Loving the thread sir! I'm from Texas so always happy to see a local doing work at the tables.
Couple of questions. I'm currently in grad school and play part time.
Stakes I'm currently at 25/50cent
Would you recommend I get a HUD?
I notice you use HM1

Also what's your general strategy on 3 bet frequency and huge bluffs?
With bovada being anonymous is 3 bet frequency important?. I only average 1-2 hour sessions a day so not sure if the players I play against pick up reads that fast.

As for bluffing I play pretty standard ABC poker no fancy plays/big bluffs at the stakes I'm. So if I plan to move up how important would it be to add this to my game.

Thanks. Yep, 13.5 bb/100 year to date playing 1/2.

Yes, I believe everyone should have a HUD no matter what stake you play. I use HM1 as a database to keep track of my winnings and tendencies. You can't use it as a HUD on Bovada. Have to use Holdem Indicator. So I have both HM1 and HI.

I've got some notes and tips for my strategy on Making/Calling 3bets and also some for Bluffing/Bluff Catching but I only give those out to my students. PM me if you want more details because I can't discuss in the general forums.

Even though Bovada is anon, 3betting is still very important, especially as you move up stakes as it is more prevalent.

That's the length of my sessions typically. I believe even fish (and especially regs) can make some basic reads/adjustments within 30 minutes of playing with anyone.

You can still be a winner on Bovada by playing ABC but as you climb limits you'll find people play less and less ABC poker. So if you're not incorporating that into your game some as you move up then you'll eventually develop a leak.

Spent the last couple nights researching and booking the San Diego trip. It's finally all booked. We're staying 3 nights in a beach house that is just one house away from the beach. Got tickets to the Padres game against the Dodgers when Clayton Kershaw is projected to start. My dad is a huge baseball fan which is what prompted the idea for the trip to begin with. He's been to a number of different ballparks but not this one. My brother and I are also going to try to get him to surf (yes, like my name suggests I actually do surf--although not frequently enough to be any good). Also rented a convertible to enjoy the San Diego weather. Can't wait!

Petco is a real nice ballpark. You'll enjoy it there. If you want to try some local beers while in the area I suggest Stone Brewery or Ballast Point. I really haven't eaten much in SD since I'm a little further up but just find a hole in the wall shack Mexican place and you should do good. Gas Lamp is good but can get packed since that is what people think of for food and drinks in San Diego.

Cool, thanks for the info. Been looking at reviews on Yelp and have some ideas from there as well.

Good to know. Thanks. Yeah my best friend just went to SD with his brother and said the ballpark was beautiful. He ended up going to two games and he doesn't even like baseball.

Can't wait to finally see Kershaw pitch live. I'm not a Dodgers fan though. Just a fan of excellence. Speaking of which...time to get back to see if Lebron can lead possibly the weakest supporting cast of all time (now with Love and Irving out) to a 2-1 lead in the finals.

Oh yeah, I should probably give some poker updates at least. Had a few break even sessions and then finished up $600 night before last and then up about $150 last night.

Know I haven't been posting many hands lately. Been spending most of my spare time working extra hours and/or planning the trip. So hopefully that will die down soon and will have more time to look for interesting hands to share.

Just had the house exterior painted and shutters added. The color was my wife's choice. I would've preferred to paint the exterior gray and the shutters dark brown (to match the fence). But my wife came up with the money for all of it by herself ($500 to paint the exterior and $300 for someone to build, paint, and hang the shutters) by selling stuff around the house that we don't need any longer. So let her make the call.

Too late now, but you will have to make sure the exterior is maintained even more than if it was painted wood.

He gave us a discount since we've thrown alot of business his way. But yeah thought that was a good deal.

We live in a North Texas suburb.

You will have to do a google search as I am on my Nook so I can't post a link, but when I was thinking about painting our brick I found multiple sites that indicated painting brick was not a very good idea.

I like Bob Vila, so i go with him. If you can get it for $500 as well, then it hurts less for sure.
