Hey guys, I'm a university student from the UK and I play under the SN THFC29 on Stars. I have been playing poker seriously for around a year/18 months although that has predominantly been playing hyper turbo HUSNGs, but due to the reg infested games these days, I've decided to take the plunge into 6 max. Well, I've always wanted to and I was given a great opportunity by '$kill game' who has offered to coach/stake me after obviously seeing some potential. I know there are a lot of regs in the 6 max games as well but I believe that with a lot of hard work and good game selection, I can build up from the bottom very quickly with these games.

I've never really played 6 max seriously, I mean I've played the small stakes before to try and learn the games but it was always off my own back, guessing the best possible ranges and figuring out what spots were best to do what. I was fairly successful given my lack of experience and the fact that I would 12-15 table and I'm hoping that now that I'm receiving coaching, this can push me up through the stakes where it gets tough.

So here I am now. I am being started off at the $7s but $kill is looking to move me up pretty quickly providing things go well. Hopefully I can be game selecting 60s/100s by the start of 2014 and make that push for SNE and the $500s a few months down the line. I'll also be playing soft MTTs as part of the stake, maybe a Sunday schedule (Milly + 109 + mid stakes) but that all depends if I want to be ravaged with make up every week!

I'm a bit busy with uni work for the next 6/7 months but hopefully I can start to get into a good time management system where I can be efficient, although I do love my sleep so we'll see how that goes!

I'll be updating regularly so I'll purposely not make this first post too long, I'll answer any questions anyone has and add more about me as time goes on.

Got the dreaded man flu at the moment so volume has been really poor + I'm desperately trying to learn the ranges + only 6 tabling so only managed 100 games today. Things went well though, felt like I was less spewy than before although I was definitely making mistakes. Have so many strat questions that my backer's going to regret logging into skype. Anyway, running above EV, hopefully a sign of things to come!

If you make it to $500s by the end of 2014 I will be thoroughly shocked and seriously question why I set my own 2014 goals so comparatively low.

That's not me saying you can't do it, just that it would be quite a feat. Obviously that's not your main goal though, but yeah.

Thanks pal. I'm not sure how hard it will be, just going on my backers aspirations. Just finished a sweat session with him and he's moved me up to the $15s so going to see how that goes. I'm 31k VPPs from supernova and we're trying to figure out the best way to get me there given I'm pretty busy with other commitments this month. Also looking at getting me into the 10bb hyper satellites in the future as well so it would be nice to have variation to the shove/fold games I'm playing!

Ok so today has finally finished. Played a few games at the 15s, a lot more regs but nothing to worry about, most of them are awful. Had one reg today limp 22 in the CO at 10bb then min 3b J6o btn vs CO. Painful to watch!

I ran real good in all ins despite being coolered in quite a few spots imo. Learning the ranges is going really well and it's only a matter of a time until it all clicks. I'm still calling too loose but that will come with experience. After playing so much HU, it's very hard to fold A3 at 10bb!

Can anyone guess what game I cashed out after? Well after that I just got cooler after cooler after ****ing cooler. I know the sample size is small and it means nothing long term but it's so frustrating when you're trying to do well to prove you can play higher and you're just getting butt ****ed and can't get anything going. Anyway, the ranges are coming along nicely and hopefully will be able to get a few games in tomorrow although I'm going to be busy with uni work.

Just had a breakeven session where I lost ~7 bi in EV. Feel like I'm playing fine and just jamming into a lot of big hands in short stack bubble spots. Got some coursework to do but when I play later I'm not going to look at EV for the whole night and see how I get on.

You need to play more tables, minimum 50 games per hour

I used to 12-15 table these tiled with no issue but understandably my backer has limited me to 6/7 at a time for now while I'm learning the ranges. I'm hoping that he's going to be more relaxed about it in the future but he's a big advocate of good game selection so I'm not sure how much he will budge, maybe something like 6 x $15s + up to 6 soft 30s/60s at once if I were playing 15-60s. I'll speak to him about it when I've pretty much perfected the ranges.

One of those days. Made $75 profit with EV at -$100 but not really that bothered because had a sweat session today and was told that I was improving. My calling ranges have been too loose and they're finally starting to tighten up in the right spots where I used to just click call because I had 5bb and KTo without taking everything into consideration.

Uni work is being neglected so that'll have to take priority for the next few days meaning I probably won't be playing that much. Hit 70k VPPs today which gave me $100 so it means I can eat for the next few weeks! Apart from that, just getting coolered a lot in bubble/HU pots meaning my EV is taking a big dive.

Edit: Just thought I'd start adding a bit more about me as time goes on. Firstly, here's my grind station. Bought 2 27" monitors last year and then realised that I had little room for them, so I'm cramped in the corner of my room but it's definitely better than trying to grind on a laptop!



And secondly, I'd been down the gym 4-5 times a week recently but things have faded away and I've got lazy again. There's no point me starting again now with Christmas and a lot of uni work coming up because I know I won't be motivated and I'll eat unhealthily. Talking of that, found a pizza place doing a 18" pizza for £11, bargain!



Will post my health/other goals for 2014 nearer the time.

12 is the sweet spot for me but I go up to 15 depending if I need volume, tell him to get you 10 tables atleast

Yeh will give it a couple of days. He's said I can game select 30s/60s now to add to 15s but didn't mention anything about increasing the # of tables.

Great start to the 30s/60s. Took me 47 games to finally win one today, going to grind some more after this break but thought this graph was worth uploading. Might ask my backer if he'll move me to no blind increase HU games, less swongs!

Good luck at high BIs, you'll need here a lot for self confidence.

Thanks. Admittedly, I'm slightly concerned about my EV but I do honestly feel that I'm running below average in terms of card distribution in spots where the money is always going in. Apart from that, I feel like I'm playing well and it's only a matter of time before I start to see some more positive results. I haven't played much at all in the last few days due to coursework for uni but that's done now so should have a solid grind this week.
