GL with the goals!

Couple of questions:
1. Are you going to run the private coaching group? Asking just out of curiosity...
2. Now that you're back to being a part of a team, does this mean that you will no longer sell shares for your sessions on the 2+2 Marketplace?

It says a lot about yourself that you're able to list out your shortcomings last year. I won't say don't be so hard on yourself ... you actually should be! So go and be a better you!

Hey Jae! I used to play yugioh and saw that you were coaching someone I knew through DGZ and I sent you a pm there when I first started playing poker in 2011. Idk if you ever saw it but whenever you were at one of my microstakes tournament tables I used to spam the chat about something ygo or about Jason Holloway , sorry if that was annoying! Glad to see you have so much success, congrats and gl this year.

Thanks for all of the well wishes and compliments guys. I guess I'll be updating this thread once a week, after each Sunday session. I update all of my balances then so I can see how I've been doing week to week. I'll probably post a total graph every month. It's weird, I actually like posting these things more when I'm losing than when I'm winning.

Week One:

Poker:

Got hosed. I always seem to get off to a pretty bad start in January and February. Maybe I should take the first few months off! (weak mental game not serious)..

One of the benefits of working with BBZ is I can just fire up every game I'm +ev for without having to worry about going broke or piecing out my action. I'm the type of player that is very conservative with even a six-figure bankroll. I will sell action to the thinner edge games and bigger buy-ins and would encourage everyone to do the same.

There was a "playing" overlay in the Sunday 500 and there's pretty much always a "playing" overlay in the Party 500. I consider a "playing" overlay a spot where there is an overlay at the time of registration, but probably won't be by the time the tournament wraps up. If you're one of the better players in the field when you do this, each additional bustout contributes to your prizepool gain along with the late entrants to end up a very +roi spot.

So basically Sunday was a good day for games and I ended up firing everything up. There were no real runs of note, just 31st in the Turbo Multi-Hundo, 27th in the 17.5k 109 Turbo, and 19th in the 20k 108 Turbo on Party.

Random and Personal:

There was a time when I cared more about random badges and trinkets I guess. I could have kept pushing for triple crowns to get onto the top list but I stopped, even when winning two legs multiple times in 2013. So I think it's cool how I accidentally ended up winning a diamond star in 2013. It's for best 100 streak Av. Profit in Rush/Zoom any stakes for 2013. I got 2nd in that $215 SCOOP-M Zoom Turbo and I guess I played enough Zoom MTT's for TLB's to count for the badge. I think Sharkscope has added way too many unique achievements for stars too, some of them are really kinky.

My game isn't affected but I'm going through a pretty rough breakup right now. We are really on again off again and always fighting like one of those Rihanna music videos. I think it's run its course now.

I think I'm just going to go all in on Vancouver and move over there. It'll kind of be a mixed blessing. It's really hard to have a great social life and love life when trying to hit Supernova Elite, especially for someone who has never done it before. I kind of just need one year to get everything on track (SNE rakeback for the next year along with more bankroll building). I don't want to get depressed or anything from neglecting a social life but it seems like the best play right now might be to relocate near my friends and get some more genuine social contact.

I'll write more about Seoul as a city later but I think big cities are paradoxically some of the loneliest places on earth. I'm in a Janelle Monae/archandroid type of mood I guess.

can you explain

do this = register? late register? etc

Vancouver is an excellent spot. bluffz/maz/frenzuh are a lot of fun to hang out with . Let me know if you ever make it over I would snap go back for a visit. Sippins not too far from there aswell. He's a bit of a girls blouse but he's married now so w/e. Hes a good craic

Enjoy yourself man. Its difficult to balance..I find its better to look to non-poker friends (especially who are sure of where they stand..) for outside perspectives. Somewhere between [easy come easy go] and [build for a future you'll never be able to enjoy] is likely optimal

Yeah it's kind of a term I pulled out of my ass anyways. Don't think it matters when you register. Although I've noticed a lot of times for stuff like the 1k 8-Max or Sunday 500, it's better to get in after an hour has passed anyways because you can see if a lot of weaker players entered later to make up for the tough field at the start.

And this is for normal grinders. You are top tier apex predator so none of this really applies.

I'm going through a lot of personal turmoil so I've decided to cancel the project today. Will be giving out a free lesson on the building blocks of being a professional grinder.

Definitely looking forward to meeting you in the future. I'm pretty set on living in Vancouver for sure now at some point this year.
