I'm currently close to on pace for meeting my monthly volume goal which is a good thing. I have not been grinding too hard, but I've been putting in mini sessions everyday that I have the chance. Now with University starting up for another semester, I hope that I will continue to have enough time. To be honest, I'd rather get more than 2k games volume wise, but 2k is the minimum I have set for myself.

I am happy with how I have adjusted and things are going well. At the minute, I only use SharkyStrator and no hud or tracking software. It will only be beneficial for me to use those resources, so I will definitely look into them in the near future. As for the regs at 15s, most have left me alone, but one still sits me constantly. His screen name is: Haaaaaaaaaaay! or something along those lines and he has put in ~80k games in 3 months. I doubt he even sees my chat, but he runs like god against me. Kind of glad that I don't have tracking software to see how bad it is haha. If he does not stop playing me, I just hope that variance evens out.

Made the decision to pull the plug on my sports capping. In essence, I was -5u which is not a big deal, but it was too time consuming. I do not like the way I approached it as I was making too many picks, but that's the way she goes. I do still think that I could be successful at it, but right now with school starting up and my transition to Stars, I have a lot going on. I decided to focus on what I enjoy more and am better at, which is poker. I hope to play some MTT sessions as well, but it is hard to do when I am using SharkyStrator 2 tabling. Maybe I should just have a couple MTTs up in the background. Anyways, more time for poker and school which is good!

I didn't play very much this weekend, but I did manage to put in a bit of volume. Everything is going decently I guess. I already miss sports betting, but I know that it is better if I do not concentrate on that for the present time as I have other priorities. I am enjoying myself playing poker and would love to try playing live for the first time. Unfortunately, the only live action I could get into would be a 1/2 game at the casino. The min buy in is 50 and the max buy in is 200, so I was thinking if I buy in for my first time, I would probably buy in for 100 and see how it goes. I think the experience itself would be good enough. Maybe this weekend I'll give it a go!

Anyways, here's a hand that is basically the nut worst spot on river and I have not really needed much insight on my play, but this hand warrants some analysis. I think I played it fine, I was definitely tempted to call river, but I mean basically everything he is calling with is either already there or gets there except for like two pair and bluffs. I think his value range supersedes his bluffing range here.

Pretty tough day today as I finally decided to put in a bigger grind than usual and it did not go well. I put in roughly ~100 games and it's still relatively early. I was planning on playing more, but it went so badly that I might just stop for the day. Basically, just variance and could not win a flip, 60-40, 80-20 even. Just one of those days. I think I lost between 12-16BI, not really sure. The most annoying part is that a few regs still sit me and have played lots of volume with me but since they run so well against me, there's no reason for them to stop. Very frustrating.

Last night, I ended up going to the casino for the first time to play live poker. Since it was my first time ever, I bought in for 100 in a 1/2 game and it was short handed, I think there were 6 or 7 of us. I thought I would be nervous, but basically, every decision was basically programmed in my head and I didn't even realize I was playing with money. The second hand I was involved with I bluffed like half pot on a K river and villain moaned and folded. I was sitting calmly without any indications of my holdings, but I did feel my pulse in my neck going crazy. In hindsight, it wasn't really because I didn't want to lose, it was more so that I did not want the embarrassment of being caught bluffing live lol. I got into the groove and made some adjustments and basically played a tighter style game, making the best of the right moments. With my Hyper background, it was definitely frustrating folding A7o type hands on the button due to utg raisers making it like 3.5x. I had a couple of noteworthy hands that I will do my best to explain.

I was in the SB and I look down at 88. EP had straddled so it was 4 to call and there was one other caller from MP. So I flatted from the SB with 88. The BB popped it to 20. Now the original EP straddler folded and the MP flatter called. Honestly, I was just so unsure what to do, I just folded. Part of me wanted to over jam or something, but that would be suicidal imo. Is this fold just standard?

This next hand I do not think I played too well, but I think it was decent. I was in the SB again and looked down at 3c3s. By the time action got to me, it was a limped pot so I obviously peeled. Now there were 6 of us I believe seeing the flop. Flop comes out 3h5h8c. Bink. Do not remember action exactly, but by the time it got to me, there had been a bet of 7 and a minraise to 14, so it was 14 to call and 3 others had called. Now I was thinking that I should definitely pop it to like 55 or something since this board was rather connected and people had shown interest. Instead, I flatted the 14 and we saw the turn. Turn comes 8 pairing the board, giving me a boat. Here I definitely think I made a mistake not leading as I checked and it checked through including the minraiser. River was a 4h completing all the draws. I led out 35 into the pot since there were 3 to act behind me. One guy moaned and folded, another called and said "here's a donation" and then another guy called. I showed boat and they showed straight and flush and I took it down.

