I'm basically okay with getting 3bet with a small PP if I think I'm not going to get 3bet light, and effective stacks are deep. If I open to $15 in a 1/2 game and get repopped to 45 with 300 behind, I'm still getting 11:1 on the call given dead money (30 into 265+63). If you think you're getting 3bet really wide you can limp, or you can raise and then come over the top (again, needs to credibly rep strength, so if you've 4bet this session don't do it).

Went to grind pretty late last night, ended up going to the Venetian for a change and I ate at the Grand Lux with some friends before the session. I ordered a pretty expensive steak and salad, 3 out of the four from our group decided to ride the variance train of credit card roulette after the meal. Me, drawingdeadd7, and a friend. Bill looks like $80+tip? We usually don't play the traditional way, instead using a card drawing app on our phones. After a minute of arguing back and forth about who goes first, friend says "Alright!, I'll go first.." He pulls the A and me and DD7 begin to curse ourselves for not going first. DD7 goes next, drawing a 9. Hmm, well done, I'm gonna have to use all my strength on my draw to defeat him. "I want the card behind this one. Like not whatever my draw is but the one after. Is that ok?" Friend is safe so he doesn't care, DD7 tanks for a bit... says sure. I touch the screen... 8. Nice, I see DD7 shake his head in disgust from the corner of my eye, I'm still focused on the card I am about to pull, nothing else matters. I take a deep breath before I swipe... bip! The beautiful, beautiful, K. Ship it! Still undefeated in CCR since getting to LV

I was still feeling tired so I promised myself to quit around the 5 hour mark. I put my headphones in and I'm just gonna play solid this session, I fold for a round and get my first button:

HAND 26

HERO BTN $500 QT
V MP $1500

V raises to 15, 2 callers, HERO raises to 80, V calls, 2 others fold

FLOP (195): 422
check, HERO bets 125, V calls

TURN (445): 5
check, check

RIVER (445): T
check, HERO goes AI for 295, V tank calls

MHIG, table starts talking s*** about me, I paused the music in my headphones, I can hear everything. I know I got lucky.

HAND 27

HERO UTG+1 $1050 KK
V UTG $600 (kind of tight passive lady, plays a lot, I recognize her face)

V raises to 15, HERO raises to 45, folds to V, V calls

FLOP (95): QQ5
V checks, HERO checks

TURN (95): 8
V bets 65, HERO calls

RIVER (225): J
V bets 155, HERO calls

"I knew I couldn't get you off". V looks at me for a second and mucks, HERO mucks. I planned on raising a bunch of rivers but this was a nut low one.

HAND 28

HERO BTN $1100 43
V UTG $1400 (seems pretty snug this session, seen him make some light calls)

V raises to 15, folds to HERO, HERO calls

FLOP (35): J33
check, check

TURN (35): 7
V bets 45, HERO raises to 125, V calls

RIVER (285): 5
V bets 185, HERO raises to 430, V calls

HERO opens, V opens A8

Thought I could get max value from QQ+ and maybe AJ, the river lead seemed kind of like a thin value/blocker bet to me for some reason. I checked the flop back, doesn't seem like me but thats what my notes say. I was pretty quick with the notes this session since I knew it was gonna be short so I guess I have to trust that thats how I played it.

HAND 29

HERO HJ $500 KQ
V $800 LJ (V seems like a rec player that wants to play well, moved here with a buddy, age 25-29)

V raises to 20, HERO calls, the rest fold

FLOP (40): 955
V bets 25, HERO calls

TURN (90): A
check, check

RIVER (90): 7
V bets 65, HERO raises to 205, V shows his buddy next to him his hand and folds

"I laid down a good hand". I tap the table and nod my head sympathetically. (Thanks for the new lingo Aleksei! For the people that didn't know, Lowjack [LJ] is the spot right before the HJ. Or am I the only one that didn't know that?)

HAND 30

HERO BB $600 99
V UTG $2000

V raises to 20, BTN calls, HERO calls

FLOP (60): A46
V bets 35, BTN folds, HERO calls

TURN (130): Q
HERO checks, V bets 50, HERO calls

RIVER (230): 6
HERO checks, V checks

MHIG, V mucks

Pretty much went with my read on V's sizing tells. He raises to $30 minimum with hands he likes and definitely bets more post when he hits. Almost wanted to 3-bet pre for that reason but opted for my call station line.

My last significant hands were when I raised KJo and flop TP to get one street on a ugly board and when I 3-bet a loose short stack with TT and get most of it on a Q high board. Game broke and instead of drawing for a seat I called it a night. 5 hours, +527.

Been losing for a while now, -4.6 BI's (-$2306) over 8 sessions since my peak. Not much at all but its just the length of the losing that is kind of frustrating (~43 hours). Very mild compared to the worst I've experienced and I can't do anything about it, at least this gives me extra motivation to finish the month strong.

Woke up to my alarm today and its almost time to play the $300 event at PH. I hope I can make something happen. If not I'll be putting in a lot of hours in at the Bellagio. 40k for first!

I hate tournaments!

Blinds 150/300 25 ante
I have a 10k stack

I have 99 UTG+1. I raise to 1k get 5 callers, chip leader goes AI for 40k, I call, everyone folds.

Chip leader opens 44

Guess what happens next!?

BBV is that way bro ->

Haha yeah I think its pretty soft too. I'm not a tourney specialist either so I don't play these thinking I have a huge edge but when I see how others play idk, I might have a decent one.

