GL OP. Just don't confuse yourself with USD and THB. I heard stuff is really cheap over there? How's Thai food? Your room looks great and I expected to see worse but your place is absolutely beautiful. Hope you run good.

Eating out in restaurants every day so spending around $5-$10 a meal, could spend less by going to local places or eating street food I guess. Gym is like $1 for a session, don't really have other expenses except for rent, not sure how much clubbing costs around here. Everyone plays different stuff, one guy plays HU hypers, one guy plays 10/20 6-max, two guys play HU cash games, one guy zoom one guy SNGs, not sure about the others.

I have a messed up sleep cycle I really need to fix. I tend to fall asleep around 8pm and wake up at 4am and then waste time until 9am. Watched around 4-5 hours of videos yesterday while taking notes, plan for today is to finish Janda's button vs blind play series, start his OOP 3-bet pots series and maybe watch some Runitonce vids. Getting Flopzilla asap so I can start doing range homework. My plan for this is to pick a specific situation, generate many different flops and split ranges accordingly. To start, I will use button vs big blind flatting situations, generate flops and split ranges into check back and betting ranges.

Really really interested in this thread. I've been considering making a similar move lately, just moving to Thailand and focusing entirely on improving my game and grinding. I'm currently in the final year/semester of my studies (so got another month left basically), after which my options are to either pursue poker more seriously/do the Thai thing, or get a job related to my degree.

You got any advice for someone who's looking to make the move? How'd you find the people you're currently living with? You just look around on 2+2? Did you know any of these people from before, or are they completely new to you? Also, what's the house like (how big, how much are you paying etc.)? I play NL50-150 on a Swedish network, and over the past year and a half I've averaged around $3k a month, I take it you'd get by just fine making close to this amount of $ in Thailand?

Gl with everything!

I met all the people living here after arriving, I found the place on 2+2 and didn't know anyone before. I've been changing countries all my life so wasn't too hard for me. The place is in the suburbs and has 3 houses on the same property with 3 grinders sharing each house. I pay around $600 a month in rent but you can find cheaper places too. $3k should be more than enough depending on your lifestyle.

Haven't done too much theory yesterday but played around 3.5k hands. I then went out for clubbing, met some other players and came back pretty drunk. The internet is so horrible these days that I will focus on videos. Got disconnected during a few big pots, happy I'm only playing 25NL unlike the other guys. Plan for the day is to go for late breakfast and then finish Janda's button vs blind play series and his OOP 3-bet pot play series. Will probably watch some Runitonce tomorrow. Gotta make use of those subscriptions

Recently got CrEV and Flopzilla, will be spending time on both to get less exploitable. I also moved up to 50NL on Stars and will see how it goes. Lost ~$450 on 888 playing casino games so will now stick to Stars and other rooms without a casino just in case. My EV on Zoom is around -1bb/100 over ~25k hands so I would be up after rake back if I wasn't running so much below EV. My plan for now is to finish all the CrEV tutorials and get started with it ASAP.

Been to Malaysia since the first doing a visa run and visiting a friend so I haven't played since the end of last month. I started playing heads up to work on my post-flop skills; mostly waiting in the lobby and playing Zoom/regs while I wait. I got a coach for 6-max to work on my game faster. I also started taking hand written notes on every video I watch to make sure I pay attention and remember the concepts better. I will finish Sean Lefort's videos while I'm here since I really like the way he makes videos and teaches concepts.

You seem really dedicated and I wish you all the best.

I'm new to 2+2 and I'm just wondering if you can tell me how much (on a scale of 1-10, perhaps) discussing poker with other players has helped you over the years? I've kept to myself quite a lot in the past but I'm looking to get serious with poker and am willing to do what's necessary to improve.

Discussing with other poker players has probably helped me more than almost anything else so far. I have my own biases that I don't often notice but having my play reviewed by other people often shows me flaws in the way I play or think about the game that I wouldn't necessarily see by myself right away. When someone asks me things like 'what are you trying to accomplish by betting here?' and I don't know how to answer, I know I must be doing something wrong.

I found that I've been pretty inconsistent with my efforts so far; sometimes I can watch videos for 12 hours straight and sometimes I do nothing for a few days. I am flying back to Thailand tomorrow and I will be setting myself SMART goals to do on a weekly basis so that I can have a more stable and measurable progress.

Weekly goals I have for now:

Play 10k+ hands of poker
Analyze 5+ big winning hands (75BB+) and write down the ranges from both perspectives
Analyze 5+ big losing hands (75BB+) and write down the ranges from both perspectives
Analyze 5+ hands where I called a 3bet in position and write down the ranges from both perspectives
Analyze 5+ hands where I 3bet the button from the blinds and write down the ranges from both perspectives
Analyze 5+ hands where I played 77-JJ without initiative and write down the ranges from both perspectives
Analyze 5+ hands where I 3bet AK OOP and write down the ranges from both perspectives
Analyze 5+hands where I played the turn and river HU OOP in a single raised pot with initiative and write down the ranges from both perspectives
Analyze 5+ hands where I played the turn and river HU IP in a single raised pot without initiaitve and write down the ranges from both perspectives

At the end of every week I should have an analysis and range breakdown of at least 40 hands from a variety of spots and I believe this will help me pick up leaks and improve faster than only doing theory or playing. I will be sharing my ranges breakdowns here to get some feedback and suggestions.

Probably doing something wrong with CrEV, I just spent 2-3 hours analyzing one single board runout and it's a big confusing mess I can't follow or understand. I guess I should try simpler trees with less branches or simply do hand vs range since I don't think I'm learning anything from doing this monstrous tree. I kind of gave up on the near the river since the tree got too confusing.

I'm way behind pace with the analysis since I went out during the week end and came back with a chick who ended up staying in my room for 3 days, and I later got super sick and had to stay in bed because I had fever and could barely focus. On top of that my HM2 stopped working and whatever I do doesn't seem to help. Tomorrow and Sunday I'll probably be doing a lot of simpler analysis of hand vs range on CrEV and also do range vs range with spots that don't have too many branches (like only check/call or bet/call and skip everything with check/raising ranges or overbetting ranges). I really want to have these 40 hands done by the end of the week.

Pretty terrible button clicking I guess, should have folded pre but he started 4betting me pretty wide after I kept 3betting his 3x opens so I convinced myself to play the hand and I guess I was a bit tilted from losing all these buy ins so quickly. Also busted every MTT I tried playing today so pretty ****ty day overall. Haven't started my analysis yet really behind pace there. Sucks to have the day end like this, I was getting really excited after the maniac lost a few buy ins and kept rebuying, might have got a few more buy ins out of him had he not won that massive pot.
