Wow, haven't really heard of seals of clubs yet as I've been away from us for a while. Are deposits and withdrawals both through bitcoins? Sounds very interesting as I will need some coins as well in the us.

You're like the 5th person in the last few weeks who have told me to go get a burger at Rocky's. You've convinced me, Ill put it on my goal list for the next few weeks after I get some great rides in. Probably won't help my weight goal but will provide great fuel and an incentive to work hard to earn it .

Ill have to check that out too. I think there is a breakfast place next door, but havent tried either.

Also is another restaurant that is kiddie corner to it and has $5 specials that I need to check out.

I played SWC last June and really liked it. Not sure how the games are running now, but think there is steady cash games going on.

Yes you can deposit and withdraw with BTC. Just takes a little effort to get a few coins, but not hard as there are BTC advocates in all major areas you can meet up with who will help you get it going on and are good people. Just be careful as scammers seem to be everywhere.

Got a great nights sleep. I just read some Tendler and will head to the store for supplies. lm going to watch a Twitch stream for some a brain warm-up and get my first 2.5 session of the day in.

Positive day. Got a 7.5 ride in at sunset by the beach, stunning.

Up $50 at 25NL Zone after 2.5 hours. My leaks are immense with my most pressing problem of playing a huge range and trying to steal too much. Its so easy to steal OOP that if Im not playing my A game I can be headed to wreckage. I think 25NL is beatable, but I feel like Im not really playing poker, that its more a video game. Going to drop in for another 2.5 session tonight.

I ended up buying a six pack of sativa js for 20 bucks. Thats 4.5 grams of really powerful stuff even though its lower grade Cali med. Today will have smoked two and will spread the other four out over the next four days. I break them down into smaller joints to make last longer.

I tried to go to Rockies at like 10 PM to get a burger and drink but the place was packed and rowdy so another time. Got a Chipotle salad, so frigging good.

Got my second session in of 2.5 hours and went ok at +37. I was up a lot more but ran into a ridico cooler I'll post tomorrow, kinda put me on tilt and I went for a short walk and calmed down.

Tomorrow I plan on hitting a hard 10 mile ride. That is little for many bikers but for me is a challenge. My ultimate goal is to get to 20 miles in a ride, but not gonna worry about that this month.

I get back to work for four days of 5 hour or so shifts. Im looking forward to Monday to go to Tijuana so Im looking at this week as a work week with a vacation at the end of it.

Overall very good day. If I can string a bunch of these like this together my chances for success are much better.

Had a rough night of sleep, tossing and turning. Up early with a huge list of to do. I hope to knock a lot of it off by noon including my 10 mile ride so I can take a few hour nap before work.

I woke up to a message from a teacher recruiter service in Taiwan that I talked a lot with a few years ago. They gave me an offer to teach in a Taiwanese public elementary school starting February 25th. It pays around $2,300 and a $300 housing stipend. I think there would be like a 16% national tax on that but it gets refunded if you stay 6 months or more, there is no US tax at all.

My reaction to teaching 30+ kids from age 5 - 11 is pretty much, **** THAT! Id rather be broke, lol. But its good to know as these types of jobs will be available in August if I go busto. I could probably start looking in July. This would be desperation as I'd rather find a job at an international school but those take a little more work to get.

I went over my bills and it looks something like this.

1275 - Rent (lease over in Sept.)
400 - Health insurance
400 - Groceries
100 - Cable/Internet
200 - Food out to eat
300 - Weed
70 - Phone
35 - Car insurance
25 - Water
200 - Misc.
100 - Gas

This is like 3055 a month. I probably need to add 300 - 500 for travel. Since I have like 1500 coming in, I run a 2K monthly deficit. Im not looking for poker to plug that hole, I don't need that stress, I guess Im an official rec that will try to play 15 a week and study to get better. I can access money to pay for my deficit I'd say until Sept. and then I need the hole plugged and hope a lot more to party and travel at will .

Got in a lot this morning. Cleaned, laundry and some admin stuff for biz.

The most important was a 10 mile ride from PB to OB. Ill post the pics later. I was huffing hard, but happy to say I think I got my miles for the first week in. Ill do a weekly total on Sunday.

I like to think when Im the bike about poker and stuff so its a great multitask tool.

I had a hand yesterday that sent me into tilt and I spewed off 7 BI total on two tables within a few minutes. I like playing with a deep stack live, but seems Im having trouble in the Zone with it.

$100 effective, 55 OTB, I raised pre with two callers. Flop 5 7 7. I play slow and get put all in by turn. Villian has 7 3 and you know what comes on the river, a 3.

I then melt down and spew $75 on other table. Was still up on the session, but was surprised I tilt monkey so much. I also went on life tilt for ten minutes today when I couldnt find my camera power cord. I will use my phone until I can pick one up.

Going to jump in jacuzzi then read before I go to work at 5. No time for nap as I need 2 - 3 hours, I cant do little ones of like an hour.

Have you considered teaching at private academies outside of schools for English? These pay pretty well at least where I'm from (Seoul Korea) compared to teaching at schools and some jobs for teaching Toefl and Sats pay super well imo. I think these jobs can be found in Taiwan and China as well as Asian parents tend to invest tons on private educations due to stiff competition. Wouldn't be annoying as teaching in schools as well.

The living cost seems pretty high. Do you reside in pacific beach? How would you compare that to la jolla in terms of lifestyle and environment?

