappy army as best I can and make swarm hosts and roaches but his push continues and my units come out too awkwardly to fight well. I lose my 3rd and 4th and my main is already mined out. And so begins the long climb back with one mining base against a 4 base Terran...

game 2, we both open greedy (he went CC first so I took a faster third than usual) but then he hits with a hellbat attack, which is literally the only build that routinely kills me when done by gold leaguers, and kills my third. The rest of the game I fight to re-establish it against his constant pushes, and we wind up pretty late in a nearly mined out scenario as I continue to fight to stay alive and turn the tide...
