Don't think anyone except like Taeja and MVP (and MMA back then) clearly separated themselves from the rest of the good Terrans. Polt, MKP, Gumiho, Bomber, etc are all more or less on the same level to me since they're randomly really good but don't really close on big events much.

By that logic Nestea needs to be above Symbol and the rest of the top Zergs, and MC on top of the top Protosses. MKP got to the finals early on when skill levels were much lower.

The difference is that while Nestea was in free-fall, Symbol made 3 straight Ro8s in Code S. What has Ryung done this year? Try to phrase it in as positive a light as you can for added lulz.

(eta, it helps that MKP also made Ro8 last season, it's not like he sucks now - also Nestea hasn't won anything of significance in 2012)

Just saying pointing out his GSL finals appearances is dumb and doesn't add to your argument. I'm fine with the rest of what you said and not arguing Ryung is better. I just don't think any terran except MVP/Taeja look like they've separated themselves from other Terrans skill-wise.

Now I think the problem is you're talking about this whole year and I'm talking about right now.

my lol rankings (these are almost as much consistency rankings as true power rankings because SC is so mercurial these days that I think being consistent is a huge signal to your overall skill level)

Zerg:

1. Life (until I have reason to remove him from this spot, not gonna do it)
2. Leenock (haven't seen him in a bit, homer pick, but he cruised through code A and is still the most consistent Zerg in the last year with the exception of Life)
3. Roro (affirmative action says I should have at least one KeSPA player here, and between Proleague and GSL he has been beasting it up)
4. DRG (his "continued downswing" includes such awful accomplishments as finishing 2nd place in Iron Squid to life in a 4-3 series, and getting to the Ro16 in GSL, finishing third, and then comfortably making it back into code S)
5. Symbol (pretty meh about this pick, but he has at least been good for a while- no accusing him of being patchy or relatively unproven [see sniper, soulkey, curious]). Also beat innovation and curious this GSL so has been tested)

Terran:

1. Innovation (yeah, he lost in Ro8 but it's his second straight Ro8 and no other terrans have really been doing any better)
2. MarineKing (yes, I don't like him. Yes, he tops out at Ro16 nonstop and plays a really obnoxious style that's extremely coinflippy. Yes, he's still more consistent than just about any other terran out there. Will he ever win a GSL? Maybe, maybe not. But I'll be damned if he's not in Code S Ro16 this season in HOTS, and maybe farther since Terran is now good again)
3. Taeja (somewhat interchangeable with MKP except I hate teamliquid so...)
4. Flash (with his curbstomping of Rain, easily a top 5 protoss player, I think we can say that flash has arrived. This is somewhat of an elevated ranking since there just aren't that many good Terrans right now, but I think I can comfortably say I'd want flash in my top 5 terrans if I had to pick.)
5. MVP (the king is back...maybe? Bombed out of GSL but as we've seen with many players before [MC anyone?], it can happen to anyone on a bad day or two.)

Protoss:

1. Parting (incredibly consistent as of late, has developed solid lategame PvZ to complement his all ins well. has always had good PvP and his PvT, while not as elite as it used to be, is still good enough).
2. MC (probably never putting him below #3 on a list like this again)
3. Rain (he got wrecked by flash in code A, but I'm okay having him here.)
4. Squirtle (sort of a marineking-esque player where he has never won anything major, but has stuck around for a really long time at a very high level. He's a code S mainstay, which isn't something anyone below him on this list can really say.
5. Creator (really nothing to say about him other than he's very good, but not as good as the people above him)

Good time for a bump imo - WCS season 1 regionals are over, and here we are on the brink of the global finals.

there have been a few good websites posted on TL that are basically proprietary ELOs for world rankings that house data with win rate statistics for players, matchups, etc. i can't seem to find any no matter how far i look back, so i figured maybe i'd ask here.
