Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

I would recommend the 1/3 at aria. Super easy to lose a few k at 2/5 in Vegas. If you want to buy in for 100bbs you can play it but the games are really hit or miss. I played that 5/5 at the bike and that was a bit softer compared to most 2/5 games here. 1/3 is a $300 buy in and the 2/5 is 200-1000. Bellagio has lower max buy ins at 2/5 and 5/10. It's a 500 max for 2/5 like that 5/5 bike game. That might be up your alley. Those games are good. The 1/2-3 games are usually much better than 2/5. A lot more dead money is there.

Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

So would you recommend playing 1-3 at Aria and 2-5 at Bellagio because of the smaller cap?

Because that sounds pretty good for me since dropping 1K on the table for a buy-in seems like a lot right now

Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

So I leave tomorrow morning to Vegas and i am so excited to go I probably won't be able to sleep very well tonight.

I hope i can play both Friday and Saturday, but might only be able to play 1 night. I am planning to play 2-5 at Bellagio and/or Aria and hope to boost my bankroll. I think the action will be pretty good since it's march madness and their should be a lot of people in town wondering into the poker room, hopefully

Wish me luck!!

Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

So my first night here didn't go so well when it came to the poker. I played 2-5 at Aria and got coolered when I flopped top 2 on an A 10 5 board and got it in OTR for about a $1000 pot (biggest of my life so far) and he shows me bottom set. GG

Other than that Vegas is awesome!! I love it here and hopefully can come back pretty soon. I have 1 more night here, but I'm not sure if I am going to play. Might just hang out with the group tonight.

Probably going to do a full Trip Report when I get home

Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

Got bored and decided to play the 1-2 game at harrah's (where I am staying). Game didn't have much action or money on the table but I found some spots and made $86 in 3 hours.

I actually really liked the poker room at Harrah's. Its enclosed in its own room across from the sprotsbook. Pretty small room, only spread 1-2 (60-300) and normally only a handful of tables. But it felt very comfortable and friendly. If you are looking for action though, keep on moving down the strip

Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

Las Vegas Trip report:

We leave my house at 9:30 AM Friday while i hoped the other car was gonna leave at pretty much the same time. The drive out there was relatively traffic free so we got to State line at about 1 and stopped at Buffalo Bill's to get some extremely late breakfast. This place seemed really dark and dingy to me, I felt like we were in a bar when we got there. So after we eat we get back on the road and arrive at Harrahs at about 3.

The name on the room, unfortunately, was under the name of someone in the other car so we had to wait for them. We check our bags started drinking (Gotta love Vegas) and walked around the casino a little bit. The other group was staying at the Palazzo so they checked in before us. We had to wait for over 2 hours because the birthday boy's ID had expired and hadn't gotten the new ID from the DMV. IDK why this is a problem since he had the paper showing he had it renewed but w/e.

Most of my friends know nothing about poker but hear about how i have been making money and want to make a little bit themselves, so 2 of them give me $100 as a 20% stake for he games that night. We finally got settled in our and the other poker player in the group says he wants to start playing so we get to the Venetian poker room and get seated almost immediately. I really like this casino and the poker room because it seemed so new and upscale. Got into a horrible 2/5 game with the biggest nits in LV i thought. So after an hour of boring poker we go to Aria in hopes of better games.

Got into a 1/3 game as i waited for my seat in the 2/5 game. Tried to bluff a good player when all the draws got there but he called with 3rd pair. Got into the 2/5 game even on the day and hoped to play all night and eat breakfast with the group at the Palazzo buffet at 8AM when they wanted to go. Had a pretty bad run of cards and never got anything going and got coolered (i think) when i raised preflop in the CO with A10s and got called in 2 spots. Flop came out A 10 5 and I bet 1 fold BB raises and i ship he shows 55 GG.

So after losing $300 i wanted to start drinking with everyone else. I meet up with them inside PH at Earl of Sandwich. I had missed a lot apparently because someone threw up in the Palazzo suite and birthday boy slapped him the head and now doesn't want to see him the rest of the trip (Both very drunk at this point). We end up just walk around the strip while i downed my fat tuesday.

This is when i really got to see the town at night and it was overwhelming. It was so amazing i didn't wanna ever leave, it was just too awesome. That made me completely forget about losing some money. KO'd at about 2:30 in a room with 6 people and only 2 beds. Somehow woke up at 6:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. We get everyone up a couple hours later and go eat at the Palazzo buffet. At this time i realized that i hadn't eaten since 1PM the day before (now 9:30AM). So inhaled my food and probably ate more at that meal then the whole trip combined.

