Is it a good idea to just min raise one raiser when your in SB or BB with a monster?

Imfromsweden, just wanted to say that I have been dropping by and lurking in this thread since I've found it and have found it to be really quite interesting and unique.


As someone who has been around 2+2 for 4 yrs or so this thread just really stands out as different. You're thought process, creativeness, and uniqueness is what gives you the ability to think outside the box and do what so many others on this site, kind of dream of yet cannot wrap or open up their minds to.


I am someone who strives to be a professional poker player, yet I do no desire the high-stakes (nosebleed) online cash games that you aspire( are destined) to achieve.


Anyways I am not sure what I want to ask or how to ask it so not sure if you can be of any help, but I am guessing that you can at least elaborate/feel out what I'm looking for.

In the HU example you provided of the reg that you suggest plays up to 10k. Could you try to explain a little more clearly villains thought process, as you obv feel you are inside his head, completely owning his soul, (which I have no reason to believe that you are not.)

Then maybe just for Game Theory sake go just 1 level deeper as it is becoming more likely that you are known as you are becoming a 2+2 celebrity rather quickly. SMILE you're on camera.

He's thinking: Almost all 400nl regs 3bet with AK pre, and don't check/raise with any Kings really, so his range has extremely much air, compared to the amount of value hands (which is 55/66 and 56s, really). And even if he has a value hand, he'll check if a club comes, and then I can profitably bluff/shove. So I will definitly call with my bottom pair.

I'm thinking: Surely this guy is good enough to realize that my value-check/raising range is very narrow. Therefore, if I check/raise here with KJ he will call me down light. I also want to make the sizing small, so that he thinks I'm just trying to buy the pot cheap.

He's thinking: If he in fact was check/raising with Kx, he wouldn't barrel that turn. It looks like a scary card, and he should be afraid of not getting called by worse if he bets. On the other side, he barrels this card with his air 100% of the time. My hand is too weak to just call though, so I'll put in a small raise.

I'm thinking: If I check, my hand will be face-up as Kx, since he expects me to barrel this ace 100% of the time. I will therefore barrel the ace, and take the consequences.

Obv I just call when he 3bets, as I don't want to fold out his air.

He's thinking: Great, that's an awsome card to bluff, and he also checks to me. I don't have showdown value, and this bluff only needs to work ~35% of the time.

I'm thinking: If he for some reason actually has an ace, he will definitly bet if I check, so it's not like I lose value from any hands if I check. On the other hand, he can't bluff if I shove, so I do lose value if I bet. Conclusion: I should check, and snap off his river shove.

Excellent! I love to see players with awesome goals, reading your thought process shows that u are VERY smart and analytical, GL and keep on that grind and you will eventually meet your goal. I'm just a 5nl grinder, but threads like this and others in past have inspired me to make my own goals, inspirational stuff like this turned my roll from $38 to $500 plus in just 3 months and only 175k hands (lame volume) now my volume goal is 160k hands per month (not every 3 months) and an even higher winrate, dont think i could reach nosebleeds this year haha.. but current goal is 50NL by end of year, sry i ramble a bit when i'm excited awsome thread so far and hats off to you sir.
