Lol. I had one opponent like that too that I played against named Natstar1 back in the Bodog days. Played like a nit to a tee and owned me very often. But I believe they could have made that much more as a LAG. And the dude/chick was even more of a life nit than me in that they never moved up. Were crushing NL100 making like 30-40k a year and had hardly played any NL200. Perhaps they had a similar situation to me where they were cashing out most of their bank roll each month, idk.

I even recognized his/her play when Bodog transitioned to BV (anon) and asked them their Bodog screen name. Sure enough, it was who I thought it was. And the funny thing was, he/she left the table soon after I told them who I was. Even though they were a healthy winner against me it seems they didn't like playing against me b/c I often take alternative lines. Natstar1 seemed to always be one level ahead of me though.

I dont see why anyone would consider poker "taking" money from people. It's a game. You are playing a game and saying "I bet $xxx I am better than you". If you and I have a quarter mile foot race around a track and we agree that the loser pays $20, is this immoral? Thats poker. You were dealt 2 cards, now try to beat me. Rinse and repeat.

Urban Surfer - do you multi-table on bovada?

He probably just knows his potential. Theres a decent lot of guys who just stick to 25 and 50nl mass tabling to make 2-3k a month easy money. They know if they move up they'll eventually braintfart to busto because of their emotions

Hey Urban,

I play a tag style now and ur post about the 92 hand article has motivated me into expanding my game. Thanks in advance! Oh yeah did you come to any conclusion about zone vs reg 6max? Played a little zone the other day and it's tough to make some decisions with out any reads.

Just finished reading thread cover to cover. It's always nice to hear fellow believers stories. You better update this thread with pics of new house when you make it.

With a limited(ish) schedule, don't you think zoom is more profitable simply based on the amount of hands you get?

I'm a big fan of green plastic and CTS on CardRunners (videos from 6-7 years ago) and of AEjones (Lego poker and now w Ivey league poker). Was also a fan of leathera$$ (dusty Schmidt) but can't remember what site he was on (maybe stox?).

Glad to hear it resonated with you.

Still nowhere near a large enough sample size for much commentary or any sweeping judgment. Still so far so good. Over 20bb/100 win rate but lol sample size still. Starting to formulate some ideas of what some general tendencies may be but need to continue to wait for the sample size to increase.

Wow cover to cover. Bless you, bro, for making it through it.

Will definitely post house pics as long as the wife is cool with it.

Zoom might have the potential to be more profitable but will see. BV only allows 2 tables of zone at the same time which is probably somewhat close to the volume of 4-5 tables of regular six max. So yeah if I also play two regular six max along with the two zone then that would be about the equivalent of six tabling. But it all comes down to how much adding that additional volume affects my win rate.

So I haven't posted an update in a few days I just realized. Finished up just a couple hundo over the weekend after breaking even for most of it. So not a whole lot to report.

$ Left to reach savings goal: $6,725

yourdoom gets 16bb on bovada and charges 300$+ hour.

You should do the same, seems like a lot of guys are willing to overpay

So close to your goal!

Have you been house hunting already or not even going to look around until you have the money goal reached?

I suggest they wait lest they fall in love with a house they aren't ready to buy.

Out of curiosity.. have you looked to see if 2 200nl Zone tables and 2 100nl Zone tables as the same time would be a higher hourly than 2 zone and 2 reg?

We told our realtor to start sending us houses that meet our criteria. We found one out of like 120 that meet it (we're pretty picky--probably too picky). We're still not in a place where we can pull the trigger but we want to go take a look at the house this weekend to see if it looks as good in person as it does online just to set help set our expectations.

I have only played a few 100 hands of zone at NL100 and that was b/c it was the middle of a weekday and there were hardly any players on NL200. It was pretty nitty. Was probably a product of the time of day so haven't really given that a fair shake yet. May try that so thanks for the idea.

I have recently sprinkled in some more regular 6 max tables along with the two NL200 Zone tables. Not near enough sample size to see how it affected my W/R at either of them but seemed to be okay from what I recall. So will probably try that some and then other times try your suggestion.

Prudent advice

Hope us looking at this house this weekend doesn't end up in us impulsively signing our life away again before we have reached the goal. I have already coached up the wife a couple of times. But puppy dog eyes can appear at any time and have immense power.

When it comes to home buying, I think down payments are treated incorrectly.

It seems that approved mortgage amount plus down payment equals price of house while I think it should be price of house minus down payment equals amount of mortgage you get.

I feel thinking about it the first way will lead people to bigger debt while the second will lead to more manageable debt.

Life update:

I'm a new uncle again. My second nephew was born today. Can't wait until he and my second boy are able to play together. My first son and first nephew are a month apart and are very close. So hoping for the second for the second set of our kids.
