Re: azn_baller3 need some honest answers

Some advice:

1) Set a rigid stop loss. If your computer would happen to explode as soon as you were down 100 BB, you would come out ahead even after replacement costs and medical bills.

2) Game selection. Games are just very sporadicly good at all limits. The ability to be able to play a wide range of limits will give you the chance to have a good hourly at all times. However, it makes it harder to quit when you are stuck in a bigger game or when the bad player leaves.

3) Better analysis of players. Just because people are limping and 6 months ago people who limped were bad, doesn't mean that you can peg them so easily. A lot of the players who are limping are limping now with hands that are a significant favorite above my old isolating ranges, and don't play poorly enough postflop to allow me to make up for it.

4) Less tables. This should pretty much speak for itself.

Hope things turn around for you.

Re: azn_baller3 need some honest answers

I also don't think the real azn baller would post here. If it's really him then what's good. We always had some good tilt sessions at 1/2 just spazzing out between me, u, and exclu...

I'll hold off on real advice until I get some indication that it's really you.

Re: azn_baller3 need some honest answers

i never considered you reall good, but i never considered you a reason to join the table. i always thought of you as a breakeven player at softer tables and a loser at very tough tables (which you used to play a lot as far as i remember).

whatsoever, only advice i can give you is: dont underestimate the variance in FL holdem. its SICK! especially when you play as loose and aggressive as you do. its easily possible that you lose like 10 sessions in a row after winning for 8 in a row before without changing a thing.

dont be too result-oriented.

best of luck

Re: azn_baller3 need some honest answers

I agree with Kobe regarding the variance issues. I went on a sick run in April, to the tune of about $42k (playing 1 table at a time), and lost pretty much the entire amount since then. I'm not as good as it appeared when I was winning, and hopefully I'm not as bad as I looked when I was losing.

With fast moving tables and aggressive opponents who make you pay when they smell weakness, short rolls, etc., it is very tough to turn things around without stopping to re-assess, taking a break, replenishing the roll, etc.

Anyway, tongni and kobeyard both had some great advice/input.

Play shorter sessions when you're losing, too. I know at times I've felt like you tilt a lot (I don't necessarily mean spewtard kind of tilt, there are several forms of it), though I don't recall any of them being recent in the few times we've tango'ed lately. In fact of recent encounters I've actually felt you were playing too abc/straightforward/vanilla, though I'll admit that could be due to how hot in general I've ran against you and that fact has made it feel to me like you play me very very straight forwardly now.

Mainly I'd agree with tongni about the point of you quitting losing sessions earlier. It seems like you always do marathon sessions to try to get out, and usually end up playing in bad games where your opponents are winning and playing close to their A games and you're not in the right mind set to be able to compete against that.

Best of luck to ya bud.

i cant win at 30/60 anymore either, dunno what it is :| I'm on my worst downswing since i started playing the game in early 04.

maybe open less and 3 bet less (since people 4bet lighter). i think we can all agree games are generally getting tougher, but even if u dont agree w/ that u at least have to concede that they're a lot more aggressive. Variance is a b1tch.

Re: azn_baller3 need some honest answers

The games have become much more difficult in my opinion, particularly in the last few months. Even the poorer players at mid-limit (10-20 to 30-60) do not just throw money away as they did in the past and as pointed out above are much more aggressive than before.

In particular many poorer players have taken to donking with both made hands and draws. In the past you could count on the donker either completely bluffing or betting a draw. Since your edge is less, variance comes to the fore as others have pointed out. Also, even poorer players play much better at least pre-flop, than before which also reduces your edge.

Anyway wish you well as you and I also never thought of you as a good reason to join the table.
