intro :

my name is marcelo, im 26y (time goes so fast...i think i still 19y) from brazil.


poker backgroud:

i started playing poker in 2006 at home game w friends (thx moneymaker)... thought it was fun game, went play live in a poker club - we don't have casino here in brazil. only few undergrounds that dont have poker room -, and built my first roll playing live 1/2 holdem (0.5/1 in usd). that was 2006 or 2007.

in 2008 i started playing nl hu at full tilt/pokerstars and from 08 until 2012, 99% of my hands were hu sessions. i learned poker playing nl hu, which gave me a strong poker background. in 2010 i moved to hu plo, and in 2012 i moved to plo 6max, where im playing nowadays.by the way, i used to love nl hu, i remember thinking how awesome nl holdem was, but since i played plo i think holdem is boring.

last years i played every stake from 0.01/0.02 up to the ocasional tilted shot at 200/400. but i consider myself a midstakes player, the stakes i mostly played was 2/4-10/20.

i still living in the bustoland because i always like to put my roll in the line, and unfortunally i usually run bad at the biggest gambling/shots. :( in 2013/14 i had my worst run ever at gambling, losing 12 flips in a row against a high stake baller. for the 26th time i lose my roll... combined w losing a lot betting in football/basket, i ended january 14 very busted.

so i went search for a staking, talked w many guys, received 2offers, tried negociated, but couldn't get into a deal. but today i finally found a backer. and thats why im posting here... my backer asked me to send email w session report everyday that i played, and after writing his email, i read and thought i could start a blog to track my process. so here i am.

by the way, i always played w/o any rules, playing whatever i wanted at any time, so it feels weird having to play only the same stake, not being able to chase my loss at higher stakes or making a flip to have fun.

the deal is play 1/2 plo 6max on pokerstars and maybe move up to 2/4-3/6 if things goes well.

very weak compared to 5 years ago..
the only poker club with higher limits is H2 in Sao Paulo probably in all of brazil..
if you play the equivalent of 1-3 or 2-3 dollars you should have no problem finding a game in most big cities in Brazil but anything over that it's pretty rare..
on the weekends there's a PLO game at H2 that can be kinda big (think average stack 5k reais) with big pots happening all the time

poker grow a lot in brazil since 2006. in that year i think there was like 1 or 2 poker clubs in sao paulo, today probably theres like 10. action was a lot better 5 years ago, w 10/20 and 25/50 games running many times per week at diferent clubs. 2-3 years ago was still good. but nowadays action is bad, lots of fishs went broke, some fishs dont enjoy poker anymore ,so not many fishs around...

nowadays not many games bigger than 5/10 running often here in sao paulo... theres some 10/20,25/50, but not often. easy find a 2/4 game, but higher than that not easy... 5/10+ its almost always plo. brazilian fishs dont like holdem cash games :)

rake is 5% uncapped at every poker club.


ps: stakes i said are in usd. we play in reais here in brazil... nowadays R$1 = usd 2,50.

just played my 1st session being staked... very good start, ran good, played well, almost everything worked. there was some hands that i think i could played better, but overall was ok.

plo is fun because one good session make you think you are awesome player, and one bad session make you think you are a stupid donk. today im thinking im top player :D

i have been grind hard, playing lots of hands and running like trueteller, which make me motivated to keep grinding. im playing every table running at 1/2, but since that stupid zoom was introduced, its hard to get 24tables running at same stake, like used to happen in 2012/2013 . yesterday i added some 0.5/1 tables to put more volume, and today instead of 0.5/1 i added that ******ed zoom. it was my 1st session ever playing zoom, and i see what i thought was true: its ridiculous format.. the guy who created rush poker for ftp is a ******ed monkey . which is sad, because actually it was a genius idea for his company .

im ratholing at zoom: when i have 200bbs i leave and re-join w new stack. people want play this stupid format, so i dont care about ratholing them.

- session report

tomorrow complete the 1st week since i started playing staked at 1/2 plo and im doing good but if i wanst a tilt machine could be even better.

played 50k hands this week, won around 55buy ins playing good poker, and more important, running great. this week i played 10 sessions won 9, lose 1. but in this losing session i tilted hard, played like a tilted monkey and donated a bunch... this bad session was played between 28-33k hands in the graph (-4,1k in that day). the last ~2k hands wasn't tilt, it was just variance and i handle well, was playing good but couldnt win.

you guys have no idea how bad is be tilted and busted at same time. couldn't make any dumb basket bets to relax, or any flip, or take a tilted shot at higher stake lol . plus the felling of playing bad w my backers money made me feel even worse. but my backer was fine w that, and instead of saying 'you ******ed , why you went all in w AT76? ' he gave some solid advice, which help me to dont go nuts in the last 2k hands.

i rate my play at this 50k hands at 6/10. 9 sessions was 8/10, but the losing session was 0/10 !! losing 20buy ins in one day can happen at plo, and will happen to everyone, but thats can't happen you played like a ******ed monkey ...
by the way, i was very lucky getting good setups, thats why i won 55buy ins. many AAxx x KKxx in CO x BTN, sets x 2p, nut straight and regs holding blockers to bluff etcetc... good setup for me, ran very good. could be at +65bi or 70bi if i didnt tilted a lot.

anyway, results are good, so after this week, my backer said we are ready to play 2/4. thats nice because more money at table :D but not only that, will be better for my grind plans. i couldnt play the number of tables i like at 1/2, so i played some zoom and 0.5/1 to complete number of tables, and it wasn't nice playing 0.5/1 and zoom.

next week will play every 2/4 running and complete w 1/2. my goal is keep running good and playing well.

Still think its weird that you have like 1mil hand winning at 3/6-10/20 and the guy wants you to start low and build yourself his staking roll. Hopefully he gave you 70%+ to counter that bs
