Big losing day. -1854€
Back to 100 I suppose. But you know what they say, champions stand up one more time...
It's still a gigantic downer though
-945€ 400nl, -864€ 200nl, 100nl around breakeven. So that's what it's like running worst at your highest stakes. Shots can end up either way. July was +7k month, now it's the other side.
I do have to follow BRM though, the moment you start to feel like gambling you're heading wrong way. No need to emo or anything, take the losses like a man, move down, deal with it.

I had a big headache while grinding, now it feels like I have slight fever. I hope this stupid flu ends soon, it has been killing my productivity.
I still grinded 390€ rake, nearly 2.5x my daily goal.

Let the hands speak for themselves.

Spoiler:
h1: Should be self-explanatory, just need some 4b bluffs, occasional AK/AQ jam. I tank called pre, no idea why he then jams like that. AA I would not jam, so that should be less value combos.

I think same hands apply to the cold caller, maybe give him T8 + 86 which I beat + the caller has sets and maybe 2p.

I relapsed

WTF is going on with results?

400nl => +300€
200nl => -4060€
100nl => +1270€

Running really bad at 200nl it seems... After RB I'm down <1k € so it's not that bad.

I reviewed stats and most of them were fine. Even better than I expected. I'm still nitty OTR which I know.
BTN FT3B is high but winrate looks very good regardless. Nothing seems out of line.... Even the red line (my nemesis) has improved a bit.
On July (big winning month) I ran 6 BI above EV and had 18.85bb/100 blue line.
This month I'm running 12 BI above EV, and I have 14.9bb/100 blue line. Do I really run that bad?????
I have to review the biggest pots, everything else looks fine.
What can I say... Do your best and get your ass handed to you. Man I poker...
Best thing is that I can't even blame it on anything. Maybe those big pots. Small pots seem fine.
Anyways this is just more motivation to start working harder.

So basically in order to this be profitable he needs to have many weak Qx like QT, Q9, Q8? What makes you think that he is that loose postflop?

ok, but what about his other hands in his range, can't he have also QJs, 9Ts, all sets, maybe even QQ?
Also if he folds to a big bet on turn, isn't he also folding to big bet on river?

Why call when he shoves? What you beat?

=> Fish are very sticky post-flop and have trouble folding top pairs. They call down light especially if draws miss. FD + straight draws missed + PERFECT runout to jam TPTK.
Fish also have trouble understanding multiway situations and relative position. They don't know that with one player left to act on the river, they should play tighter. I wouldn't be surprised if he snap calls TPNK.

78 hand:
Why are you betting turn vs 2 people?

=> It's an advanced play. Q is an overcard. I have equity + fold equity. With PFR checking I suspect him to check/fold very often. Then I would only have to worry about the BB. If the BB folds enough, my bet should be +EV. With big bet I represent a strong range.

ok, but what about his other hands in his range, can't he have also QJs, 9Ts, all sets, maybe even QQ?

=> Given that he called the BB, I still think that he can have many weaker hands relative to the strong hands. His strongest hands are exactly what you mentioned. My range is not capped. Like I said, equity + fold equity, a bet can never be bad.

Also if he folds to a big bet on turn, isn't he also folding to big bet on river?

Why call when he shoves? What you beat?

=> It's close between folding or calling the shove, but in-game I didn't have time to calculate the exact odds. Difference between my equity and pot odds is like -5% at best, like -3% maybe vs his entire range.
There ya go!

Hmm.. So you categorize this player as "a fish" just because he has high VPIP and low PFR (which I agree, do indicate he somewhat a weak player).
BUT, as one good coach said, just because a player is bad at one aspect of game doesn't automatically mean he is bad other spots too.

And, it seems to me, that you are assuming exactly this. You are making 2 relatively big assumptions:
  1. He has wide range from blinds (Q9, Q8) OOP vs UTG open
  2. And he is calling down quite wide (TPWK)

My point is this: you assume he is bad preflop (which is fine you have data for that), but you don't have anything that would indicate that he is very bad postflop also.

So in your shoes I would be happy getting 2 streets of value for now (since I don't see many worse hands calling river), and if I see he has weak Qx then I will take that in account and bet next time for value OTR.

And if I would bet OTR I would size it to 1/3 or something to get value from some AJ, KJ, QT.

Fish with 400bb stack starts to get self-destructive and make loose calls.
Simple fish logic is: draws missed, he's bluffing, can't fold TP. I can have so many bluffs there. 2 OESD missed + FD. Fish function exactly on the level which I described. They are fun players with simple logic.
FWIW QJ563 texture = not a lot of strong hands they can have given the action. I would be more worried about the regular having a strong hand than the fish. The fish also had 2 options to check/raise, but obviously he still slowplayed.

2nd question, assuming he fastplays 2p/set OTF, he has 31 nut combos OTT.
We can EASILY come up with a lot of weak combos. Weak Qx, 8x, weak Jx. It's really all about the positions. I rep very strong range with my bet + he is getting bad price + no implied since he is 50bb deep effective.

Back in business!

