Re: The road to becoming a smaller toad

February has been going ok but I've been struggling to put in the hours on the terrible software. So I've set the goal of 3k hands a day for the rest of the month. Also I'm not going out for the rest of the month. I always promise myself I'll just have a few beers but every Saturday morning wake up at someone else's house with a numb nose. So It's my own fault I'm not going out, plus I'll get to play in the super juicy weekend games. It'll also give me the chance to hit the top monthly VIP level which adds another couple % rb, which is always nice given my pitiful winrate.

Re: The road to becoming a smaller toad

Last couple of days have been pretty swingy and very annoying. I've not been playing at all near my best or even well, just running pretty good. These are the times you look back on when your running bad and scorn yourself for making stupid mistakes when running n good and not making anywhere near as much as you could of. Got to play roughly 3k hands a day to reach the next vip status.

Re: The road to becoming a smaller toad

I didn't really put in any volume last weekend and so I'm a little disappointed with myself, so this up coming weekend I'm gunna escrow someone $500 and if I go out they can keep it. I'm not against me going out and I love going out but if it interferes with my goals then its gotta stop.
Played the weirdest hand ever today as well.

***** Hand History for Game 174325457 ***** (Pacific)
$50.00 USD NL Texas Hold'em - Tuesday, February 22, 12:15:17 ET 2011

Seat 4: godblessmywr ( $53.31 USD )
Seat 7: newklear2010 ( $106.41 USD )
Seat 9: robinwardh ( $31.58 USD )
robinwardh posts small blind [$0.25 USD].
tenerifeken7 posts big blind [$0.50 USD].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to tenerifeken7 [ Qh Qc ]
godblessmywr folds
newklear2010 raises [$1.31 USD]
robinwardh folds
tenerifeken7 raises [$4.50 USD]
newklear2010 calls [$3.69 USD]
** Dealing Flop ** [ Jh, 4c, As ]
tenerifeken7 bets [$5.50 USD]
newklear2010 calls [$5.50 USD]
** Dealing Turn ** [ 2c ]
tenerifeken7 checks
newklear2010 bets [$12.00 USD]
tenerifeken7 calls [$12.00 USD]
** Dealing River ** [ 9d ]
tenerifeken7 checks
newklear2010 checks
newklear2010 bets [$33.93 USD]
tenerifeken7 shows [Qh, Qc ]
tenerifeken7 wins $76.92 USD from main pot

So the river goes check check with me planning on folding the river and somehow the software glitches and he bets i fold and show and win the pot.

I've reached my bankroll target for another shot at 100nl. This will prob be my last so hope it goes well. I'm not going to just jump into random games to take a shot, just mix in a couple of good 100nl games while still playing 50.

Re: The road to becoming a smaller toad

Feb was never going to be a big month. I just wanted to get a solid month in and rebuild the roll after Jan. It ended with me chasing the BBJ on UB which was over 1m. I lost like 10BI but had BI's worth of action in other games so I broke even. It hit at .5/1 FLHE, 12 minutes after I stopped grinding for the day(14 hours total). I'd have ended it if it would have hit at 50nl.
This months gunna be my last shot at 100nl. If it doesn't go to plan then I'm prob just gunna call it a day on poker.

Re: The road to becoming a smaller toad

Hey everybody long time no blog.

Near the beginning is 25plo and near the end is .5/1, so im up a bit for the year now which is super.

Shot taking is going really well as you can see. The games are pretty good and I've been table selecting well. I'm just struggling to put in some volume at these stakes though in fear of going busto like my last attempt.

Re: The road to becoming a smaller toad

So Tuesday was my biggest losing day since last March. It kinda didn't affect me though which pleases me a lot. I was kinda annoyed at myself for jumping into 100plo games as I often found myself thinking, "I've got no clue what to do here." I'm pretty sure I was a fish in the game.

Followed this up with a good plo session at 50 the day after which is always nice after a big downswing. I can't show any hands because the site I play on is rubbish but there were some pretty entertaining hands including me getting it in, in a 400bb pot with the otehr guy drawing dead on the flop.

This was followed up by some pretty swingy holdem action.

I've been really thinking about my mindset this week. I think I'm robbing myself of a lot of money by caring too much about winrate and hourly. Like I'll avoid playing for the rest of the day if I win a couple of BI's early on because the quick win will boost my winrate. But whats the point of having a $30 hourly if your only going to play an hour a day. The only thing that matters is I'm getting better/playing well and the money in the bank. **** winrates/hourly/graphs there only their to show other people how well your doing. I went like 7 hours today not looking at my cashier as well, really pleased with myself.
I'm going to be putting in loads of volume over the next month. I've given myself till August to have an 20k roll and taking some shots at 2/4. So 4 months at 3k a month isn't too difficult especially with rb and the network of poker friends and resources I have available. The only thing stopping me is me, and I'm a **** tbh. Well that changes now.

On this turn I think his range is weighted towards bluffs and fd's. It doesn't make any sense for him to raise better as I still have a lot of bluffs in my range. River was close again and he snapped shoved so I think it's a fold. He could also be taking a retarded line with AA etc

This hand I was completely lost with what to do on the turn. I have exactly pot left. The villain is unknown but later turned out to be a huge fish. C/f sucks, c/c sucks, shoving sucks. Comments are very welcome.

Also had my first plo coaching session with togl from the coaching forum. Very helpful and informative and looking forward to future sessions. Unfortunately pacific doesn't save omaha HH properly so I can't post any interesting hands.
Also booked a coaching session with ssnl's very own Jack Wilcox which I am looking forward to.
I failed to make platinum this month but only put in 25k hands.

Goals for April
[ ] 60k hands. I say this every month but this month I'm super focused to put some hours in. I'm finally comfortable with playing 100nl and the games are good so there's nothing stopping me
[ ]More coaching
[ ] Solid hours in at plo
[ ] platinum

Went back down to 50nl for today. Went quite well although was stressful towards the end. Seemed like I doubled up all the fish and just stacked the regs.

Re: The road to becoming a smaller toad

Sup bitches. Long time no blog.
I got bored of NL so i'm switching over to plo. Games are super soft even though I am super bad. Anyone wanna talk over plo strat sometime pm me.
I'm aiming to play 10 hours day everyday this month because I've been a huge toad since.... forever.
I shipped the 10 hours yesterday playing a mix of 50/100/200 plo and have done 5 hours today.

Thats the last time I show my ev line as well, hate people who do that.

Seen as this thread hasn't really got any direction to it I'm gunna post a bankroll, bankroll target and aim for the month.

    Bankroll-$5k
    Bankroll target-$10k
    Aim for month:
    [ ] 10 hours a day
    [ ] $3k profit
    [ ] $3k rb + bonuses
    [ ] take some shots at 200plo