I ended up cashing out for 245 after tipping the dealers 5-6$ throughout the hour and a half. There were other pots and hands that I won and did well in, but not really noteworthy, more just standard value bets.

Sorry about my poor summary, first time playing live and first time writing down and remembering live hands.

Apart from my live adventure last night, I have been grinding 15s exclusively. I am happy with my play so far, but I do need to work on some certain spots, that's for sure. At least I have pinpointed the spots where I need to improve. I tried watching some Hyper Videos on HUSNG's youtube channel, but honestly, I did not find the videos very useful. Some of the plays I did not agree with, but everyone has their own style. With that said, I have always just analyzed my own play and talked with friends about it and that has been good enough for me. Only one reg continues to sit me endlessly. The others will sit me maybe once and then won't sit me again. I will show his graph vs me and you will be able to see the upswing he had vs me. I think I am better than him, but I don't even think it's very profitable for us to play. He is currently up a bit on me, but it's nothing and I won't be surprised if we get to 200 games by month's end, all from him sitting me.

Here's Hay's graph from his point of view vs me. I hope he stops playing me, but he hasn't responded once in chat and he's annoying to play over and over. I was very frustrated playing him at one point because he ran like god. He still runs pretty well vs me, but obviously since I still do not have a tracker, I cannot show EV. I feel like EV would be depressing anyways.

Oh ya, I also hit Gold Star today on PokerStars, so that was nice and I will wait until Platinum Star to start cashing in FPPs.

I might end up going back to the casino to play 1/2 again this weekend since I enjoyed myself last night. Who knows

Hey man, good luck with your goals this year. I am trying to learn HUSNGs, reading Will Tipton's books and dabbling at $1.50s, so I'll bite on this one.

Is it typical at $15s to bet halfpot on F and T with a set on such a wet board? I would be tempted to bet closer to 80% pot since you are most likely ahead on both streets. Or are you trying to get value from drawing hands knowing that the 4th card to a straight or heart is not very likely on the R? Just curious on your line of thinking.

In hindsight, I definitely should have bet around 50 on flop, 120 on turn. Once he called flop, definitely think I need to be bombing turn for 70-80%

Just got home from my second live session at the casino. Unfortunately, this one did not go as well as the first one as I ended up -50$ before calling it quits. Overall, I am still up live and am gaining experience and having a good time so it's all good. No notable hands except that I was card dead for a while and then as soon as I had hands, I didn't get any value which is sad. That's the way she goes. Looking forward to next trip!

Just got back from casino and played another live session. Need input on this hand that I posted in live Low-stakes forum.

Hey guys so this is my first live poker post so forgive me if I make any hand posting mistakes. I just played my 3rd live session and I am not sure what kind of player I am, but I would lean towards TAG. My first trip I was +145, second I was -50. I am a HU Hyper grinder on Stars at 15s with moderate success. Here's the hand:

EP Villain (~150): young white male, just sat down
BB Villain (~250): older white male, has squeezed a bunch with AQo type hands, hasn't been out of line
SB Hero (~215): young tanned male, has not been out of line/seen much action

EP Villain opens to 12, folds to Hero in SB who looks down at QcQh. Now, in this spot, I think about 3betting, but am a little trigger shy and unsure of EP Villain's open sizing as it is very strong. Hero flats the 12. BB Villain flats as well and we see the flop 3 ways.

      Flop (~36) Jc7c7h

Hero checks. BB Villain leads out 15. EP Villain minraises to 30. Hero flats 30. BB Villain folds.

      Turn (~81) 4c

Hero checks. EP Villain bets 55. Hero?

I would like to add my own input and tell the results, but I would much rather hear other thoughts on this particular spot as I am new to live poker.

The thread I posted with the above hand is getting a bit of feedback which is nice. I feel as though I am learning more which will definitely help improve my overall game. I appreciate all the feedback and advice I receive.

