Re: From micros to midstakes in 2012

both hands u posted kind of suck. i really feel like folding both but folding trips sucks and fish do overplay random crap a lot. i think J8 is more of a fold than T9 simply because in the J8 hand there s less in terms of big overplayable hands and lots and lots of better jacks there that he will play like that cuz 'weeee i haz nutz i shovez' but i really doubt even an aggro fish will play 99 or sth else like that. it could be a draw but still its really meh. in the 9T hand i think a call is fine cuz he does play random aces like that but sometimes has a straight o better ten. both seem meh though. given that u posted them i assume u lost them both?

money of dem truths hud been said in dis poast.

Yeah i lost them both, villains had J9 and AA, i thought about folding both in game and i think in retrospect that J8 is a snap fold and the T9.. meh i think its a fold cuz scared fish dont play top pairs like this.. they tend to call shove rather then shove themselves... Thanks for the feedback btw!!!

Re: From micros to midstakes in 2012

About those 2 hands...

The J8 one is pretty marginal, and I doubt id fold if he has shown any aggression in multuway pots without it, but the overbet on the turn makes his range basically nut jacks, boats, and some Qhigh ish FDs that would love to get A/K high FDs out as well some some 99 stuff you might have floated. That said there are only a few combos of that and T9/65c and way more J9+ combos.

The T9 is a snap fold. You can almost clearly see the thought process of a fish like this. Crushed the deck, he wont call without an A, there arent many, he might try to bluff that T, I check. OK he bets, prob bluffing, dont wanna raise, I call. Same thing as the flop on the turn. River goes: OK, he prob wont bet any marginal value here and wont bluff after I c/c twice since I have QQ+ or AQ/AK, and wont call with worse. If he folds those hands some percent it doesnt matter since hes not betting them anyway, and hes not gonna bluff this river after getting c/c twice, so I might as well sove and get value from anything he wants to call with.

Re: From micros to midstakes in 2012

Ok so I was about to bitch how bad im running tho i cant complain cuz after my staker (i dont know the word for the person whos staking me but w/e, i guess im the stakee then?) told me to move up even tho i was downswinging, I bumhunted at the HU 50nl tables and all the losses i obtained in the previous days were gone in about 45mins !!!

Heres the lockdown graph:

Ill be mixing in HU throughout my 50nl journey yet 6max will still be my main game obv..
Cant wait to hit the tables, its funny that one day youre crying like bitch (not litterally ) on complete monkey tilt and the other one you cant wait to play no matter how things end up, enthusiastic like a mormon. I guess thats poker...

Anyways, you requested some hands so i picked some of them, hope theyre interesting enough to keep you guys entertained:

1) After 600k hands played, i finally folded trips (even tho it might be call ):

Ok so thats about it, I played 20k hands during the lockdown which isnt much, but im working on getting more hands in and try not to procrastinate as much as im used to so hopefully ill be able to play more everyday (again not literally).

Nice thread OP and goodluck. Enjoy reading it.

Just a question though. Why do you think hand 1 is a fold?
Without even considering ranges isnt this always a call getting 3 to 1 vs some random fish who started the hand with 41BB?

Well i dont really know tbh... But from my experience its so rare to be good there if he takes this line... And just from a card removal perspective its not easy for him to have many worse Ax combos so i guess its a flush pretty much every time he does this...
