My Situation:

Hey wassup guys. My name is Jesse. I’m 26 and living in the most northeastern state of the US, Maine. I have 4 kids, 2 step children and 2 of my own. Love to watch the NFL, big fan of NE. I’m currently working in a retail shop, working for sh*t money, and been here a year and a half. I’m tired of it and I’m ready to start making some real money and giving my children what I could never have.

I have dont a couple other challenges here that were not completed. But I'm here to stay on this one!

My poker story:

I’ve been playing NLHE for about 10 years now. Online for about 8, since I was 18. Up until this year I’ve been a losing player, and now I’m just break even. I’ve read a few books, binked a couple tourneys, but not as much success as i would like. Which leads me to my next paragraph.

Why I wanted to join BPC:

I’ve had the same dream a lot of people have/had, a proffession that only few can survive, a career of playing NLHE. I want to be able to support my family, live comftorably, and give my kids what they deserve. I have partnered up with BPC to help me make this dream a reality.

To help me succeed I will be following these rules. AKA The 10 Commandments.

1.) SHUT UP

2.) LISTEN

3.) DO AND DON’T ASK

4.) ASK ONLY AFTER DOING

5.) DON’T OVERTHINK

6.) ALWAYS BE PREPARED

7.) SET GOALS

8.) CHAMPIONS STAND UP ONE MORE TIME THAN THE REST

9.) RESPECT OTHER’S TIME

10.) CRUSH!!!

I have multiple graphs I can post in a little while before BPC. Since ive joined i havent been playing much, only like 1k hands. Mostly just studying, trying to follow the NOBS lines, and trying to get out of my old habits from other books. Ill post the graphs here in a little while.

My current BR is about $60, and playing 2NL on ACR and soon to be true poker once i get my funds transferred. My ultimate goal is $60k, and continue on from there!

I will be updating here probably a few times a week, so stay tuned!

Hey guys, just a small update. I have got a little volume in but before I get onto recent things, ill show you pre BPC results.

only like 50k hands because I was using/re-using the trial .
now here’s a small amount of hands from mon-fri.

and here’s Saturdays results. I had to do 2 separate graphs because I had finally transferred my funds to the account I’m using for BPC.

Not bad at all considering the volume. I’m going to try to get as much volume in as possible, but I’m still trying to adapt to the NOBS lines/ranges. As of right now I think the max amount of tables I can do is 6. That just give me the time to ensure that I’m doing everything correctly. But hopefully these results will continue!

So its been going really good so far! Tonight wasn't really much but I made a small profit. Here's Novembers graph so far!

really liking the results though! So far I'm beating 2nl at 20.5bb/100 and almost 24bb/100 if you count rb
Really want to get more volume in though. tonight was rough because I had a couple suckouts. So I gave up kind of early. But other than that I've had to leave tables because I was effective stack with over 170bb's, which than only left me 2 - 4 tables to play at. (I only play reg 6m tables, not ss or cap tables).

Also I think a few regs has figured out my river play. They make a low ass bet on the river, like 1/3 pot, so if I have like TPGK than I kind of have to call, and end up losing to TPTK. just will have to adjust to it.

Sorry for the long wait! didn't realize it's been almost 2 weeks. anyways since my last post it's really been up and down. wasn't really able to hit the board, and when I did V was at the top of his range, or I couldn't get any value whatsoever. Today I finally was able to hit the board, get some value, and come out with a really big win overall. really needed it because my confidence was pretty much ****.

any ways here's a graph since the 8th.

Hopefully on the ride back up to 5nl.

Ive been slacking on the updating I promise from here on out ill be updating.

So, to start ill mention that I decided to be a ****** one day and lost a bit of money. Was playing ****ty, tilted, and just was on the wrong side of varience. mostly the first 2 but there was a little varicnce involved too. anyways lost $25 that day, then lost a few more dollars another day.

Decided I'm changing the way I'm going to play. WPN is just so reg infested so I'm really going to table select, and play the fish. I guess for a moment there thats my main source of income! Anyways, BR is at $70 now. I'm going to be getting less volume in because i dont want to play the regs.

Also some more good news. I've decided to start playing on Bovada as well. So far I've ran up $1.50 to $54. Eventually once i get enough money to withdraw from WPN I'll do that and add it to my Bovada account and play on there. But i also wont do that until i buy the bovada card catcher hud thing.

Tonight is halloween, and i may take some pictures and post them. My step son is dressed as a freaky clown kind of thing, and is riding around town on his motorized scooter. It's pretty funny.

I will post a graph or 2 later when i get home. at work right now.

So been a short time since I've updated. I haven't played all that much in the last week and a half. I had a job site that had to be done by a certain date, and the clients just kept wanting more and more done. Fortunately I got that done, and they also want some more work done as well. So I've kind of been working 3 jobs it feels like. I also just received 45 catering jobs for next summer. So next summer will be extremely busy.

