meh, typed it out wrong.. Didnt mean they will be possible to detect or spot, but more that it will be impossible for the sites to ban them on the accusations alone.
Because for a smart bot maker there wouldnt be any way to be 100% sure it really was a bot, unless ofc the site themselves flew out to the watch the player with their own eyes as he was playing at computer, and then they would have to compare that to their usual style. Which probably wont happen im guessing.

Also, dont think the sites will start banning players for playing "a bot-like" style. And then further i bet it wouldnt be too hard to tweak the bots a little to play more like most regs, in case the bot makers really are worried about that happening.

Yeah I don't think it will be easy for the sites to identify them, just the players. They need someone who understands limit HE very well and has a lot of experience playing them like CrazyMike.

I don't think it'll be easy for them to be programmed to behave more like regs. Nearly all the bots are playing a GTO type game, some of them have built in exploitive personailites from what I've read but they're always going to consistently take lines and actions that 98% of humans are not taking on a regular basis.

This could change if humans evolve to more of a GTO style. I think as the games get tougher and tougher, players will become more and more GTO based. In other words as players become more difficult to exploit, GTO play will become more prevalent than exploitative play. If we get to that point, then I agree it'll be next to impossible to identify them through their play alone.

If we can't distinguish bots from players because both are playing close to GTO, how is it that bots are a threat?

umm because a bot can be copied and run by pretty much anyone in the world that has an internet connection

This comes up every once in a while, usually in the form of some arrogant hu specialist saying 'LOL I CAN beet the bots why should I care' (even though it's very likely they can't for much more than cheezeburger wages).

Poker has a limited number of bad players, especially hu. More human opponents is one thing and an acceptable part of competition. But someone who is able to play dozens of tables on a dozen screennames at the same time and who never gets tired is a huge threat. These guys take millions out of the poker economy. If you are a $100/hour player and can beat a bot for $10, but they can beat the fish for $50/hour and they play 10x as many hands as you, that is a major problem.

Re: Limit poker is dead

Agree with all posters who say "live" limit is far from dead (ironic phrasing, but true nonetheless). I suspect many high stakes online limit players would be shocked by the type of action they can get in live games in A.C., CA, and even Vegas. That said, it is, as many predicted, more and more important to be able to play all of the games, particularly the stud variants. That is where the real action is at the high stakes... But, again, agree with those posters who have written (simply and succinctly): "Black Friday." You gotta go live, baby! Things have, indeed, changed...
