sup guys. I am a 100/200nl 6max grinder on American sites. Mostly 200nl but I will play 100nl when the tables are better. I am starting this thread to hold myself accountable and to encourage myself and possibly others. Appreciate all input, just keep it cool. I work a full-time job and also take online classes. I play in an adult hockey league as well. So my time is limited and must be efficiently managed. Procrastination is one of my big life weaknesses. This thread will address my weaknesses and my process on completing my goals.

Annual Hours Goal: 650
Weekly Hours Goal: 13
Schedule/Process Goals:
• Get 2 hours in most weeknights
• Plan my weekend sessions ahead of time to get to my 13hr goal
• Revisit hourly goals once more data available to analyze

Hourly winrate goal: 36/hour
Annual profit goal : $23,400 (This will be revisited occasionally)

Mental Game Goals:
• Address the temptation to quit when winning and the temptation to procrastinate starting up a session. The two are likely related to the fear of 'losing back' what I have won.
• Read The Mental Game of Poker
• Read The Now Habit

Poker Career Goals:
• Move up to 400nl by end of 2015
• win a large live MTT

I will be revisiting and evaluating my goals at the end of every month. I will post updates multiple times a week including hand histories. I will refrain from posting coolers and try to keep it interesting. I have bought The Mental Game of Poker(SAFE LINK) and will read and post interesting concepts that are directly relevant to my goals and progress.

Beating 200nl for a good rate and moving up to 400nl are my ultimate poker goals for 2015. Right now I am a break even 200nl player. I think this goal to win at 400nl is definitely achievable even considering my work/life load.

Bring it on.

Played about an hour last night(thurs). Results wise I am unhappy but I feel I played well. Ended up finishing -600ish. Tonight I put in 2.5 hours and finished up 500 and change. I am contemplating another session in a bit. Read about 30 minutes of Mental Game of Poker when i was at work today.
Going to be doing some house-work tomorrow during the day but hoping to put in a solid session tomorrow night.

Decided to put in another Fri night session after taking a short break to eat and get in the zone(Kenny Rogers The Gambler and a 5 minute meditation video). I ran incredibly hot and had just the perfect situations against the fish. Finished the day up almost $1500. I am very glad I played a second session instead of just throwing on netflix or playing a videogame.

Put in a solid 4.5 hours today and about 1 hour yesterday. Tomorrow I want to get in atleast 30 minutes of Mental Game of Poker reading before I load up the tables.

Sunday I played a quick session and got reamed hard. A 55/30 fish was on god-mode and he was making the best of it. I played well despite the beating I took results-wise.

Sunday night I had a session going over some of my leaks and concerns I am having in poker. It is amazing what can be pointed out by an unbiased party. I was doing things out of the small blind and big blind that are very -EV and costing me more money than just plain folding. In my mind I had good justifications for my decisions, but I never actually followed through so it was just burning money.

I am looking forward to playing tonight. Tonight I will look through a few HH and post one or two that are interesting.
6.25/650 hours Gotta step it up. Aiming to log 45 more hours this month.

put in almost two hours last night and did well. I was actually contemplating just taking another night off but I remembered my goals and long term I'll be happier achieving my goals/making money than logging more hours playing Counter-Strike.

I have been listening and re-listening to our group session seminar with Jared Tendler. I have listened about 5 times so far, however I am not always 100% focused because I listen while I'm at work.

I dont have a full hand history from my tracker but I would like to bring up a scenario that I butchered recently.
assume 100bb for all players involved.

UTG fold ,UTG+1 fold

MP(Hero) opens 3BB with 10-10

CO (Passive Fish) calls 3BB

Button (Reg) raises to 12BB 19/14/5(3bet) type reg over 65ish hands

SB fold, BB fold

Hero calls 9BB

CO folds

Flop 6 5 2 Rainbow

Hero checks, Button(reg) bets 16BB, Hero calls 16BB

Turn 2

Hero checks, Button checks

River K

Hero checks, Button bets 33BB, Hero calls 33BB and loses to AKo.

I felt stupid after this hand a few days ago. I think preflop its a semi-obvious spot for a reg on the button to be 3betting light/squeezing, so his range there should be wider than normal imo. I feel my options are to call and play the check/call game like I did, or to just 4bet and get it in. I'm curious about my flop play.
If on a flop with low cards, would it be better to just check-raise the flop and get it in? This would help avoid tricky turns and rivers, while also getting a cbet then folding out his 3bet combinations that didn't hit. I think my river call is pretty bad in general, I don't beat much and I haven't seen him get out of line much.

I had a small time gap of maybe 2 hours between getting off work and going to my hockey game last night. I was almost 50/50 on playing a session or just chillin and playing videogames. Sure glad I manned up and got on the grind. Having a solid start to the year and looking forward to posting a graph and the end of the month.

We have similar time constraints. Squeezing in those 1 hour sessions is tough. I've had to really train myself to be mentally prepared to both start and stop. But if I don't get those "short" sessions in there is no way I'm going to hit my hour goals at the end of the month.

Anyway I commend you.

Yeah man sounds like you know how it is. It is so EASY to just shrug those time slots off and play video games or procrastinate.

got some grinding in this past weekend. Not bad considering NFL Playoffs and life stuff going on. Ran KK into AA twice on Friday night and lost both. Luckily the third time I had KK into AA (on sunday) i binked a K on the river.
Right now I'm listening to Charlie Munger -The Psychology of Human Misjudgement - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqzcCfUglws
its pretty good so far even for being dated 20 years. Going to listen to another Jared Tendler video this afternoon.

Thanks! Appreciate it.

Welp it is already past mid-January. Time flies. Got in over 5 hours last night between two sessions. I pumped myself up all week for a killer Friday session. I felt about 90% well because I am recovering from a cold but I still got my grind on. I played up to 10 tables at times when the games were really good but my average amount of tables was 5-7. Looking forward to this 3-day weekend and getting more hours in.

at 30/650 of my yearly hour goal. 30/52 for the month of January. Hoping to really make a solid dent this weekend.
profit wise im up almost 3k in January.
may the run good continue.

updating from work. short and sweet.
so far for the month I'm at 46 hours. I am 6 hours short of my monthly goal and I anticipate that I will make it by end of this week. Having a solid month and looking forward to posting my results in a few days.
I haven't read my book for a few days, so I am wanting to make time for some Jared Tendler in the next few days. I might be able to get some reading done at work.
I did a sweat last week with a nl50 player. I was impressed with what I saw.
I haven't completed all my monthly goals but I am happy with logging 46 hours this month. I feel it is more than I would normally log and I think setting goals has helped me achieve that. I am going to work harder and dedicate myself to achieving all my goals.
graphs to come!

Finished the month pretty strong with a victory of $5034.27 plus some deposit bonus money. Not too shabby. I logged a little over 56 hours for the month which I am impressed with.

I have separate databases for the two sites I play so that is why the 2 graphs and stats. Pretty satisfied with January. Rough start in February already but I'm up to the challenge.

Short and sweet update. I am getting owned in February results wise. I guess I can be thankful im only down like 1300 or so. I am playing great however and staying very focused. I put in about 4 hours last night between two sessions and I felt I played incredibly well. I lost about every scenario you can imagine and somehow booked a win. Looking forward to getting in a solid session tonight.
