My Poker Journey! My Poker Journey!

Hello everyone Toolzz coming at you from western massachusetts. Iv'e played at the casinos in CT before but just for fun, have begun starting taking it more seriously lately so I decided I would start a thread. I have always been an internet player dating back to when I was 18 and poker stars was thriving. I still play online and make the occasional sports bets as well. My goal is to do this for a living one day. I am in no rush though, I have a decent job; but I am also sick of massachusetts and the people around me so I just want a way out.

I'm 26. A little older than some of the people who take shots at this, but imo poker isn't really an age thing. Going to make the 1 Hr 40 min drive at least 1-2 a month to start grinding live at Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. Going to use this thread just to track my progress as well as track some of the online stuff I got going on.

To start with B+M casino poker I just picked a small bankroll that I could easily lose and not worry if need be. $3,000 to start at 1/2 NL. (15BI) I will also occasionally play 1/1 NL and 2/4 limit when I feel like it. (mostly to play a less stressful game).

I took the trip yesterday. I played 1/1 for 30 mins while I waited to be seated at 1/2. I won an all in hand like 5 hands in. I limped with 5 5 and somehow it was heads up with me and another guy. He bets out on flop of like 5 A J, I think the bet was way over the pot something like $20. I raise it up to $50 i think he raises again and I just go all in. He snap calls with A J. I show the set and take down a profit of $165 on that one hand. After that I move over to 1/2. I buy in for $200 (just about the house money). After 7 hours I was up to $735 something profit was $535. Took a break for dinner (comped of course) and walked around for a little.

Now I had planned to stay all weekend if need be with the long holiday weekend, but wasn't really feeling great. I go back in and sign up for 1/1 or 2/4 limit just to have a little fun and buy in with a small amount. I end up stuck $140 at 1/1. I started playing bad. At that point I decided to make the drive home with a $395 profit after 10 hours of playing.

Old Live Bankroll: $3,000
New Live bankroll: $3,365 (minus $30 gas money)
Online Poker roll: $1,200
Online sports roll: $241.78 (if i win in sports I usually just put it in poker roll, its way more important).

Ive been struggling with 10nl online, I definitely am a better live player than online. I miss the days where I could play limit at poker stars and just destroy.

Thanks if you read this, I am trying to get better with strategy and all that as well.

I haven't disappeared. Been going through a tough time at my work. A lot of stress and basically no free time to do anything. I made it to the casino last weekend and I was down $5.00 at 1/2 after playing for 5 hours.

I'm starting my bankroll over at $4,000 for live poker on that day, so now it is at $3,995. There were a couple big hands in the session that I will post for discussion.

-I had about $150 left off a $200 buy in. Three people post flop. I have T 9 in my hand. Flop comes something like T 5 5. It checks around. Turn comes 5. I bet about half the pot, one guy folds and the other guy raises. I did not call. he shows a T. We would have split, but I would have only made about 15 bucks from the third guy that called preflop.

-Heads up vs the same guy who raised me out of the last pot. I Have Q7 of clubs. Flop comes Q, 4, 8 with two clubs. He checks I check. Turn comes another rag no club. I check he bets 28 I call. River comes another dud no club, and I have top Pair with weak kicker. He bets 100 into the pot which is like 60. I was so close to calling. I put him on a potential ace high busted flush, but my thinking was he likely has a better kicker if he has a queen. I fold and he shows K, 2 of clubs for king high busted draw.

-A couple of hands later I am little tilted and get TT again. Heads up with another guy who called my preflop raise. Flop comes all rags something like 7, 6, 2. I act first and bet. he calls. Turn comes a 7 and I shove the remaining 75$ or so I have. He calls. He had a 7x hand.

-I buy back in for $200...first hand I get dealt AK off suit. I raise pre flop and it folds to one guy and he calls. Flop comes A, A, 7. I check he checks. Turn is a Q. I bet out $20. He raises all in. I snap call and he turns over pocket Queens. He has QQQAA and I have AAA at this point. River is a 7 and it gives me the higher full house. That gets me back to even money. The guy was so dejected I felt bad lol.

I guess I should update my online rolls as well. I went busto in sports awhile ago and haven't bet any since.

Online Poker: $1,000
Casino Poker: $3,995

Been spending more time studying the game. I have a ton of books and online places to read, plus I'm joining crush liver poker soon. Just catching up on some other materials first. Casino again this weekend, and I will have more time to play close to 8-10 hours. I will probably break it up into two sessions. I don't really play any of the other casino games so usually I just break to eat, on the house of course .

Casino this weekend I played for 9 hours and was down 150 bucks. Lost a good chunk when I hit a nut flush on the flop. The bored wasn't even that scary. It checks around. No action really comes until villain hits runner runner for a full house and he shoves. I of course had to call the 113$. I was ok with my play overall, but again made a few mistakes.

The plus side is I had another local to my area at the table and he told me about some games that run thurs-sun in my local area. So it saves me trips to the casino.

Played for the first time at the local bar last night. They had a $25 buy in Tournament. It had about 30 people and payed out 4 spots. I finished 3rd and made $100 profit. I said I would buy lunch for my coworkers if I did good so I will be doing that, so taking $60 out of the winnings. So down $-53 live since starting to track. No casino this weekend. Will go back to the bar and play on Sunday. Not a bad week $+102 in low limit local games.

Online wise I have a bet pending on Serena Williams to win Wimbeldon $250 to win $100.
