SuperSnort asked why I haven't made the GSL thread yet, and so rather than make a thread that will get like 50 posts total by the end of this season, it may be more useful to make a general thread for both the Korean leagues, since there's now 2 of them: the GSL, and the StarCraft 2 Starleague run by OGN. Both should be running throughout 2015; the GSL started last week, and the SSL has its first round of 16 group tomorrow night. Here's the setup (all dates are for late Korea time, which means that it's late night the previous night USA time or early morning same day Euro time):

GSL

The same tournament you remember; 32 players, two group stages and an elimination ro8 bracket, hosted by Tasteless and Artosis live from Seoul Korea! Your groups for 2015 season 1 are:

Group A - Jan 7
MC vs. Penguin
Rogue vs. Fantasy

Group B - Jan 9
MarineKing vs. Soulkey
Yoda vs. San

Group C - Jan 14
Gumiho vs. Life
Rain vs. Panic

Group D - Jan 30
TY vs. Bomber
Dream vs. Yonghwa

Group E - Jan 21
Maru vs. Hack
First vs. Parting

Group F - Jan 16
Taeja vs. CJ Hero
Terminator vs. Curious

Group G - Jan 28
Dark vs. MMA
Seed vs. Dear

Group H - Jan 23
Heart vs. Solar
Super vs. Innovation

SSL

The SSL technically started with 32 players fighting for 16 spots in the main event; that was played in December, with 16 bo5s being played out and the winners qualifying for the main tournament. After that, it's GSL style, with a group stage in the round of 16 and then an 8 player single-elim bracket. If you want to go back and watch the 32 player qualifying thing, then stop reading now and go watch those. SSL groups are:

Group A - Jan 15
Terminator* vs. Fantasy*
Leenock vs. Super*

Group B - Jan 22
Stats vs. Classic
Life* vs. CJ Hero*

Group C - Jan 29
Dear* vs. Gumiho*
Rogue* vs. Myungsik

Group D - Feb 5
TY* vs. Dark*
Dream* vs. Maru*

* = player who activated beastmode and qualified for both the SSL main event and the GSL.

I have a question, how the **** do I subscribe to GSL lol? I have never paid anything on Twitch so I'm confused and I can't find a good explanation anywhere, do I just have to buy a subscriber ticket every month? There's no yearly option with a discount? It's been a long time since I paid for GSL but I remember it being way easier on the old website. I really loved the old GomTV website too, sad it's gone.

Just to make sure it's 100% clear I want to watch the GSL vods in the easiest way possible. Tbh I hate Twitch for VODs but I assume I have no other choice.

I used to just pirate the VODs because it was easier, but content gets uploaded more and more slowly now and since Gom is in deep financial trouble I'll do my part. If I can figure out how .

when you click on the subscribe buttong for GSL on twitch it will give you two options. 1 is for $13.99 and other for $23.99 (no ads so not worth it esp if you have *******). This will last until the end of season 1 and a little longer so you c an watch the vods. it doesnt need to be renewed each month like other twitch channels

edit. cant type +block

Ok thanks

Sad you can't watch the VODs forever like on the old Gom website (though I guess you can't anymore ). I'll pay up the 14$ then.

Spoiler:
Is it 'cause Terran opened proxy gasless? Or that he felt so far behind he chose an allin.? The raxes are a fine choice, esp if he knows his opponent's OL tendencies are passive on sac'ing for info, but really I think he was just trying to salvage a non-horrible win% for something - anything - slightly higher. Even if you didn't have a bad win% after the cancel and lift, if Zerg is gonna die to this without info, you force them to have to poke OL super early vs 1 Marine for geyser timing (prob preferable) or sac a bit later for Production/2nd gas type info. Leenock kinda had a problem in that his first OL, even after scouting a proxy play, went toward the Nat for early mid-game vision instead of to a spot for an earlier main base info poke. But yeah. Maru's medivac control is inspiring.

Yeah, I think sub is the way to go. I guess it prob always was, since lack of funding has made it even tougher on both them and you.

Once you have a sub, this is a pretty good place to go for most big events, since so many places aren't caring about spoiling results now via VOD lists and VOD lengths now : Spoiler Free SC subreddit

That was a pretty painful group to watch. You would have thought Yoda would have bought a little respect by winning his Ro32 group, but nope, more or less open contempt from everyone because Life made him look like a fool.

This thread is really good too.

EDIT: It's individual VODs mostly, so there are length spoilers. BUT, it's mostly youtube, so you can watch on tablets.

It's because:

Spoiler:
SALT

and because watching Terran fail at one all in just to succeed with another, in spades, is something that Zerg can never, ever get away with

SSL Ro4 match 2 spoiler:

Spoiler:
aka Life vs Dream

Spoiler:
Man it hurts to watch the best player in the world run into that 2/2 vs 3/3 window that Zerg just can't get past, especially after Soulkey's downfall from being the best Zerg in the world started when he could just never get over that hump against Terrans like Innovation.

I do think Life threw game 6 a bit though. He had the kill move ready and then turned his whole army back to deal with a single medivac instead of just rallying his in-production units to stay at home. It's the sort of thing where at the time it happens you're like "whatever, he's so far ahead, he can afford to do that" but when he winds up losing that game, it's hard to avoid being results-oriented and going back to the point in the game where he had it in his hands and chose not to take it.

Rematch of the IEM Taipei final would have been sick as **** too. Crazy statistic: right now, March 5th, was the first time since Dreamhack Stockholm in September that Life has exited a tournament before the finals. He won Blizzcon, finished 2nd at DH Winter, won IEM Taipei, is still alive in GSL.
