For the lulz! HU poker and studies

Hi guys,

my name is Michael, 21 years old and im living in germany. I started and learned poker at ps. After i read occasionally only as a guest, i decided to join this forum.

There are 2 goals, i want to reach with that kind of blog:

Studies

Im studying business information systems in the first semester and i wanna reach a good final certificate. "Good" means 1.x would be great, but definitely better than 2.5. I will update to this issue from time to time, but not in a very high frequency. I think it is really boring to read how i learn. (yeah i like the similies in this forum). But I think tracking the steps to reach that goal will motivate me and i can call regularly in mind that study > poker.

Poker

I started poker with LHE, switched to NLHE 6max and now im playing HU only.
My bankroll is slightly over 4k and so im playing nl100. When i reach 6k i`ll play nl200 until I dropped to 5k. I really hope ftp relaunched in the near future, cause that would be a bankroll boost for me. I start playing regs @nl200 when i reach 10k.

ahja, one benefit of this blog is to improve my english. I think I am in urgent need of doing this. So feel free to tell me my mistakes.

Thanks for reading!

Hi thank u! I`m pleased someone answered to my posting .

In the near future im not going to play live, cause my bankroll is a little bit low for playing NL200€. But when the bankroll grows (i hope so), i will playing live for a change and for fun, but not mainly.

Re: For the lulz! HU poker and studies

So here are my first few hands...seems to be a pretty good start.

I have just installed CamStudio for recording all my sessions and i carry out working more with Flopzilla and Co. Also i have to review my session constantly.

Allthough i focus on learning the next days. At 7th and 14th i have my exams and therefore poker is really secondary.

yap i think he was able to vb kx on the river and folding a lot of ahi floats/pp to my second barrel. My first intention to post this hand, was to show how bad i am

But when my assumptions are reasonable i think the hand is not that incredible bad. But nevertheless HU is not about winning these spots.

Aja camstudio sucks and aTubecatcher rockz at least for Win7.

As of now i learn without joining empty HU tables, cause i'm all right distracted by doing that.

Shame on me, because i´ve not kept to this. But in my defence, i write the first exame 2 days afterwards and i make good time.

So first message, i have hit the 6k and today i`ve taken a shot on NL200.

Tomorrow, i will write more about the session and i`ll give u some hands.

Now, it`s time to go to bed. gn8.

Re: For the lulz! HU poker and studies

    Yesterday`s shot was really nice.

Mainly i played a "semi" NL50 reg on Stars, who tilted his money to me and a fish on Ipoker. Of course i run good, exspecially vs the NL50 reg, but i struggled with the fish on IPoker.

First, the graph vs him with NonSD:

Look how i crash at hand 280. At this time i had to make silly folds for example 2 times i 2nd barreled my draw and he xr ai with a 60bb stack, and i had to fold.

    Or...

IPoker, $1/$2 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 2 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #11795722

      SB: $313.82 (156.9 bb)
      Hero (BB): $445.32 (222.7 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J A
SB raises to $6, Hero raises to $18, SB calls $12

      Flop: ($36) 4 J T (2 players)
Hero bets $22, SB calls $22

      Turn: ($80) 5 (2 players)
Hero bets $46, SB raises to $273.82 and is all-in, Hero folds

      Spoiler:

I think this is a really tough fold. I mean i`ve got TPTK in 3bet Pot but actually he was passive and i assume he would play his draws passively as well. Ofcourse he is a fish and he could do weird things, but ya i think this fold is fine.

I tilted a little bit vs him, for example i 2nd barreld with less EQ, although he folded anything and 2 times i snapped really really light the river. In retrospect i tilted, cause i really often missed the board. Ofcourse u win vs these guys by thin value betting..blabla, but i cant vb 8hi.

An interesting point is, that he folded to contibets flop/turn/river 21%/(61), 13%/(24) and 67%/(6).

That means 3rd barreling would be nuts, but i didn`t implement this . I think it is difficult to 3rd barrel callingstations, but next time when i have proper reads i will consider that option.

I remember that i said to myself ingame : "argh u have to squeeze more value out of this fish, he plays so worse."

I was dissatisfied with the result against this huge fish but the point is, i think my edge vs these kind of fishes are more less than i imagine. I mean i beat him with 10 ptBB in EV and that`s fine.

Shortly here are 2 hands vs the NL50 reg:

This hand was a little earlier in the match. I do not cb, cause he folds round about 65% to cb and i just wanna delay. But then he potted two times and ya it`s a tight decision imo.

Is this always the case, that i can`t edit my posts after 30 min?

Yes ofcourse, after my exames i can record a video. Do u prefer a reg at NL100 or a bum at NL200?

First i played HU besides 6max and then i switched roughly to HU 3 months before blackfriday.
After BF i was really demotivated and played poker very rarely. Maybe i played lifetime round about 60-70k hands HU? Yes that could be about right.

ok allright, but i think I´ll profit most of all .

Now guys, it`s time for a update.

Last days, i played not much...round about 4 session. One loosing, one BE and two winning sessions. I´m nearly 5k up this month with rakeback. Really enjoyable. I can recommend everyone starting a blog, u will run hot like jesus

I marked many hands in HM, but here are only some of them.

Preflop: Hero is SB with 7 7
Hero raises to $6, BB calls $4

            Flop: ($12) 8 9 6 (2 players)
BB bets $9, Hero calls $9

            Turn: ($30) 7 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $16, BB calls $16

            River: ($62) 8 (2 players)
BB bets $46.50, Hero raises to $173.40 and is all-in, BB calls $126.90

            Results: $408.80 pot ($1.00 rake)
            Final Board: 8 9 6 7 8
            BB showed 8 7 and won $407.80 ($203.40 net)
Hero mucked 7 7 and lost (-$204.40 net)

uh light value bet on the turn imo. He have to be a really station to justify the bet. xb turn would be still standard i think. Arccording to my turn-play, my river-play is fine imo.

Pity, he didn`t jam the river. But okay he has Ahi. Non SDV he would jam for sure, i think.

I still have a few random suckout hands, but probably i would bore u.

The rest of the week i wont play much, because I have to do a lot of work at the appartment. My girlfriend and me move in together and there a few things to do. And at the beginning of the next week it is already carnival
