Only dark mild? Nothing else at all? That is a very odd choice indeed.

It's an exceptionally unusual pub.

Well, that's rarely a bad thing.

So I realized I dropped off the face of the planet for the last few days, however that's what happens when you're able to drink again. Started of with this...

Spoiler:

Creme Brûlée Stout by Southern Tier. Had heard a lot about this beer during the month of my hiatus so decided to give it a whirl. Overall, I was meh. This beer is not as good as it smells. Nor does it have the best mouthfeel in the world. But damned if it didn't smell good!

Pretty dark and not lot of head, but it does have a lingering amount that sticks to the side of the glass. When it comes to taste, there's just too much vanilla! It needed to be more balanced with chocolate or coffee as the vanilla was just too overbearing. This is by no means a bad tasting beer but it doesn't do what you would expect from the nose.

Overall, I could have chosen something better for my first beer back.

But, then there was THIS!!!

Spoiler:

Sweet Repute XXX by Founders. This was released during this weekends Founders' Cellar Raid. Sweet Repute aged 3 years in bourbon barrels most recently used to age maple syrup. Draft pour into a snifter.

This beer was AMAZING. AMAZING! The look was a rich amber color. Barely any head quickly settled into a thin ring lining the glass. The smell? Whoa! Maple syrup and boozy fruits. Dates and figs.

Taste was pretty much the same as the small. Sweet, boozy but deceptively drinkable at 12.6%. No harsh alcohol. The bourbon and the maple from the barrel are prevalent but not overpowering. May be too sweet for some, but I love the sweetness. Wheat character comes through a bit on the back end.

Overall, Sweet Repute was an instant favorite of mine when released as a part of the backstage series, and they've managed to improve upon it entirely. I feel sorry for those that weren't able to try this.

As for poker, things have been a little down and up. Saturday, I didn't really get any play in, just bricked a few SNG's. Sunday, was kind of a day that you'd like to forget. Dropped a butt load of cash at the cash tables. Felt pretty gutted and actually decided at that point, I was not playing cash any longer. I realize that I probably won't be able to get in as much volume playing MTT's, but I have to accept that I'm a better tournament player and that my hourly will improve by making the switch even if I'm not able to put in as much time. So, since then, I've actually posted some decent results. Managed to final table the Nightly $11, finishing 6th, made the final two tables of the Nightly $109 that I used that ticket for and binked a small $5 MTT today! Now, just grinding one tourney tonight, relaxing and listening to some music.

Would love some feedback from the solid MTT crushers out there and what you use for your HUD and also some of the best training material out there? Any help would be much appreciated!

Night guys.

Sup peeps!

Wasn't sure how much I was gonna be able to play seeing how I met up with my stepmom for drinks and dinner after work. Played a couple of MTT's via mobile this afternoon bubbling the $11 Early Bird after getting crippled with A8o in SB vs CO limp and shoving <20bb effective and got snapped by BB w/ 99 who held. Then played the $5.50 $1K guarantee KO and min cashed with 4-5 KO's. Finished up with some cash and made a bit of profit. Then called it quits, went to meet up with my stepmom and had a couple of these....

Spoiler:

Mmmmmmmmmm, Kona Brown by Perrin. First off, the smell is great. Great fresh aromatic coffee notes along with some slight nuttiness from the malt that gives this a hazelnut coffee like aroma. Very pleasant. Nice rich toffee like malt finish in the nose. Awesome aromas with this one.

Taste follows the nose with rich coffee and toffee malt flavors that blend wonderfully giving this an awesome rich warm flavor on the front end. Some lighter caramel like malt finishes with some mild sweetness and a very mild earthy hoppy bitterness.

Mouthfeel is good. Mild stickiness but light body keeps this very drinkable.

This is an awesome coffee brown everything I love in the style blended perfectly with fresh coffee flavors and aromas and all around well balanced. Very yummy!

Stayed a little bit longer than I had planned on. By the time I got home, wasn't really sure what to do, but decided on late-reg'ing both the Nightly $5.50 and $11. Bricked both pretty quickly in standard spots. Then loaded up the Nightly $11 KO, the $2k guarantee $5.50, a $5.50 PLO8 and a $11 HORSE. Totally bricked the first three with ease, but was able to ship the HORSE for a nice chunk. Overall, finished up ~$130 for the day so I'll take it. Now off to bed so NIGHT EVERYONE!