Anyways, for what I have played I've been putting most of my volume/time into bovada. It's just so easy there. I have to get the card catcher so I can start recording my progress and be able to look back on hands. I've come to realize that bovada is like 10x's easier than wpn, and plan on putting what time I can into there. I think once I can withdraw from wpn ill move that money to a softer site other than bovada, because you can only play on 4 sites there. Think I'll probably move it to betonline. I don't know ill keep an eye out on what sites are softer. My results on wpn have just been up and down. The site is quite tough for 2nl, and just completely reg infested. Well anyways, here's where my BR's sit at now.

been a good few days. A lot of my profit is coming from bovada, and I'm starting to really like the site. Kind of sucks that you cant have a history of stats on people, but you honestly don't really even need a HUD at the micros there. I did end up buying the card catcher so that I could record hands and my progress. I'm just shocked at what these guys call you down with.. Really sucks you can only 4 table there though . Also since I've been putting in most of my time on bovada, and really concentrating on getting value with my hands, I haven't had a losing day on WPN either, although I haven't put much time there. anyways here's where my BR's are at!

Here's a little more about myself. There's a couple things I enjoy doing.

first one is this. how many of you figured it out at first glimpse?

Well if any of you guessed distilling, that's right. The meter read almost 190 proof. The most I've gotten is about 196 proof, and you cant really get any higher than that. I've been doing it for about 2 years now, and its been quite the journey, and it's been really fun. Saves a lot of money too!

2nd thing I do when the opportunity crosses my path, is my wife and I rescue dogs. In the past couple years we've rescued a few dogs from abandoned houses, or just bad situations. We foster them for a short time and find them a decent home to live in. Here's Roscoe. Our most recent rescue.

He's 9 months old and a very good puppy. He was abandoned when his owner went to prison. Left behind in a **** hole of a house, to roll around in his own **** and piss. He was left there for a couple weeks, and someone had told us about him. So we went a scooped him up. We found him a home with one of our friends. They have kids, a farm, and another dog so he gets plenty attention an plays with the farm animals.

Anyways back on track to poker.

That's been this month so far. Ive noticed that the card catcher is missing the first 1 or 2 hands whenever you sit down, sometimes 3 hands. So it's been kind of inaccurate because the last couple days there's been 4 instances where I've stacked people on the first hands, so I know I'm at least $15 short on the graph. I switch tables A LOT, so makes me wonder how much it's actually missing. It's been kind of an off week, been up and down, and haven't played much. but still making progress. I transferred my funds from WPN to another site, and it's pretty fishy there. Unfortunately I've lost money on there and haven't played that much at all. But here's my BR.

Bovada: $190

Intertops: $40

How's it going guys? Been going okish here. Been making a profit but the last week has been up and down. Just been on the wrong side a variance, but making a small profit. Trying to get more volume in but it's hard to when I'm playing on 2 sites, one of which has very low traffic, and the other I can only play 4 tables. But they are really soft sites. Month of November was pretty good. Here's a graph. All the hands aren't there because I was using the trial for the hand catcher, than bought it a week or so later after it expired. So here's Novembers graph.

December is getting there. running a little under ev, tilted a little today and got a little spewy so I'm taking a break until later tonight. I also have a bunch of points I can turn in for tourney tickets which I think ill do this sunday.

Here's Decembers graph so far.

I also got a new job this week. I start Monday. Which give me a little more time to play. My work hours now will be 7-330 4ish which I think is a lot better then 10am - 6pm. Anyways going to grab some grub and do some chores.

GL everyone and run good!

Hey guys, been a little while. It's been a good month so far, and well on my way onto that $60k

I'm into 10nl now and continuing to make a profit. Unfortunately I haven't had much freedom to put the time in that I want to. One of my goals this month is to get 100 hours in. Halfway through the month and only have 43 hours . Going to work on that and hopefully make my goal.

I also received a referral bonus that got directly deposited into my account. That put me ahead and well into nl10. My first attempt at nl10 didn't go so well. was running under EV and the cards were not coming my way. Fortunately things turned around and am beating it at 10bb/100. nl5 was at 14bb/100. hoping maybe I can sustain my 10bb/100 and maybe a little more if I can. it seems almost just as easy. Sucks only being able to play 4 tables though.

Anyways here's this months graph.

Been a while since an update.

Never realized I didn't do a recap of nl5. I only did 16k hands there, and was able to successfully move up. Here's a graph and some of my stats from my journey through nl5.

As you can see, the only position I was losing from was EP, which Is kind of weird. Also I hardly ever 3b, just because there wasnt too many people at my tables that would fold to a 3b, so there was really no reason to 3b bluff. Anyways, with that small sample I was beating nl5 at 14.44bb/100.

Some big changes in the last months or so.

For one, a few days ago I was laid off from work. He decided he didn't need the extra help. I don't know if he lost a couple jobs, or some bids didn't go the way planned, but just decided he didn't need me anymore. So, I will have a lot more time to join the coaching sessions, play more, and study more.

