Thanks both Ed and meale for the kind words!

I didn't purposely take a break the last week. I got sick again . And with training for my new job having started on Sunday, I decided to just work when I had to, go home and rest so I could hopefully be 100% from it instead of dragging through.

Not 100% even still, but close enough to where it was worth the time away. I may get a session in tonight, or I may just compile April reports and set a goal for May. Just thought I would update!

So I don't really want to look at my April goals. Basically, they were all a pretty big failure. I took a bunch of smaller breaks because at times I simply didn't feel like playing. It's not my main revenue stream, so there really isn't much pressure if I don't feel like playing.

That being said, I do feel like I played better in April. I made more of a mental task to open more hands in later position. Yet if I look at the stats, it doesn't look different at all.

I'll post the graph, but there are so few hands that it's almost not worth it. As always, what happens when my blue line stays very stagnant? I lose, because my game style is to win more at showdown and not as aggro.

I also am currently on a 7 session losing streak. It's pretty absurd, but if I can win 7 in a row in poker then I can lose 7 in a row in poker. It's just very rare.

So, whats my plans for May? I'm going for lower goals. Mainly it's because I don't know yet how my new position will impact the time allotted that I can play poker. I'll adjust it for June once I have a better understanding.

-5 hours of poker play this week and 10 hours of play the remaining 3 weeks minimum
-Raise my VPIP/PFR! It's always a goal but it's dropped down yet again.

Let's get this thread and my original goals back on track!

Yeah that volume...so sexy! And I don't know where brokenstars got all high and mighty thinking I was complaining. Whatever.

Finally back on the grind! Could only squeeze in an hour, but it's better than nothing. Like I said, this month is more about me finding time and adjusting to my new schedule than tons of volume. I was definitely a bit rusty, probably in the range of a B-/B game, but I ran well to offset quite well.

Holy hell. I like my new job and it's actually mentally stimulating. I don't know where the hell yesterday went haha I came home and just slept the night away. That's my bad, Friday night's I either need to be playing poker, out on a date, or out with friends. Not dead because my brain was overload. Totally worth it though.

Played ~1.5 hours today. Did a bunch of adult stuff beforehand, hence sucky volume. Lost a pot with TPTK against a turned boat, then grinded up back to almost even, then got lucky with AA > KK AIPF. I thought I played pretty well, B+/A-. I also mixed some FR tables since 6max wasn't really running. Volume should be better next week as I get a bit more settled in and not as much on overload.

Being in front of a computer for almost 9 hours at work kind of kills wanting of being behind a computer more away from work. But the poker is back to fun. Played 1.5 hours, would have won a BI had it not been for a 40bb stack calling a pf jam with 32o against my kings and the flop coming A45 :O. Oh well. Pretty much shrugged it off. I think the reason for that is because, so far, I actually like my job. I'm not unhappy unlike I was at my old position. I don't feel pressure that "oh, I HAVE to win this session so I can finish sooner." But maybe feeling that pressure is a good thing. I played ~B game today. As I said, it's rough getting used to tons of working hours on a computer then focusing in leisure time on a computer.

And to those dogging my volume and hard work, that's fair. Like I said, I'd rather focus on a smooth transition now and find a way to fit poker around that than burn myself out with poker and have it affect me. I'm starting to think I've found a groove though.

Thanks!

I feel like crap leaving this thread to rot a little bit. But for a good cause! I actually bought my brother's old car off of him rather than spending about $7k more for a used car at the same make and model. And sold my old car to my little sister for a small amount. I loved my old car! Bought it almost 5 years ago for $3k, a 97 sunfire. The previous owner kept good care of it and it only had 85,000 miles when I bought it. But it was starting to rust a bit and I wanted something newer. It's taken me the good majority of the last 3 days getting everything transfer and fixed up and cleaned (the interior of the car was a mess with him having 3 kids, looks 5 times better now). But well worth it. Once the new mirror gets in in a couple days, I'll have a car that isn't pushing 20 years old! I've also been looking into colleges and the best fit for me for continuing my education. But I promise, more volume once everything gets settled down!