Anyways, I was thinking about going back for another live session tonight, but instead, I just grinded 15s for most of the day and played roughly 150 of them. For the last week of January, I decided not to check my results and play at least 500 hypers. I am hoping for a good result, but more importantly, I just want to focus on playing my best. I have enjoyed just grinding and not being sure whether or not I am winning money or losing money. Naturally, you sort of gauge where you're at when you start off, but eventually, you cannot remember and you are not sure. It seems to be less stressful grinding this way since it becomes strictly about volume and good decision making. I will update more with either live poker or end of month review when I check the results as January concludes.

Grinding has been going well in terms of volume and decision making which is good. On the other hand, I went to play live tonight and dropped 150. Will not be going back for a while, need to study live better etc. Basically couldn't get anything going and when I did flop a set, I stacked a rec for a measly ~40. Ended up losing it all trying to bluff a reg who made a hero call against me. I actually thought that it had a good chance of getting through. I am not sure if he had a read on me or what, but basically I had shown him a bluff prior and that may have contributed to my downfall in this spot. Anyways, going to grind 15s for rest of month and hit 2k games and then do month review.

      JANUARY OVERVIEW ♔

When looking back at the month, I am actually pretty proud of myself. The main transition I made was transferring from Full Tilt Poker to PokerStars. At first, it was a bit difficult to adapt and not know any of the player pool, but I found out pretty quickly. I was skeptical to make the move to PokerStars because I was comfortable and successful at FTP. Also, there was a lot of negativity surrounding rake changes and so on.

Anyways, I am glad I made the switch and the results are on point with the original goals I set. They are not really goals, but more of a general outline. The main concern was playing the volume as I knew if I played well, the rest would take care of itself. SharkyStrator was an instrumental part of my grind as it really is a beauty tool. It kept me playing as well as focused. I bought the mid-stake 80$ version for 6 months since I considered that I may move up in stakes within that timeline, so it was overall better value. Therefore, I did not really stumble into any MTTs, although I did play a couple and bricked in standard fashion. I also attempted to use HEM, but did not really like it and could not customize it since I'm a noob with computers. I do plan on downloading the free trial of PT4 for February though.

      ✫ 15$ Hypers ✫

At this point in time, I feel very comfortable at 15s and have been working on my game in marginal ways. Although, I'll always be working on my game. I have identified the good players, the weak players etc. The best players no longer sit me, except for a few stubborn ones. One guy named Haaaaaaaaay! non-stop sits me and never answers the chat. Apparently he puts in mad volume and mass tables. He honestly runs like god vs me. I won't get into too much detail since I do not have PT4/EV line to back it up, but basically after 200+ games he's +10BI. There are a couple times that he's won ~10 games straight vs me, which is very frustrating, but not due to being outplayed. Naturally, he has no reason not to keep sitting me since he is winning, but hopefully the tides will turn. Of course there are some other regs who still sit me, but they aren't really worth mentioning. Overall, I am happy with my 15s results this past month.

      [x] 2000 Hypers
      [x] 3.5-5% ROI

      ✫ MTTs ✫

As I mentioned, I did not really play any MTTs. I think I only played a couple and bricked in standard fashion. I hope to integrate some type of MTT grind to my schedule as I do enjoy them. The main issue is that when I have SharkyStrator running for hypers, I am so dialled in on the hypers that I do not go look which MTTs are running so I never really play them. I'll have to put in a few sessions dedicated to MTTs where I just 8 table them or something.

      ✫ Live Poker ✫

This was a completely new and unexpected experience for me. I had never really planned on going to play live at the Montreal Casino, but one night I said why not and gave it a shot. I basically played 4 sessions and ended up losing due to inexperience and questionable play. Like most things, you definitely need to practice to get a better feel and improve. For the future, I will only play on weekends so something like Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays at night time. This is because that is when the fish are out and I am not experienced enough and don't have enough of a bankroll to sit at a table infested with regulars. I will also be buying in with a full buy in of 200$ to maximize my opportunities. I do look forward to playing more and learning the game better, it just sucks that it's slow action.

      Month Results

      Profit: ~1,280.00$
      FPPs: +6,129
      Live Poker: -192.00$

I am happy with how the month went, even though I think it could have gone better. I will definitely keep working hard to improve and print more! Onto February, gl everyone.

I played a bunch of Micros mostly 2.50-4$ BI range. Ended up bricking most and getting small cashes. Not sure how many MTTs I am going to play, cash is enticing also.
