The road to playing full time....? The road to playing full time....?

Hi,

I have always wanted to do a proper year long post with goals etc and have never managed to get round to it however I have decided that this is the year...I will explain why.

I am 27 and am from the UK. I currently work full time in a school and play poker 3 evenings a week. I have a girlfriend and a 2yr old daughter. Getting the family-poker-work balance right is very difficult and there often just aren't enough hours in the day!

Poker wise I am backed by Pocarr to play mtts up to $33, $11r and b$55.

I have always been a decent player but recently I feel I have improved a lot and am starting to think about whether I could make it playing full time. While I don't dislike my job I am becoming disillusioned with the education sector in general and do not see a future in it for me. Currently I have no idea of what I would like to do except play poker! It has always been a dream and would like to find out whether it could become a reality or not.

Perhaps by the end of 2015 I will know whether or not this is possible.

I will post a few goals in here and also will try and keep it updated with results etc and hopefully will go on a bit of a journey.

Please let me know what you think and give me any advice for an aspiring full time player.

2015 Goals:
40k profit
Spend far more time studying
Change to PT4
5 Fig score
250k badge on P5s

Also have had 2 HH reviews which have been really helpful and really improved my game.

I plan on buying PT4 over the next couple of days and also getting SS so I can start to post some sexy graphs and **** like others do...!

Until then

Very quiet Sunday. Didn't play much today because I have work/daughter's hospital appt in the morning so played an early schedule but bricked everything! Not much to report on that front....

However in other news I had a good chat with the missus and she has agreed that there is a potential for me to play full time (she doesn't like me playing so this is a BIG deal!). We have discussed what we need in place before we would both feel comfortable with me taking the plunge.

1) Engagement ring - £1k (been together 4yrs and have a daughter so probs due...tho not as due as hutchy)
2) Wedding - £10k Don't necessarily need all but at least a chunk
3) Car - £2k Currently share a car, a second run-around would make life easier
3) Back up fund - £10k To be used during downswings - ****ing MTTs..
4) Clear overdrafts - £4k
5) 2nd child - £0 technically but need to be financially secure

As you cans see form the list it's pretty grown up sh*t but I agree it is all important to do before a playing full time.

At the moment I am making roughly £!250 from playing part time, if I was to continue at this rate it would take me around 2yrs to do all this. Am hoping that as I improve and also move up innn stake this may increase and speed things up! Alternatively I could just bink the SM and be there with change!

So we have a running total to being a full time poke player!!

£27k to go

10k is defo the minimum I would need. Playing backed I think it is enough, I currently earn 1k/month at work so it is like having nearly a year of income in place. What you think is a better amount?

Hey guys

So not played a huge amount since the last post, nothing really to mention in terms of results. Think I've played fine but after a good Jan it was always going to slow down.

I have, however, jumped on board the PT4 train. Really like it, seems far better than HEM2 so will hopefully spend some time over the next few weeks having a play with it. I have also splashed out on a Sharkscope subscription for the year so I have some graphs to add!

Slow start to Feb but will hopefully pick up. Will play tomorrow and maybe Sunday, not sure yet.

I the week after next off work which is great but am moving house which means probably no poker as I don't think we will have the internet set up in time
