Question for you guys: How are terran players getting 5-8 (or more) battle cruisers out so early in most of the 3v3/4v4 matches I've been playing? This also happens to me a lot in 2v2s. Even if I try to tech up a lot early on to get battle cruisers, I'm still unable to get more than 2 or 3 out so soon. Any tips on teching up faster?

finally back to break even after starting 0-5 in placement for bronze,
then 0-10, im now 22-22 rank 32 in my bronze.

finally got used to the strat now for terran.

im now pumping out 3 rax asap and going for the early kill, and expanding as is needed after that. it is mostly working.
(and ive got used to counter-acting the bc.s w viks!!! weeee)

How do you guys play against DT rushes? Good players I've played against will hide their Dark shrines out of the way which makes it hard to scout. When I 3 rax I usually skimp or ignore turrets because I'm trying to pump out as M&M's as fast as possible. It usually isnt as much of a problem if I do 111 because I am turtling more and know they will be able to get tech up before I am ready to attack.

In one game I had two DT's dropped into my mineral line as I was attacking and they subsequently destroyed my CC which allowed them to defend my ~15 M&M mix with only 1 DT at their base.

Should I build turrets around my CC every game or try to get a fast raven? Also, should I ignore a few mules so that I can have some energy saved up for scanner sweeps when I do attack?

Nice, I started kinda the same 1-4 in placement matches put in bronze, but just yesterday promoted to silver, 90% of the matches with 3 barracks, it's really good

I'm a zerg player who is sick of the boring nature of ZvZ and getting ROFLSTOMPED by Terran if my baneling bust fails to score a kill.

So I'm now a terran player.

I have NO clue how to play Terran and I'll treat you all to my very first game ever.

I'm a high platinum player as Zerg, but after going on a massive losing streak the past couple days, I'm making the switch to greener pastures.

Funny thing is, I got promoted to diamond after this hilariously bad performance in TvP. It's a short replay, and really outlines the need for thorough scouting!

Now I'll go back through this thread to look for tips and tricks to being a Terran.




Again, I have never played Terran in 1v1 before, so I know my "build order" is atrocious. So no need to make fun of my inabilities. My opponent obviously thought he had this game won, and made the NASTY mistake of ignoring my reapers.

I'm doing terrible.

These protoss midgame pushes with the collossus are destroying my face in unimaginable ways.

My forces just MELLLLT

I feel like I have no idea when I'm supposed to be offensive. This last game might have been ok if he hadn't escorted his 6 collosi with about 10 phoenix to stop my vikings.

Against protoss you definitly need to do an early game timing push, stalkers and zealots have no chance against marine/marauder combo, try and head out at around the 8th minute with a small force. (3 barracks)

Just waiting to be demoted at this point. I'm like 2-9 as Terran and now losing 16+ points per loss.

I didn't notice any real Terran resources anywhere in this thread. Who are the top terran players that I can watch replays of?

His point is that you have push out when the numbers are smaller and transition rather than wait until both of you have large numbers.

Ok, the 3 rax marauder (I'm using 100% marauders since the marines just get picked off by the stalkers as I kite with concussive shot) build is working extremely well against toss.

I'm rolling with about 16 marauders before I push out.

I save a scan in case I get force fielded and need to shoot up a cliff. They don't expect you to be able to hit them, so I've found that the tend to leave their sentries right by the ramp after they use FF. Easy pickings.

I didn't realize how hard marauders own pylons. I've cancelled 3 or 4 warp-ins by killing the pylon as the units are still materializing.

With regard to my first comment about kiting stalkers. I sort of feel like this is not necessary. Do you just stand your ground with focus fire in Marauder/stalker fights? I feel like I'm not actually helping myself by treating them like zealots.

I enjoy a 3 rax play as well, sometimes even neglecting the orbital command lol. I don't see the point of kiting against stalkers except to maybe preserve an advantage you have, like having more spread out units than him. Marauders and stalkers have equal range, so you'r elikely going to be trading blows no matter what, trying to create/preserve a concave seems like the only reason to kite a little. I wouldn't bother, just fight straight up with focus.

haha I just had my first diamond TvT.

I keep scouting him with like 14325234 vikings.

So I build thors.

Then I see the tanks.

And the vikings.

And I'm like, "ooooohhhhhhhh THATS what they mean when they say Tanks/Vikings and nothing else."

Because obviously my thor army with banshee support got OMGWTFBBQowned in short order.

How do you win? Serious question.

I tried going ghosts/nukes but tank range > nuke range and there's only so many times I can nuke his supply depot farm before he wises up and throws down a missile turret.

You just auto lose to voidray openings though and wont do well vs immortal openings unless if you have an overwhelming army. Marauders literally rape stalkers so just fight if its just stalkers. Kite a lil if its zealot stalker but once the zealots are dead you can usually just engage and win.