Thanks for the GL but I didn't get any, -$171 and I'm done for today. Randomly decided I'm gonna rage at EDC!!

Took a few days off, I think I might've took the "take a break" thing a little too far haha.

Just hit and ran 1/2 for 100 bucks, now I'm sitting at PH's $100 event which is the last of my freeroll tickets. Its ~4k for 1st so I wouldn't mind a cash, I should be due soon c'mon! Lol

I'm also playing the monster stack tomorrow, sold 66% at no markup. This is going to be my first bracelet event making it my highlight tournament, I hope to make it a good one. I heard the turnout is gonna be huge and they might cap the entries so I hope I can lock up a seat soon. Super one time!

Whew.... brutal tournament. Ended up busting out in 9th place for a cool $349. It was about 11 hours of play and it was very disappointing to go out when you know all the money is at 1st and 2nd place. Its ok though, that was the furthest I ever went in a field of over 200 so I guess thats good for something.

Also just registered for the monster stack, they ended up making 3 flights for day 1 it so its gonna be a ton of entries. I'm in the third flight that starts at 7:20 PM. I've heard rumors that they are closing it after ~160 people so if you didn't register yet, hurry up! Its gonna be good!

Its 9pm and I just got seated for the 7:20pm flight. Its craaazy packed over here. There is another flight after mine too so its gonna be sick. Over 7500 entrants so far and its over 1.3M for 1st. Only bad thing is I start at level 4 so less time for super deep play.

Three hands into the tournament:

HERO CO T15000 A6
V1 UTG+1 T15000
V 2 MP T15000

V1 opens to 375, V2 calls, HERO calls

Flop: 522
V1 bets 500, V2 calls, HERO raise to 2150, both fold.

Had to do it to activate boss-mode. I hope to have a good run!

ARRGGHHHHH!

So in my last post I shared the first hand I played and saw a flop, this next one was the other hand I played for the tournament. Thats it! Two hands! The rest were just pre flop steals because I had 3 nits to my left and they were cool with handing me their chips. Sick that I couldn't keep playing on that table.

LEVEL 5, Blinds 100/200

Read: V looks like a european online player, mid 20's with a hoody and does the WSOP superstar stall for every action. One of the two most active openers on the table. Didn't really see any showdowns from him. He was the middle caller in the hand I squeezed with A6.

HERO CO 16K AA
V MP 17k

V raises to 425, HERO raises to 1200, V calls

FLOP (2600): 855
V checks, HERO bets 1500, V raises to 4000, HERO calls

TURN (10600): J
V bets 5500, HERO raises AI to 10800, V calls

RIVER (32000): 5

I open, V opens 88

I think he had me covered but I stayed in the seat. Didn't move a muscle, its not over yet. I looked at the dealer, he frowned and said "He has you covered". I bit my lip and nodded my head. I looked at the players on the table one last time and it seemed like everyone gave me a nod and tapped the table in unison. Goodbye monster stack.

Extra tilting because I really believed that I was gonna do well. I downloaded 3 tournament books on my iPad for a crash course on basic strategy a few days ago. I read it everywhere I went for the last 3 days. I cabbed it back and forth to the Rio just to register early, and cabbed it there the day of so that I would be in perfect zen and not be tilted from riding the bus. I never use the cab, I'd rather walk a few miles and be a nit. This was a big deal! I even bought an extra battery charging thing because I was gonna go so deep in the tournament that my phone was gonna die. DAMMIT! lol

I guess its true you don't appreciate something till its been missing for a while. I'm ready to get back to them cash tables!

Cooler. You weren't getting away from AA in this board vs this guy, the only question was whether you got stacked ott or on brick rivers.

June recap:

Despite going through a mini downswing towards the end of the month I finished strong on the last day with a +2350 win at Bellagio. It was the best session I had since I came up here, I ran reeeeeally good.

And yeah, I didn't get much volume in this month because I took a lot of time off to do "fun" stuff. Showed my friend around, went out a few random times, EDC took up two nights, and just chilled for a few nights. On top of that I dedicated a few days to tournaments which further took away from my cash time. I still want to play some tournaments but I think I played enough to get them out of my system. I just want to play like, 3 more.... haha.

I guess this is gonna be the last month of the WSOP madness so I have to make sure I get some good volume in, I don't expect to have any problems doing that this month.

Also finally broke my undefeated CCR record. Had an almost -$200 day where I lost 2 in a row for lunch AND dinner. The dinner flip inflicted extra pain because I bet an extra $60 that it wouldn't be me but of course I get punished. Everyone was delighted to see me lose

Things I learned this month:
-Volume is key at the low stakes, don't neglect it!
-You have to put some kind of planning to your schedule if you want to play tournaments. You will pay the price if you don't.
-Tournaments suck, unless you win
-Sometimes calling in to get on the list isn't good enough during the WSOP (esp big rooms like Aria or Bellagio). Try out the smaller rooms from time to time to beat the 70+ person waiting list. A lot of the time the games will be ridiculously soft at the less traveled rooms.
-Don't taunt the CCR gods

I'm gonna try to approach this month like my first few weeks here. Hungry to survive, a lot of volume and almost no frivolous spending. I've been getting too comfortable, I'll have time for that after I make it to where I want to be.

Grind time!

Planned on putting in a 12 hour session today, but it looks like my boy DD7 is chip leader in the Little One for One Drop!! 27 left and its 600k+ for first, would be an epic bink! Mandatory sweat so I'll leave Bellagio if he hits FT.
