He wasn't "so far ahead of the game" anywhere near so much as being on the leading edge of a group of people who were changing the game dramatically, people like Tom Wiedeman, Paul Pudaite, Andy Morton, and, a bit later, Bill Chen, Izmet Fekali and Andrew Prock. The heaviest hitter on that list probably isn't Abdul at all, but Paul Pudaite.

Not really a thread, but I remember this great poker comedy from Abdul back in the day where hero folds were considered the hallmark of great poker players. . . .