Thanks, Grinding + Getting Fit + Crushing Biz from Awesome San Diego

I taught at international schools for 6 years which are basically the best private academies in any given country. The pay was great, plus free everything, but I just lost the passion and its not fair to the kids, parents, teachers and admin. My last school in Taiwan I made 45K 100% tax free, plus incredible apartment and other expenses and I was miserable. I believe my future is with my own business and after 5 years of plugging away I think I'm within 8 weeks of hitting a huge benchmark. If it tanks I can say I gave it my best and move on, will know soon enough .

I could probably cut down on my costs, but just want to enjoy myself. La Jolla is a lot different from PB as it has the university, hella rich people and UTC which is a whole world in its self. Im not sure what the rents are like in La Jolla but Im sure its around the same. Im over paying a little bit, but I do have luxury around me so its nice, but for sure will down grade on the rent in Sept. when my lease is up.

Are you not American?
You keep saying tax free. Maybe you just mean you don't pay taxes to the government of the country you are working in abroad.

Americans get a 100% federal tax exemption when living abroad on the first 90K or so. You need to be abroad for a certain amount of days (something like 330) to qualify.

I never made that much so never paid a dime of federal taxes for 6 years, but always filed. Each state is different and people may be on the hook for state taxes.

Yeah I agree its total insanity, but its a very good plan that I got in June under Obama Care when I moved back to the States. In October I had to use it and the bill was over 10k and it covered 95% of it so I got my value for a couple years.

Was exhausted at work last night and had no desire to be there, but made it through and crashed early and got a great nights sleep. Debating on a long walk or a bike in an hour, then a 3 hour session with a post game nap and then off to work.

We are looking for a 2b apartment and rent seems to be around 2000 area in both regions. Not really familiar with San Diego yet so we might go hang around for a week or so until coming up with a decision. Someone recommended Oceanside as well telling me oceans game can be real juicy. Have you grinded some live poker thee yet?

2K will do you well in this area for two people. I think there is a jump around 1600 and you could probably get a dope 1 BR or a nice 2BR in La Jolla for that. You for sure want to come look around for a week or more to find the right location and its a pain as the people who rent are bad communicators, but maybe good over in La Jolla.

I played Oceans like around 2002 - 2005. Its a great room.

So easy for a rec. Like $30 bucks and twenty minutes. A form and like three questions from the doctor .

Another great day. I got a 4 mile walk in the morning and a profitable third day in a row at +35. Once again a big swing down after starting strong, I may have to put a stop win in place as its possible to get +250 very quickly two tabling Zone 25.

I played way more tight, but still not a nitbag like a lot of the players seem to be.

Going to read for an hour and then go to work. Have a better attitude today about work and just need to stay focused for the next two and a half days before my Mexican vacation on Monday .

Kinda lazy day but got in 3 mile walk and 3 hours on the table at -67. Played decent and didn't tilt so happy about the process.

Im a week into my goals and looking like Im on track.

February Goals
{27} 120 miles on my bike (try 4 rides a week)
{11} 50 miles walking fast (I like to decompress from tilt and process info by walking by beach)
{on track } 7 pounds lost (from 230 to 223)
{16} 60 hours poker (both online and live count)
{4} 4 hours a week off-table work (videos, 2p2 strat, discussion, would consider coaching)
{Soon} 2 trips (Mexico, LA, or Vegas most likely)

Im going to Tijuana on Monday and maybe down to Rosarito for a day or two. I won't be playing much poker this week, but will be exercising so lll be ok.

Lots of drama at my work and glad Im not involved, but when one of the managers is there it seems like the whole place gets depressed as she can be a tyrant, but Im totally on her good side, so I just smile and work my ass off when there and when I clock out I forgot that I have a job.

Sounds good! Thanks for the info. Very excited to move soon. Would it be the best to reach out to a local real estate broker? We will be bringing decent amount of cash but will be unemployed as we are just moving from abroad and was wondering if that would give me some issues in the area for renting a place.
Thanks,

If you can do a short term lease or something I'd recommend taking a month to see the different neighborhoods of SD. I've lived in Mission Valley, PB, College area and now East County. They're all different and have their good qualities along with their not so great qualities.

Oceans is great and by far my favorite room.

I've heard getting a rec is pretty easy like fish said. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Thanks,
Hey 87, when I moved to San Diego after living abroad without a job it was very difficult for me to get a place. I found a place that would rent if I showed something like 6 months rent in the bank. I just got a family member to cosigner as it was easier as part of my cash is from backers.

If you have good credit and stacks of cash Im sure its not a problem.

Id do what Bluff suggested and give it a month to find a place. SD is so diverse you really need to feel out what you're looking for. Also it takes time to look at places and make the deal. San Diego has a huge transient population (when you meet a person most likely they are from elsewhere) and I think at this point the landlords have the advantage in the market.

Tragedy!

A little bit after I woke up I was checking my email and got a really positive mail about a biz deal and I got excited when typing my response and the next thing I know my monitor screen comes disconnected from its base and smashes into my bong. It went flying cracking spilling bong water all over the monitor, desk, chair, mouse and mouse pad. I didnt clean the bong in like 5 days, it was sooooo gross. I think I leaned forward on the desk putting to much pressure on it.

Good thing the bong was cheap and they have the same one for sale for like 13 bucks with the slide

Today is a rest day. No exercise or poker, just a 6 hour shift soon and then vacation starts.