I took many days off. September productivity was not as great as I hoped. I had a really bad flu that took like 4 weeks to fade away. That was a hit for the productivity. There were some excuses though. I simply ran into motivation problems. That's fixed now, my mind is back at grinding and making money. Past week I've had an upswing which put me on a better mood. I once again believe that I can win at this game. It was disappointing how I grinded a ton at the start of the month and then results were bad.

I have high hopes for October. I will clear the remaining first deposit bonus + do bank job promo = 5300€ rake.
The sooner that's done, the better
I will probably post less hands too. "What's done is done"
It only matters how well you perform in-game.

Confidence issues are pretty huge too. Definitely did not enjoy the 34k breakeven stretch, although it's probably an "industry standard".
Need to work on overall confidence. Playing against fish (requires **** loads of confidence ) and gaining confidence vs regs (bluff catching + bluffing). Keep the train rolling so to speak. I can't just hero call on best days and nit up on worst days.
I probably wouldn't have confidence issues at 50-100 since you can win at a steady rate with relatively easy competition. 200+ is tough, both strategically and money wise. Esp. if you can't just bumhunt. Need to lower table selection standards and that increases variance. Multitabling also makes it worse, but masstabling might have higher hourly. I don't have the bankroll yet to 6-table 400nl, but I do enjoy playing fewer tables. Always end up with too many tables on lower stakes
Winning is certainly addictive. It's sad that in poker you can get large doses in short time, and then go on without winning for a long time.
More detailed report about results incoming soon.

Cheers Panda!

I don't think I made any big mistakes today, but ran poorly in medium sized pots, and also vs fish. Losing pots vs fish is like an investment though, it should pay itself back
Games were really good, could have kept going but I'm too tired.

Partypoker is implementing some changes to protect recreationals, so I'm going to cash out my VIP points. I need to grind palladium status (1k $ rake) + also grind Betfair bonuses.
That means I really have to push productivity. Can expect many +8h days. Just gotta keep playing that solid game.

Another decent day. Ran a lot below EV.
Made a lot of bluff catches vs fish which seemed to fail. Regardless played fine. Trying to not think of results, in the end they don't really matter.
Have been able to play big volume even though it's very demanding. 10 tables + table selecting is not easy. I think it's all about getting in the zone.
When starting sessions you are still in a short term mindset. Play for like 20min and you have transferred into the zone!

Definitely need to keep up this pace, just telling myself to "Do it, do it, do it!" every day. Skipping volume is not tolerated. In the end it would be all about laziness!!!

Very interesting talk!
Basically he argues that the society is programmed to obey the master, whether that's the school system, your mom, your boss or even your girlfriend. And there is always a "HAVE TO"-effect. Having freedom and being independent is exactly the opposite of this. That's the life of a poker pro
The second thing he argues is that: once you find your "WHY?" you never "HAVE TO" do things again. Question arises to me: "Why am I grinding 8 hours a day instead of playing video games?"
No one is forcing me to grind, I don't "HAVE TO". But my "WHY?" is stronger.
My "WHY?" is basically that I want to get rich at a young age. Being rich allows a lot of freedom. When you are rich, you don't have to go to work. You get to choose what work you want to do. I don't want to live paycheck to paycheck. I think that is my "WHY?".
I'm nowhere near being rich, that's why I grind so much. Being hungry to climb the ladder really is my why! Perhaps that's why goals are so important.

I am very grateful that I have this online poker opportunity. My life would certainly be very different, maybe I would be obeying the masters instead of having this freedom.

Might write more thoughts on this, now it's time to start grinding!

Decent day. Patience finally paid off in the end.
On 1st session I had tilt issues but did nothing stupid.
Ran really well. No big mistakes apart from some standard coolers.
Played some 400nl too, but I'll stick to 100/200, following the "slow start"-method.

This is 4th day in a row in which I play big volume. Starting to feel like I keep coming up with excuses to not play. High volume seems doable, as long as the games are good.

Losing day.... ran worst at 200£, highest stake. I reviewed hands and didn't find huge mistakes. Maybe I autopiloted the small pots, but that's not unusual. Blue line is really bad and that explains the losses. Was just one of those days where other people ran well and it was their turn to raise the rivers.

Tilted badly during second session, but just kept going until my tilt vanished. Hit the zone and played well for some time.
Tilt was not even related to monetary reasons, I didn't feel well and that got me tilted. When you are not feeling well it just feels like playing bingo, so many tables and quick decisions to make. My rule of thumb is that if you can't keep up with the games and you are timing out, quit immediately.
I also have this theory that most of our tilting happens before we have entered the zone. How many times have you tilted mid-session?? Compared to the times you started a session, ran poorly and then the tilt escalated?
Anyways I'm happy that I put in the hours. Work efficiency is improving, same with time usage. Few more days like these and I have cleared the bonus.

Hey Fishman. Loving the thread. Especially last few posts. I love these sort of esoteric talks keep em coming. Ill jump into the discussion right away.

Also, really appreciate you sharing all information you are. Im playing nl100-200 currently, with the smaller shot on 500 when the fields are great.

So its cool to read what you have to say as i see you as abit further than i am.

Best of luck man. In life and on the tables. You deserve it because of your hard work.

