Ya, but didn't he admit to you that by only cold calling these types of hands that he was really "polarizing" his range? Guy has mad adjustment skills imo.

Nothing inherently wrong with that and it's certainly not mutually exclusive from the statment you're replying to.

Re: Would Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu be an underdog in the Stars High Limit Holdem Cash Game

I used to rail the high stakes games on Full Tilt. I remember when Ivey was losing and "tilting" he would just quit and when he was in the zone and ahead he would play long sessions, and like most of us his opponents would pretty much do the opposite.

I wonder how much of Ivey's awesome online results are attributed towards playing when things are going well and quitting when they are not.

Re: Would Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu be an underdog in the Stars High Limit Holdem Cash Game

To my knowledge, Ivey has never quit anyone ever and has been willing to play anyone. Which pretty much means no one has ever beat him. Why would we assume anything different would happen? Yeah these high stakes LHE guys are good and robotic and make the correct plays but I think Ivey could start doing some things to take them out of their element and adjust quicker. Everyone that has ever played Ivey has said he adjusts faster than anyone.

Balance is VERY overrated in a lot (most) poker situations. And is perfectly reasonable especially if you understand you are unbalanced there and adjust quickly. Sometimes the best way to exploit an opponent is to use an exploitable play.