I did played 1.5 hours tonight since I finally had down time. One hand in particular stuck out to me. I opened ATdd UTG, one player calls. Flop is 962 with one diamond. On me first, I decide to cbet. Getting high cards to fold ins't a bad thing here. I can also double barrel on diamonds, T, and A to get 33, 44, 55, maybe 77 and 88 to fold if they're stubborn. He calls, and the turn is a 6d. Bad diamond card, but stick to my plan, barrel and he folds. Why does this hand stick out?

I hadn't been playing like that for the last 2 or 3 months. I sort of haphazardly did, but that would have been a flop I might have said "****, he isn't folding anything" and just checked back. To be able to have that hand was great. Other than that, I played alright. Big hand was losing AKhh to KQo AIOTF Q44 with two hearts. Guy cold called in BB against my 3bet along with 3 other players and jammed $21 into $29. I have to call, and lose the flip. Unless the part place calls saying they have the part tomorrow, I'll play a session after work.

Totally frustrating session. Nothing could go right at all. I even faced a cold 4bet in the BB with AA and lost to AKs after the SB called my cold 5bet jam. The brain dead zombies won today. That's ok, because they're so stupid that I'll win their money some other time. Just not tonight. Wasn't my night at all.

Kind of new. But 9 years newer is much appreciated . Still some work to be done with it IE the mirror not being on yet, etc. But it looks so much better than my old car and can go from 0-60 with a lot more ease.

So I pretty much have a 4-day weekend! My aim is to play a decent amount of poker. I didn't get any during the week because...drumrolll......

I turned 25 this week.

So I spent Monday and Tuesday after work just enjoying it, worked really late on Wednesday and such. But the good part about all of this is that I'm having fun at work and I'm not utterly miserable. With that being said, let's at least get a 20-25 hour month in, because as I said to a friend earlier, I do feel really lazy and really bad not having the time to get any poker in. Good luck everyone!

I didn't die, and I didn't forget about this thread! It's taken a lot longer than I thought it would for me to get comfortable with my new work schedule. At the beginning it was wearing me out. It had been so bad at points that I would sometimes forget to eat lunch or use the bathroom during the day.

The few times I did get a chance to play, I was playing hour sessions 2 times a week. At 25nl, because I was too exhausted to play. It didn't help that the car I bought got hit and run on while parked in a parking lot and it took about 2 weeks to get that taken care of. Slowly but surely during the last 3 or so weeks though I haven't been as exhausted and I've found a nice little groove.

So I'm going to be back to update this somewhat regularly. Not every day, and not every session. Maybe like twice a week. I did feel like my game kind of deteriorated a little bit during the last 2 1/2 months. So I downloaded a **** ton of videos, going to watch through them series by series, and I've also stepped down to 25nl even though I've got 36 buy ins for 50nl. This is to just work on my game. It's not as good as it was in March so I want to get that level back at a stake that I'm more than comfortably rolled for.

So good luck everyone. Let's keep this ship rolling. My BR after the session I played is $1,788.96

Talk about frustrating.

Twice during the week I brought a hot beverage to the computer to fire Bovada up....nope! Apparently in order to play I would have had to change my DNS or something? Didn't feel like doing something I didn't know what the consequences would be, plus figured fish wouldn't to do it.

Just finished my first straight 2 hour session since late April! Felt good to get it in, but got a bit distracted towards the end. I'm hoping I can do a bit more of that in the future. I've only played 3 sessions since my last post, all at 25nl, up +$74.46. Not bad. My game has gotten closer to where it was before I kind of switched the auto pilot on.

In other news, I also received a significant raise at work. Close to the +$5k/year mark. So I really am a whole lot closer to moving out than I ever was. I will post some hands and stuff maybe tomorrow when I'm doing a thorough review of my last 3 sessions.
