You guys don't know me, but I've played in high limit games live and online over the last 10 years. azn_baller, I have played with you somewhat online. I am reluctant to give you advice since it may come back and bite me on the tables, but you seem like a nice guy so here goes.

One of the biggest things I've learned is that CONFIDENCE is one of the most important things (and you don't seem too confident right now). It's almost as if believing you are playing good is more important than playing good (if that makes sense in some catch 22 way). So my advice to you is get your confidence back because we all have been through bad stretches.

Good Luck.

Most arent being serious. In fact imo per capita Asians pretty much dominate, especially if you compare self taught Asians to the rest of the self-taughts. I could be way off though. Asians might not even be much of a minority in poker, especially in Cali, so per capita might not be the way to look at it.

They're either really good or really bad, kinda like everyone else. The bad asians just stick out in the card room because they're a little louder and the loudest of the bad ones seem to be unable to speak english very well.

I'm watching Big Trouble in Little China right now.

Everyone can fly...there's monsters....Kurt Russell has a machine gun but isn't shooting at anyone...

Asians have a compulsive gambling gene that no other race does. Every Asian I played with say in the Bargota except those nerdy geeky guys who grind played horendous. Going all in on flush draws or gutshots is their favorite play. Same with other table games, go to high limit rooms for say blackjack you will see 80% of the people being Asian. Once again in exception to a few most asians are compulsive gamblers!!!

I've played live poker like five times in my life (at 22), and I've found two truths:

1. Live poker sucks and is stupid.

2. Young Asians are usually good, and middle-aged ones are super loose spewing gambooolers and dealer make scramble!

Is Big Trouble in Little China the one with Jackie Chan and the oddly cute Asian girl in glasses?

Poker has not changed. Not limit poker nor no limit poker. Are there more good players now than 6 or 7 years ago? Yes in no limit. Maybe, but I don't think so in limit. Your complaint is somewhat telling in itself " I can't even win with limpers and cold callers" Now how can that be? If you are as good as you say and as others here seem to think you are there can only be one answer. There are no garauntees in poker. Nothing says that you have to win. There is no such thing as the long run for an individual poker player. I'm not sure but it does appear from your post that you stopped for a while and just got back to playing. Maybe not, maybe you just started losing and can't get back into the winning mode. Either way, if you in fact played winning poker for a significant period of time then you should not change anything. You have to approach every session with confidence that the game you have always played is the game you need to stick with. The only thing that should make you change is proof that you are making neg EV plays. The only way you find that out is to keep, ugh, records of situations that are in question. Otherwise if you were truly a winner stick to your A game and fight on. BTW - I have to listen to one of the most successful 40-80 players around about how he sucks at poker ever time he loses 10k or more during a session. Which happens on a regular basis. Of course when I ask him how he is doing for the year he wimpishly admits to being a big winner.
