Exclamation Hyper HU - moving up in stakes

Hello

I started one thread here and never updated it, it's kind of shame, hopefully this one will go much better.

I used to playing cash games up to 400NL, but for last few months I was playing 100NL. I kind of burn out on cash games, lost my passion for game. Becasue of this my volume was super bad and I didn't put much time into improving. That's way I had to move down in stakes and ~ break even last few months.

In June I read Xereles PG&C thread and decided to try out games that he was playing. I really loved them from the first game and after few days decided to switch completly from cash games to hyper turbo HU SNG.

It's been only a month but I'm very happy that I made this change. Once again I want to put my whole heart into playing and learning poker, I feel like ~5 years ago when I played my first hand of poker and could spend 10hr/day on this game.

I started out by reading Mers e-book and watching free vids on HUSNG. Than I got Chadders Vid pack. Right now I'm beeing coached by Coffeeyay and I feel that I'm improving every day.

Also I have few people that I can discuss hands with so that's really helpfull.

My goals for July are:
- play 2000 games [1150 so far]
- study at least 2hrs every day
- work with 'Mental game of poker'

Volume isn't impressive but I put a lot of hours into studying this month. In August I will be shooting for 5k games.

Right now I finished my 3 years of university and I have an option to suspend my education and play poker full time.

August will be a kind of test for me If I can play a lot, stay in positive mindset, follow daily routines I probably will switch to full time poker player.

For longer time goals:
- 115k VPP this year (16k now) - with FPPs that I have now it would give me 3x 1600$ bonus.
- move up to 200s - If I would be able to play 200s than I can go for SNE in 2013, I don't think that it's doable for me on lower stakes
- keep improving - I know that it isn't measurable goal so it kind of sucks but I can measure how much hours I put in study every month

Right now I'm playing 60s and I'm on a heater, let's hope bad side of variance isn't coming anytime soon :P An arrow on the graph shows when I started coachings and moved up to 60s.

I'm not sure but I think HEM 2 shows accurate EV, can anyone confirm ?

PS: Sorry for mistakes. English isn't my native language.

Following a similar plan myself, but still at the 30s. Love Coffeeyay's videos and mindset in general, so i think youve got a great coach. How many tables are you playing?

GL on the grind, post some interesting hands if you get a chance.

Re: Hyper HU - moving up in stakes

Thanks guys, Picasso I will post some hands later. I played 1 table 95%+ of the time. Now I'm going to 2 table more.

Real Madrid I read a lot about swings in this games in other PG&C threads and on HU SNG forum. I'm aware of them and I want to think that I'm prepared for them but you never know how you handle it until it happens. I'm used to swings from cash games, however variance in hypers can be much much bigger.

That's why I'm working with 'Mental game of poker' book now when I'm running good so I'm prepared for worse days.

Finished up 2h~ conversation with 2 poker buddys. We reviewed few of my tournaments, done a lot calculations and stuff. Now it's grinding time

Volume isn't great but it's ok, I took a break after this loosing streak. I feel I played OK, I will review my game tomorrow. This loosing streak started when fish suck out few times so that's ok, but than EV dropped down - I will have to check if I messed something up. Didn't tilt but maybe played my B-game in few tournaments.

One more thing that I will have to review are my adjustments to fish which I played for about 10-15 tournaments. Adjusting to aggro / loose fish who takes a lot of lines with (what seems) random hands is pretty difficult for me sometimes.

Didn't see any of this in a long time.

    Poker Stars, $58.74 Buy-in (10/20 blinds) No Limit Hold'em Tournament, 2 Players

    Hero (SB): 500 (25 bb)
    BB: 500 (25 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with K Q
Hero raises to 40, BB calls 20

    Flop: (80) 9 J T (2 players)
BB bets 20, Hero raises to 60, BB calls 40

    Turn: (200) 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets 100, BB calls 100

BB checks, Hero bets 300 and is all-in, BB folds

    Results: 400 pot

    Hero mucked K Q and won 400 (200 net)
BB mucked and lost (-200 net)

I think that I misplayed this hand a little bit. It seemed that he donkbets with pretty strong hands (he min donkbet 2 pair once) so I think I should raise to 80-90 and bet bigger on turn to get max value.

Hey man, good luck with that. I'm on the same route, digesting the ebook, husng and chadders' vids, so anything you learn from Coffee and would like to point out is appreciated. Unfortunately, my roll is smaller so I have to build from bottom up, but I hope to meet you at the tables in the future.

Thanks guys, nice to see people wishing me good luck

Melkien we went trough pre flop range IP and OOP on various stack depths and some most important adjustements. You need to play pretty loose from both position, keep a lot of pressure on your opponents. Remember that a lot of plays don't need to be huge +EV , it's enough when they are better than folding. If you can play a hand IP where your expectation is -0.4bb/ hand it's still better than folding which is -0.5bb/hand.

Weird thing with HEM 2. It seems that EV is accurate but after some time. Those are 2 grapsh from same day. Frist (that I posted before) was saved right after the session and second on the next day.

I play (and used to a lot more) the HUPLO hypers, taking few shots at the 76's? on FT pre BF. They're madness, but the action is all a man want.

    GL OP, following you

I would not trust the ev graph in hm2 for hu hypers, the graph changes on a day to day basis, at least in my case. Also under the session tab it shows chip Ev and i have had days where the session tab says 2k chips under ev but my graph shows 8 buyins over ev.
im not certain if the ev calculated under the session tab is correct but the numbers ussualy seems realistic in my case.

vdjens, PLO hypers have to be super crazy but on PS they seem dead. I looked at 60s and 100s and there is 0 running, 0 completed and lobby is empty.

Happyz, I had other graph every other day in June but after instaling some new version it started working better but still can't trust it 100%.

I was on absolute godmode in the first part, played really well and run even better that felt great

Than I strated loosing pretty much every all-in but can't complain. Still over EV and up over 10 buy-ins. Very good day overall I didn't tilt or do anything stupid when loosing, actualy I felt that I played really good but just to make sure I will review those games right now.

Re: Hyper HU - moving up in stakes

OK time for first week summary.

Graph shows volume and results. I'm obviously very happy with results, EV is great and I'm running above it

Volume is pretty bad, but I'm not very concerned with it. I'm putting a lot of hours into studying.

I had 2 coaching sessions this week with Coffeeyay and few sessions with friends when we discussed hands.

Let's set some goals for next weak.

    1. 600 games - I really need to get used to 2 tabling. I think that it isn't hard and will improve $/h.

    2. 20h of study - this is really important, I think that the best way to improve is to go through a lot of your games and review pretty much every spot. I will also start a document where I will save my analisys, than I will be able to just read it once a week so I don't forget stuff

    3. 3 workouts at the gym - I'm paying for membership in pretty cool gym but I was there like 3 times in last 2 months, also I gain few kilograms that I need to get rid of :P
