Only difference between practice and normal is they have destructible rocks to prevent early attacks. Your opponents will also do much quirkier stuff that is not representative of what you'll actually see.

I think you'd find playing AI and build order testers far more helpful.

Practice league is in slower mode too so it takes longer to actually get around.

Terran will usually try to go Reapers since they can jump over the cliffs and get around those destructible rocks.

I say play against the AI and practice.