We go back to Harrahs and i decided that i want some of my money back so i go to the poker room at Harrahs to play. This room could be really nice if they had more traffic ,granted it was noon but there should be more then 2 tables on a saturday right? I played for a little bit and nothing of note happened and i left after 3 hours up $86. The thing i like most about this room was it was totally away from the noisy casino and in its own room.

I didn't feel like playing again that night so we split up and most of them went to XS and had to pay big $$ to get in, while the rest of us just toured the strip and got drunk (Which one sounds more fun to you haha). We went into Ceasers which was just massive and very elegant it seemed. I must have looked like a tourist just looking at the huge sportsbook and walking around in amazement. That night we KO'd at 1ish and i got a good night of sleep before we left at about 11. We went to eat at the Rio's buffet but it was $30... So we just ate at the BK lounge? (I think that's what it was called) gourmet obv.

Finally left the city at 1 and ran into the worst traffic i have ever been in. Backed up for miles before State line and then near Victorville the freeway just stopped and it took 2.5-3 hours to get through the Cajon pass. We didn't get home till 8...

To sum it up, I had a great time and can't wait to go back. I feel that even if I won at poker or broke even i don't think i would have that much better of a trip. I turn 21 on 7/10 so i'll be back the weekend after that and hopefully i can beat the games there this time

Sorry for TL;DR

V1 : Winning 25nl online player, nut not a great live player, have played with him in this game probably 50+ hours. Leans toward LAG play and seems to be kind of a station OTR

Hero : Looser than a typical TAG but not out of line much.

Playing .10/.25 5 handed with ~200bb effective stacks:

I open UTG+1 to .85 with A2 CO calls and V1 calls on the button

Flop ($2.55) A42

I bet $1.75 CO folds V1 calls pretty quickly

Turn ($6.05) 8

I check, knowing that he is an aggressive player and takes advantage of perceived weakness. He bets $4 and i consider c/r here but i thought it would fold almost all his single paired Aces and only better hands would continue. So i just call

River ($14.05) 9

I check with the intention of calling pretty much any bet. He takes a pretty long time (He is a slower player but this was just a little bit longer than usual) and bets $12.50.

Is this always a better hand? There were almost no draws on the flop and he doesn't normally slow play big hands (sets, straights etc)

Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

Just got back from the Crystal. The just starting running a new game which is bigger then the 1/2 (40-100) finally. It's a 3/5 (100-500) with tons of action. All the rich guys who had to settle for losing their money $100 at a time can now lose it $500 at a time.

Jumped right in to the game once i saw how juicy it was. It was a super action game which meant i had to sit back and wait for hands and/or good spots. I then got a really ad run of cards and didn't play a hand for literally 2 hours. But then this happened:

LAGtard UTG raises to $50 (semi-standard for him) and reg on the button makes it $150 SB calls the $150 and i look down at QQ. I ship it in for $145 more, LAGtard fold (somehow) and both others call.
Spoiler:

Unfortunately i lost a ~$400 pot whe i got it AI OTF against a guy with KK against his QQ and he spiked a Queen OTR to scoop it. But hey, cant win em all i guess. Ended the session up $250

Current Bankroll : $4,704

Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

Couldn't get a full home game going last night so we had a 3 handed game. We made a rule that everyone had to buy buy in for at least $40 at .10/.20 and must re-buy if bust within 3 hours. So the session started out well and i got up early then took a beat or 2, nothing big but good size pots. The steam was coming out of my ears the last hour of the game and i just started putting $10 in blind every hand ended the game down $80

Very upset with how i played last night since i thought i had my tilt under control. Luckily it was at home and not at a casino for bigger money.

Current Bankroll : $4,624

Re: $25,000 BR grinding live low stakes by the end of 2012

So i didn't plan on playing tonight but my friend wanted to see the 3/5 game at the Crystal so we went before he had to go back to Santa Barbara for school. We only had 2 hours to play before he had to leave. I normally don;t like putting a time restriction on my play but i felt like "redeeming" myself after my terrible play last night.

We got there and they had an interest list for the 3/5 game and 3 1/2 games running. I didn't want to start a new game and leave so we both sat at a 1/2 game. It was a little bit nitty but i got in a couple good spots and hit a few hands and won $75

Current Bankroll : $4,699
