didn't need it. My plan was to mass muta his ass if he was going to turtle like that. But maybe I should get it as the map is huge. I just didn't think it'd be that important, I wasn't really planning on using lings, just as a distraction.
Scout his natural faster than you did just to see whats up, leave a ling there
Sacrifice an overlord to see whats in his base sooner than you did, you did it 8~30, like 6 30 7 maybe
Yeah the problem was I had one off to the side and there was a stalker there, I wasn't sure if it'd own my overlord or not (probably would) so I sent another from my base, but that took too long
I snap get a Hydra den when I see 2 starports
Yeah, didn't know phoenixes were so strong, even void rays actually
Scout the other expansion near his main too
You seriously need to expand faster, you were oversatured at both bases and had like 1200 minerals at ~11, I'd probably double expand at that point
REALLY need a hydra den vs the phoenix, mutas and corruptors are just so slow to combat them
Should have lings up in his naturals killing probes or whatever or making sure he hasnt expanded
3rd expansion, again add to control group and set way points as soon as it starts spawning, and add gas geysers fast because its so important at this stage, and then transfer
Definitely get a 4th up faster
When is is taking your third out and you retaliate, definitely throw up the left side gold at this point
You had 2 evolutionc hambers for ~10 minutes and got 1 upgrade! Add them to a control group, learn the hotkeys and spam upgrades
I'm horrendous at upgrading. I always lack in this department. I wonder how much I'm missing out on by sucking ass here. I'm lucky to get 2 lvl 1 upgrades

diamond ZvP game. I thought it'd be interesting to go a ling army against this guy. Thoughts/critiques appreciated. I feel like had I gone roaches the game would've been over earlier and at some point I should've stopped and quicktecked to hive

You didn't use the information you gained from scouting. You saw 2gates + a chrono boost being used on 1 of the gates, yet you delayed starting a zealot of your own and put down a cyber core instead of a 2nd gate or forge. Attempting to hold off an early 2gate push with 1gate is generally gonna end poorly for you.

I'm still learning but tanks are generally just extra base defense, doesn't strictly imply turtling. I always build a few to put near my wall.

I like what you were doing with the lings by denying the expansion, and less liked the cannon run-bys. Against this particular opponent who was just going to let lings into his base, just mass them and attack. Don't need roaches as he wasn't getting attack upgrades, zealots, or colossi.

I'll post one. Make use of fast forward, as it's ridiculous in length.

Any ideas how to crack this terran main? He built extra barracks just so it's super painful to drop or get through. A tiny force of tanks was able to take out 7+ ultras every time i tried to get in there. My strategy was honestly "well, the map is going to run out of minerals at SOME point...". =(

BTW: yes, i know I missed seeing him get the gold expo which was really stupid of me.

noob question: is there a difference between the gold mineral fields and the regular ones?

edit: n/m, just googled it, minerals mined at a rate of 7 per trip instead of 5, nice

Feels like mass ling would have raped that game.
Also your first drop - if you'd gone from the right side instead of from mid it would have been a ton more effective ( drop ultras on the right, lingrush from the front ).

Your mentality past 30 mins seemed to be "ultras are ****in awesome, I'm gonna make more ultras" :d


Hydras really suck to cover distance with vs viking harass.
I would have made like 10 spore crawlers and made an overlord pen right outside my nat

When you 1st see the 2-gate you have about 1:30 before he's at your door with 4 zealots, he waited for 7 so it took a full minute longer. In that time you built a cyber core, another gate, 2 zealots, and a stalker. You just didn't react until you couldn't defend. Drop down a 2nd gate right away or a forge.

If you're building at the entrance to your base, at least use the buildings to block. It could've saved you in this case. One zealot blocking so only 1 or 2 of his can fight while your stalker is shooting them too. It would've kept your units alive longer and help get you to the stalkers coming out.

Took him ~58 minutes, but he still managed to tank your cliff

My one thought was infestor and roach burrow play. I don't think he built a turret all game long and it took him forever to crank out a raven. Looking back it seems like it might work, but in-game I probably wouldn't have thought about it since I'd be on monkey tilt from the ridic viking harass all ***** game long. So annoying because your army would roflstomp his in a straight up fight at pretty much any point in the game.

U probably could have droned a little harder at the start or after u killed that first push. When he was turtling and u had a ton of money i would have taken my 4th-5th-6th-7th etc bases and would have been focusing on denying his 3rd(4th since he took island) U never had to attack into his natural but I would have been camping at his xelnaga with most of my forces. Only watched like the first 20ish minutes of the game. Stopped watching after the drop but you could have crushed his army when he tried to secure his gold if u were at his xelnaga he seemed pretty bad tho.

A few comments:

1) You may want to consider getting the 2nd+3rd gateway later, allowing you to get to robotics facility up earlier. There was a good 35 seconds where all 3 gateways were producing nothing, so you could have made the robo, then added the 2nd+3rd gateway, and still had them up in time for warpgate.

2) Since you see reactor+tanks, the Terran is probably going for some kind of marine/tank/raven composition. Leg speed is much more useful there than blink, IMO.

3) During the fights, you should make sure you're still producing immortals. They help a lot for taking down the tanks, allowing your stalkers to deal with marines, which they're very good at with micro. (attack, move back, attack, etc.)

WHat sh ould I have done here? I think my unit composition in general was fine vs what he had. I got raped by helion harass ar various times, I'm pretty poor against that

I feel like I definitely should have won this game but I must have done alot of little things wrong, so criticism welcome

Just played this PvP. I scout that he has a too many unit producing structures and know that he hasn't scouted me. I figure it's safe to fast expand since I know his unit composition fairly well.

The took out the wrong two people first. It looks like they just figured that you'd give up after you lost your team mates. You pretty quickly out supplied them both after you took out zerg.

you're trying to to expand the 2nd time too early. build up your forces more with 2 bases first imo

ZvP just zerglings. Diamond game!

I was scouting enough to go a different route but I thought until otherwise why not just keep massing lings and upgrade them?

I could use a lot of advice on this though, I"m pretty clumsy when it comes to tech upgrading, I just like to build units

Too bad it didn't last longer, I was hoping to get some ultras