Cheers. Poker is all common sense so I don't mind sharing information (hands). It's all about execution, the knowledge is out there
GL for you too!

Ran poorly, got semi-tilted and ended up with small losses. Nothing dramatic but need to be cautious about tilting. It can escalate REALLY quickly.
Will be grinding long hours today regardless how I'm running.

Keeping up the pace! Spent time very well today.
iPoker was dead during the morning, so played at Pokerstars instead. If I can keep up a crazy grinding pace, I might go for Supernova this year. Think I'll postpone it to next year though.
Made many mistakes, seemed to be a common theme today. Could have saved some money definitely. My mistakes are still minor compared to how some fish play.

Today is no exception to the rule. Already put in decent hours.

I'm really starting to hit the confidence trap. Things work out well for a while, but then you get more and more **** thrown in your face. It's like military, you feel like you want to rest, but you are not allowed to, they just keep pushing you.
I make few mistakes that start to haunt me throughout the session.
There's always that demon at the back of your head questioning whether you are even a profitable player.
You think that you are not calling enough rivers. You start to call more and then realize you have to call less. LOL?
Playing vs fish is the biggest confidence trap. PSB is either nuts or air, feels great when you bluff catch, but feels bad if you were wrong, and it would have been "obvious" that this fish isn't bluffing.

Combine this all with 10 tables and you have a living hell
Perhaps I should reduce to 8. I'm making few mistakes when running 10-12. Not realizing what the action was and not enough time to figure out very small details.
Masstabling is all about confidence. Basic question is that how long do we have to wait for rungood? There's no Jesus Christ to tell you your EV winrate, it's all up to you to figure out lol. So you just have to keep doing the right things and not doubt yourself. My strategy may even be optimal, maybe I just have a big breakeven stretch, who knows. I know some of my leaks though, they are quite obvious. I just don't seem to be a "small ball reg", my winnings are very blue line oriented. Would have to start implementing more advanced lines and that's not easy. When massing it's better to not go for super advanced lines, keep it simple.

Had to luckbox this one. Vs fish who bets PSB as bluff and value, he also fastplays a lot. Not sure on my play... He has FT3B 10% so he can have a very wide range.
I rely on him bluffing straight draws, did not realize in game there's no flush draw.
Definitely not a fun spot, I guess I need to CREV this.

Going to play less tables today or take a break. Feeling a little exhausted.

Few R bluffs from yesterday. Bluffing is my weak spot, need to get better at it

Semi day-off.
Started to implement some aggressive lines again. Something old, something new. Connecting the dots...
Anyways it was a winning day, grateful for it. Tomorrow's the weekend! Probably pushing myself to the maximum. 330€ left on the first deposit bonus. Could set a goal to clear this (1650€ rake) over the weekend. I don't really know if I wanna masstable. 8-tabled today which felt great, put some more thought into my game.

Grinded like crazy once again.
Had to follow the money and played most volume at Pokerstars. Games were rather simple, maybe all the aggro regs were sleeping.
I have to stay resistant and not look at results. I might even be up for the day, but rly don't want to know. No need to look at results and dwell in misery. EMBRACE THE SUCK!!!!! Tomorrow is another day and we keep grinding better!

First session was fine. Second session I started losing some coolers and eventually just tilted. I haven't had severe tilt in a long time. Quit very quickly afterwards.
Could have saved some money by making more tights folds. On the positive side of things, made some nice river bluffs, and played well vs fish.

Some big hands

h1: too curious to fold vs regfish

h3: prob got what I deserved for betting the flop (was barrelling many turns)
basic definition of fish is that they play too many hands out of position and thus end up doing all sorts of random stuff. once again too curious to fold, it would prob be the solid play. board is very drawy though. I guess it's high variance spot

Slept couple of hours, but then woke up to a phone call.
Couldn't get back to sleep, so I decided to grind the Friday games. Very good decision, games were really good.
Unfortunately I had a ton of coolers and lost -1.1k € before RB. But I'm 100% happy with how I played. Just have to redeposit and keep grinding. There is no way we can alter the course of rungood, patience is a golden skill as a grinder

Looking at the previous session I played, I don't agree with all of those hands, made too many unnecessary calls. I lost my patience, maybe... Would appreciate any feedback on those hands.

Tomorrow is no exception to the rule. With 40k hands played and 4k € rake paid already, there is no stopping now!!!

I don't grind 200nl+, but my thoughts are...

1) Fold flop for sure.

2) I'm betting flop, plenty of stuff to get value from. Betting turn too since we're often going to try and rep the Q there. As played we're obviously going to stack off.

3) Think we can just flip a coin here. Don't think I find a fold in game either, although since we should check a lot of Qx here, we probably should be folding since this is probably not so high in our betting range.

4) I think I'll fold this, calling JJ and QQ.

5) Looks fine.

6) Looks fine, although I think you should have KQ and QJs in your range really, so this isn't the 'top' of it. Nevertheless you've got a bunch of other stuff you're folding here, so call JJ.

7) Checking back the flop and definitely snap folding to the checkraise.

8) I'd shove river all day.

9) Think we can fold river on that card, we should have a bunch of Qx we take this line with, plus some weaker Ax.
