Wow, what a terrible week this one turned out to be, right now I feel sick to my stomach and hate this game so much, I'm not very used to losing and handling it sure ain't easy Volume was ok ish with 20 hours played, down ~1300 something bucks. Idk what to say really, last few thousand hands I just couldn't win a big pot and got coolered left and right by top of villains range or outdrawn, standard downswing stuff. I just gotta keep working on my game and not let the downswing get into my decisions at the table, there's nothing you can do about it aside from playing your best. Probably gonna take a few days break now tho, and hopefully come back strong over the weekend.

Downswing continued for another 5k hands at the start of this week, before I'm finally starting to win again, feels good. Jumped down to NL25 zoom for some hands to regain confidence, played much more LAGgy there, probably mostly because the stakes feel so low after playing NL50 and NL100 for quite some time, but I also want to try and LAG up my game a bit, it's much more fun getting into more spots etc. Hopefully I can finish this month off with a winning week, would be nice. I'm not jumping around sites that often, and have settled for stars as my main site this year hoping to reach supernova. But i just deposited some of my roll to 888poker tho, trying to get into some soft games to build up my bankroll a bit again, because I'm down around $2k from peak this year, so that's why I've moved down from shot taking NL100, to rebuilding confidence at NL25 because downswing continued at NL50. Ive been playing NL50 and NL100 on 888 tho, down about $250 from my deposit earlier this month but things are starting to look better now, hopefully I am able to stop the downswing soon.

May 2013

So, May is over and my worst poker month ever is a fact. Really disappointed with the results this month, but what can you do. Although it doesn't look like it I think my game has gotten much better this month, so hopefully gonna have some good results coming in soon as well. I'm happy with my volume this month, especially considering that I've always struggled to put in the hours when running bad/losing.

Nice comeback interested on your thoughts on the a2 of diamonds hand.
Not sure about float on that texture as we have little equity unless turn is a diamond and villain can barrel a lot of turns with draws and made hands so not sure he check gives up enough for this to be profitable.
Then on turn his barreling range gets stronger Again as he can't expect you to be folding a ton on this card plus you have some RIO when the board pairs. Also when you do miss and he checks a lot of the time he may check call a lot with pairs or weak kx so hard to know if you can profitably bluff. Once you do hit on the river I think your sizing should either be smaller so he calls with all his marginal hands or I prefer just shoving as his range is mainly bluffcatching at this point and you can then be more balanced by shoving missed draws and your value hands.

Yeah that A2s was a very interesting hand to play.

My thoughts on it:
First of all, villain is a 2+2 reg who has a thread in PG&C, and seems very competent from what ive seen, altho i think he is a bit too tight passive, at least from the hands and stats i have on him. He is 8 tabling zoom, 50&100. Pre is a standard defend since we're deep and IP. Flop float is also fairly standard imo, as I can rep a lot of hands on later streets if villain shows weakness, as well as the 1/4 times we improve our equity w a diamond ott.

Turn is where it gets interesting and highly debatable. When villain bets again his value range should be very weighted towards aces and Kx. I think he can have AK/KQ and maybe KJ/KT some percent of the time, plus some random bluffs. So my options are either fold or call I think, I don't wanna raise and stack off w A hi FD since its a board I would be slow playing all my big hands. Since we have over a pot size bet left otr if I call turn, I decided to call, although I would prefer to be even deeper so I could have the opportunity to really put some pressure on him when we miss river. My plan was to jam all spades when checked to, and maybe bluff jam over a small bet from him which I think he could be doing w Kx a fairly bit, but cant really bet/call river if i have the chance to make it big enough. That gives us almost half the deck in outs I am betting river when checked to, and if my thoughts are correct, we are winning with.

Once I get there otr and he checks, I am fairly sure he has a value hand that is going for a check/call line. That leaves us with the bet sizing decision otr, and I thought quite some time about jamming, but since it would be an over bet, plus the fact that I view this player is a solid tight dude that probably can make some hero folds, I decided to go for the normal bet sizing of 2/3 pot. Thinking back at it tho, I think I prefer a jam, but I remember at the time I was thinking that an overbet would look so strong compared to a normal sized bet, but I guess I look strong either way. Fwiw he tanked for quite some time before making the call.

Decided to switch it up and play some plo tonight, I don't know if I'm just bad at it but it seems like every time I play plo I run bad at it, tonight I went 10 buyins under EV in 1150 hands before finally making something back, finished down 6,5 buyins at PLO25. I'm obv not good at plo, but sucks that I always run bad when wanting to play and learn that game. Oh well. I find it a very interesting game tho, so probably gon play a bit more in the coming days/weeks again and see if I can make a profit.

Last couple of days have been quite swingy, decided to take another NL200 shot at some good tables this weekend, and ended up a buyin there. Other then that I've played some more PLO25, really find it a very interesting game and I highly want to succeed at it so def gonna play some more in the coming time. The rake is a bit of a concern, but I'm not confident to play higher yet. We'll see, if I can be a slight winner while learning this game I think I should be very happy about it.

Just finished up a pretty bad PLO session of 3,5k hands, just one of those sessions when nothing went right and I was down about 12 buyins at the worst. Managed to climb back and finish down 6 buyins tho, running a couple buyins under EV also.

Signed up for 6 months at CardRunners the other day, so gonna watch some PLO (and NLHE) vidoes in the coming time, watching coaching vids always has the effect on me that I wanna play some poker afterwards, which is good. Any recommendations on series that I should watch there is welcome!

Just finished playing the Zoom 1 million gtd on Stars, came top 400 and won $400, happy enough about that and think I played it pretty well, with a bit more luck could have gone deeper but thats how tournies work right

Gonna try and play a bit NLHE cash again in the coming week, have only played 30k hands or something this month which isn't exactly what I was aiming for. So probably gonna give PLO a little rest and focus on NLHE.

Have decided to quit the PLO dream for now, I think the rake at micro PLO is so high that it's "unbeatable", at least for a beginner unless u run real hot which unfortunately I haven't. So have decided to keep my focus 100% at NLHE in the coming months, and maybe take up on PLO again if Stars decides to do something about the rake structure, fingers crossed for that!

Yeah agreed, I'm working on those parts of my game as well, especially triple barreling which I'm not very experienced with, so looking forward to start working hard in July!

Going to try and write down a list of my leaks in the coming days to see what I need to improve on, I know there are lots of mental stuff i really need improvement on, like auto piloting, acting too fast, playing too long sessions, playing too many tables and generally not thinking actively enough, just clicking the first button that comes to mind.

Poker spots I think I need to improve are barreling, 3bet pots, bluff raising more flops, opening more from cut off, defending more of my blinds.

So June is over, turned out to be a mess Just going to post graph and forget about it, hopefully gonna work and play a ton more in July and have some good results, feeling very motivated again after my weeks off from NLHE!

Also lost some in the beginning of July, think I'm down 500 or something at cashgames this month. Month/year isn't exactly going as planned, atm I just feel tilted and tired of this game

Running 107-105 in the HU sngs for a -4,34 roi, running somewhat bad at them lately but could def play better aswell. I find myself autopiloting quite some bit.

Cashgames I'm down $750 this month too, tried putting in another session tonight but the cards aren't falling my way at all, combine playing bad and running bad and it's really hard to win.. Don't know what I am going to do right now, thinking about self excluding myself until I'm back from vacation in mid august, would prob be the best right now to be honest. I might just relax and grind the HU SNG's whenever I feel like it and leave cashgames for a while tho, if I'm not gonna self exclude that's prob my best option EV wise.
