I'll be grinding Merge and Rev, playing mostly 10nl FR I assume. I'll also be mixing in 4nl and 6max when the games die out, and moving up to 25nl if my roll rebuilds after my last withdraw and downswing. Also i'll be playing a good amount of 4nl on Lock at first because I just started playing on Rev. this week with a tiny $25 transfer and am eager to get up to 20nl+. I'd rather build it up on Rev during lockdown and spend the rest on a bigger monitor plus the sexy new Ed Miller book instead of depositing it.

Very brief history, rolls, and goals coming in the next couple posts for better spacing. Sorry but no screen names, I'll be talking a lot of strategy and my thought process in here and in the future.

Sounds interesting, will be following, gl! When/if you move up to 25nl will that be your first time at those stakes?

History:

I've been grinding again on Carbon this year after a break from having my previous roll I built up with merge scraps get Quicktendered and vanish post BF. My latest $20 Deposit hit a peak of $1200 in Aug. off of 4-10nl and rakeback, but I've withdrawn the 1k by now for rent/life and lost half my $200 roll twice this month with a planned under-rolled 4 BI shot at 25nl and a -7.5(net -2.5) BI true downswing on the rebound at 10nl.

I was a rec player back during the boom but got too into grinding nuggets, Galaxies, WoW, and the strip club all hardcore. Came back to poker in the later half of 2009 taking strategy very seriously after a couple weeks of picking it up for fun again. Officially stopped depositing money that wasn't won playing poker in April 2010 thanks mostly to Ed Miller+, Sklansky's theories, and Verneer. That one was a freebie, if you're a losing player write those names down.

Thanks hopefully I put on an entertaining sweat. I've gotten in a small sample of 25nl on Merge post BF and started off ok and then got crushed for those 4 BI in 48 hours a couple weeks ago. Pre BF I played up to 100nl(before close to rdy even in 2010 tables) and was winning in 25nl.

I haven't set many specific goals yet other than just putting in a ton of volume, building the rolls, improving my game and possibly meeting similar stakes winners for a study group. Also to not blow off my winnings while forcing myself to play on thru winners tilt, which has hindered my past two recent massive grinds. I'll make some more specific targets later and at work before the full lockdown.

I'm about to play both sites 100 seat freeroll satellites into their majors, and put in some 4nl on Lock to get ready for 10nl using aggro brm(with positive expectation at this proven stake for me)

Was going to take a break from cash games to relax and refocus but i'm still in the Merge 125 seat satellite to $125k anyways in top 30% with 223 remaining. Busted out of Locks with 3x starting stack and an under flush in a half hour.

4nl Lock grind going good so far too....530 hands, +$6.60.

Busted within 15 of the bubble in $125k satellite but oh well.

Finished the Lock 4nl grind at +$6.40 thru 760 hands. Ended up playing around 18/13/2.5/2.5 while I picked up some stats on villains. I like the tables so far but it is Saturday I suppose. I also like that there is no option for tool tips to help villains read their hands.

Time for a nap, work, more sleep and then starting up the full blown lockdown.

I'm still working on magic numbers for goals that will be speculative mostly. This is just a massive and mostly non stop grind for few days just trying to make the best decisions for extended periods and build my extra micro rolls back up quick. To build poker endurance and also for the reasons in the post above.

I'll only be 4-6 tabling, mostly 4 with the size of my current laptop monitor. (Another reason to go for the new monitor sooner than later lol.) Would do up to 8 but likely 6 with no overlap.

After calculating my realistic number of hands I should prob mix in more 6max, i've been playing a tight 6max style in fr anyways. Just never mixed it in much, the tables seemed much worse reg ratio than fr on merge.

It could be better for my style and volume I suppose. Plus I have a 6m vid series from hatebicycles i've had on my waiting list.

Move up stakes when: For Merge i'll play 25nl on good tables at $200 and on my A game...For Lock i'll play 10nl at $60 and 20nl at $160 on A game/good tables.

Also I want to focus on exploiting more ranges and tendencies from reads, trusting my instinct, and slowing down to think more when I should be.

I might play the merge $15k if I wake up by 2'ish. Lockdown in estimated 6-9hrs, i'll let the brain decide but hopefully I don't miss too much of the sunday afternoon grind.

Lockdown starts now.

First 5 min break, feeling great even though down a little. No coolers will be posted itt but i've gained a little back after being caught in 2 standard at 4nl and a 10nl suckout. Flopped cooler stack offs will never bother me(atleast micro), but how we get there sometimes can be the leak. For example always raising 22 UTG in tougher games.

Lunch break, I couldn't battle the onset of tilt anymore.

Along with an embarrasing donk off taking prob a bad stand, i've continued to face more negative variance.

My red lines have stayed positive so far, that's a plus. Down 2.5bi in 4nl and 1.5bi in 10nl so far today.

Back for more now. Played 1338 hands so far in 4 hours on 6 tables avg, not including the warm up.

I keep wondering why i'm not playing 6max if i'm only 4 tabling...fr has been my b&b but now part of this challenge is mixing in shorthanded tables and getting comfy in 6max.

I won't be dropping out of 10nl on merge anytime soon, it would take 4.5 more BI's. I can always deposit more, i've just been a liferoll nit lately while working up a live $1/$2 roll.

FR tables died out, time for a study and refocus break anyways. Mistakes have been made too but i'm just in a rut of pure run bad. Down another 1.5bi in 10nl and 0.5bi in 4nl.

Found a reasonable way to 8 table playing 4 and 4 since Lock active table pop up is insane, but that was just increasing my variance and making me auto pilot too much so i'm cutting myself off from 8 tabling w/ severe overlap.

Back for some 6max or random good late night fr in an hour or so. Updated official goals and challenges coming later too.
