Me = good player when plays A game....I think Problem is that I play my A game rarely.
- Has plagued me for many years. I have tried everything, but its essentially up to me.
- Have mucked around with PLO since beginning of the year while still playing 6max NL but now want to play focus on PLO.
- Now have a job in Melbourne, so cannot rely on volume and pay the bills by being a rake back pro/I don't need to pay bills from poker due to having a job so no reason to play when I don't want to.
GOALS: End of year, be well rolled for 100PLO....there is no rush as I will not be withdrawing from my roll at all (well I hope so anyway).
1ST STEP: Win 20 buyins at 5PLO.....will look to play some deep tables, but mainly 100bb tables.
NEED TO PLAY A GAME OR PLO VARIANCE WILL KILL ME, RUNNING BAD AT GETTING IN THE WRONG END OF 60/40 FLIPS IS NOT FUN.
If anyone sees me playing 10PLO+ on Stars before I win 20 buyins at 5PLO will get transferred 10$ on Stars. My PS SN: Jubinator. (I may change this rule but must post here prior to playing if I bink a tourney for millions or something )

Have played another 2 sessions of 250 hands~ since last post.
They were a game of to halves.
1st sessions I should have finished earlier was getting tired and not focused fully on thee pokerz. Made a couple mistakes but I knew right away, they are generally times when I am facing a large turn bet and I think WTF AM I DOING IN THIS SPOT!!!
Session 2 just wrapped up, played a lot better, it is surprising how much FE you can have on the river in PLO, if the board is something like 234ddQ6dr....you can just apply so much pressure on the PFR and they cannot call despite getting 10:1 on the river (well some players will call AA**).
Preflop: Hero is CO with 7 T 9 4

Hero showed 7 T 9 4 and lost (-$5 net)
BTN showed A A K J and won $9.90 ($4.90 net)
Also going to implement a 4 buyin stop loss for the day. It is not much in PLO but my history sees me tilting a fair bit and I do not have to play heaps at this stage.
Havent played much at all since last update, kinda annoying but o well. Overall down about 4 buyins since started the thread.
Played a couple tourneys earlier.....then bout 45mins in the fire alarm in hostel went off lol. So had to go outside, got talking, forgot about tournaments, got back to have a couple BB left in each....fail.
In cash games, I actually changed tables a couple times as there was this reg who is solid (not many at 5PLO obv) but wasnt fun being OOP to him so made life easy and changed tables. Have done that less than 10 times since I started playing poker prolly.....
Gonna play 800 hands or so tonight.
Update: Finally got a new computer, so will now be playing with a HUD. Was quite interesting looking at my stats given I have no idea how loose/tight I was playing.
Normally I raise here, however I felt like flatting here was slight better as 3 ways the flop can hit these villains fairly well. The player behind me was also very aggressive on flops so felt that I can underrep my hand and get him to spew chips which in turn would spew chips by the original bettor is likely to continue lighter facing a raise from the latter player than me.
It turns out I had 59% equity on flop which is EPIC 3 ways, and 'only' 53% on the turn which I considered a blank. But anyway yay for holding.
Hmm, if the 7 was a 8 I think flatting is better, but the 7 is just unco enough that I think we should in fact raise here all the time. Hmm will play around with some equities.

Hero showed K A K 8 and won $7.35 ($4.78 net)

Turn: ($3.28) 4 (3 players)

how many tables do you play ???
also, how many BI do you aim at for being properly roller for PLO100? 50 BI?
4 -6 tables, I stick to the fast tables generally.
A few levels to graduate before PLO 100. But I would say I would be confortable with 40 - 50 buyins. I would also play 50PLO Deep/Ante tables when playing 100bb 100PLO tables, and the odd soft 100PLO deep/ante table
If we get checked to HU and our villain has more than 33% equity, they are making an error by folding if we make a pot size bet on the turn. Therefore, when we make the bet half pot, they are making a mistake when they have more than 25% equity. *This assumes that all stacks are going in on the current street as implied odds etc. influence the true equity %, especially as villain is out of position as they need to play a guessing game.
This is why check calling is horrible out of position with a marginal hand!
This sentence seems incomplete to me. What action is villain taking when you bet half pot?
Last week has been a upswing then a downswing, didnt quite get to the 20 buyin at peak. Plan for the next few days is:
Tomorrow play a session after work which will bring me to 20k hands in the challenge at which point I will do some good work looking through my HEM as well as updating graphs etc here.
Then Friday night I am going to play the APPT Melbourne PLO 340$ event. Shall be good. I am playing it regardless, but I wouldn't mind selling a lil action(no markup, up to 30%). The buyin is coming from my life roll so wont effect this challenge. If anyone is interested let me know here or by PM. Really looking forward to playing a live tourney, not such a fan of playing live cash but live tournys = bring it on
Also if anyone wants me to add them to Skype, let me know. Keen to get some more PLO contacts.
20k hands for 16 $ at PLO...I wouldn't have the discipline to stay at this level!
GL
Lol haven't thought about it like that! Don't think I want to haha. Its all good though that I am playing for the enjoyment/learning now, rather than having to rely on rake back to pay the bills (rake back pro ftw).
Always forget to note interesting hands during my sessions, but anyway, here is a hand I played in session just before.
Villain is 33/17/28 and had this one key note on him: c/c, donk line was FD + TP
So pre is obviously fine, on the flop I am probably b/f, my hand is face up to him as AA** and I dont think he is going to be check raising lightly as his CR % was 6 after 900 hands or so.
So his flop line was likely some pair + gutter or JTQ or something weakish with equity.
The turn card is one that hits him very well, and he insta jammed it. Given the insta jam, I felt that it almost entirely ruled out an 8, if he had 98 he would get it in on the flop and if he had 8*** he would be checking again as Im am going to barrel this card with all my AA** stuff.
I then actually looked at my notes for once and saw the note and inst shipped. This resulted in me getting it in 77/23 ahead. If I didnt have the note I may fold versus someplayers (probably not him, I just found it cool that I used a note).
Session that I wrapped up 20mins ago....got back to even......kinda