I'm well into nl10 now, and things are going great. I need to play 30k more hands and ill be able to move up to intermediate, and start learning to play some real poker. The month of December was great, and I ended up 3rd on the profit leaderboards. Was hoping that for this month I might have the chance to be at the top.

Here's Decembers graph.

There's actually $30 or $40 missing from the graph from playing zone. Decided I was going to play a few hand of zone and struck gold. I only played like 100 hands. Don't like the idea of not having a HUD.

The beginning of this month was quite horrible. First 2 days I ended up 10 BI's down, and just was running horribly. I finally was able to crawl back out of that downswing though. Here's nl10 so far.

Beating nl10 at about 9bb/100.

Just a quick update for this month. I went through a horrid downswing. First 2 days of the month I was down about 12 BI's. From there it went up to just over break even, then just plummeted. I feel like the beginning of it was a lot of bad beats, and just being sucked out, things like that, then after losing more I think my play started to get worse.

After losing about ~12 BI's at 10nl and just feeling wrecked, I decided to drop down to 5nl, just to rebuild some confidence, and re evaluate my play. Still have the BR for 10nl, so I'm still in good shape. Playing at 5nl, I lost another 8 BI's. Being absolutely just enraged, I didn't play for a day, and didn't put that much time on the tables up until the last couple days. Instead I really took the time to do some studying. I watched a bunch of videos, reviewed a ton of hands, and really just tried for find out where I was losing money, and fix it ASAP.

Fortunately I was able to plug a bunch of leaks, and get back on my game. Still down ~$90 for the month, but that's a better then where I was at!

Also the Bovada card catcher was messed up for a couple weeks, due to Bovada being updated. So my graph isn't entirely accurate. But it'll give you an idea of how bad I was running and playing. surprisingly my SD was still positive for the month.. I don't know if that has anything to do with running bad, but here is the ugly thing.

Like I said, the graph isn't entirely correct, and I'm about 9 BI's from 0!

A couple of goals I have for this week, as well as continue to do these.

1.) Be more active in the forums, post more hands, and reply to more hands. I think this will help me as a player, and make better plays myself.

2.) Update my blog more often. I haven't really been doing that, and I want to keep up with it.

I'm back up to 10nl and playing there now. So my 3rd goal is to get 23k more hands at 10nl, and get into intermediate.

hey wassup guys. Been a while since I've updated. Since January 31st I've made a lot of progress. Recently I've made some big goals for my family and I this year.

My biggest goal for this year, is to move outside the country. We're thinking Thailand.

Second of which is kind of obvious, is to make a sustainable living off of poker.

If everything goes well I'm hoping by September/October we can make the big move. As of right now I need to concentrate on grinding up my bankroll, and get into some stakes that is possible to live off of.

Anyways, The month of February was really good. Ended up getting through 10nl, into 25nl, and I'm also in the intermediate level of cfp. I just started 25nl a few days ago, and it's going really well. I'm almost thinking it's easier and fishier than 10nl. I haven't played there enough yet to really think that's possible, but it's really starting to seem that way. A new pet peeve of mine also came along in the last month. ****ing short stackers piss me off.

Here's my 10nl results.

not what I had hoped for, but I got through it.

This is feb. results. Which consists of 10nl and a little 20nl towards the end.

not much volume. I'll be getting a lot more considering I'm now committed to 40 hours a week.

This is march so far

At the beginning of the month I lost about 5 BI's at 20nl, and then started with 10nl, and bounced right back and + some. Just before 4,363 where it peaks, I started at 25nl and never looked back. I also picked up another instant $100 bonus yesterday too.

Really excited to be in intermediate now. Finally able to really learn some more useful, and important things, and able to play with some real money. Cant wait to see what comes in the future!

Hey man nice thread.

Can't say I agree with #3 and #4, asking questions rather than blindly following instructions is the only way to really understand things and achieve tangible progress...having said that you definitely seem to have improved though so nice work

I'm interested in your potential move to Thailand, do you know people already out there who can hook you up with work etc? It's a big step but one that I'm sure you won't regret.

Go Pats!

We just became a foster home for dogs last month. We have one right now we just rescued from a drug addict.. Seems to be the trend.

We've been looking into Thailand big time, and I think that's the place to go. It's extremely laid back and the cost of living is definitely affordable. I think if I were single i'd be there now, just because you can live there for like $25 a day. That's rent included.

I'd have to say that the thing with the rules isn't bad. There's a reason for it and the answer eventually comes to you naturally after doing it. The coach really believes in figuring things out yourself, and that's just what he does. He says to do something, I don't know why but I do it, and the answer eventually comes.

The move to Thailand I think is definitely happening. I don't know anyone there, and my job will be playing poker online. The goal is to get us out there by the end of October at the latest. By that time I'm hoping my contract will be completed with BPC and making more then enough money to live off. The ol' lady wasn't so sure about it before, but after seeing the results in the last month, and the results of what 40 hours a week can be, she supports me 100% and can see that I can do this. There's a couple other places in the talk as well, but Thailand is 1st on our list.
