2k posts!

Here's a link to previous thread:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/17...unl-fr-992669/

challenge interrupted because of black friday. My BR is still locked in there.
was doing pretty well tbh. started with 11$ and turned them into 700ish (who does remember??) thanks to tourneys and ring games.

this is my FR graph since i started playing cash games (not counting cashes in tourneys and sit and go's and bonuses)

stats since becoming serious about the game (after starting the challenge)

i was running pretty well at 25NL, i felt like something "clicked" about my game, i also started getting coached, discussing about hands with poker buddies, switching into a laggy game, etc...then BF happened.

with my BR locked i decided to deposit 300$ on Ipoker and after a while hit a huge 17BIs downswing (mainly tilt i guess). did withdraw the 200$ dollars left and took a break. dont' ask me for graphs...it just goes up for a while and than dives nearly vertically.

i restarted in september on italian Pokerstars, from 10NL euros 6max. did hit another 12BIs downswing which i eventually recovered in the last weeks with some good running. so here is the new challenge:

switching from FR to 6max with profit, rebuilding a BR and, most of all, improving. 50NL sounds a reasonable goal

this thread serves to me to keep me motivated, as i got lazy in the last weeks about poker and to get tips from anyone who is serious about the game. life's sucks, job is stressful so i need some support. it's hard to get playing more than 5K hands a month lately, so i won't set any time term.

stats and graph from my new beggining in october (i feel dirty about september...lol) lol sample size i know

couple of interesting hands from latest session:

V is looks like a TAG. i only have 60 hands on him. cbet is 3/3.
i guess flop play is ok with two overs + bdfd given his betting freq so far.
turn play makes little sense to me but i guess he always beat me in this spot after flatting otf.

V is another fishy 23/11 taggy reg. aggro postflop. we have some aggro dynamics going as i often play back at him (his cbet is 93%, turn cbet 67% and his raisevcbet is 5/8 as well). 0/3 foldvraise when he cbets but his wtsd is low.
best flop action? Raise or call to XR turn?
also what should be my raising range otf vs. him?

limper is 81/31 huge gambling fish over 80 hands. lost his stack once already with 2ndpair on QTx board
isoraiser is 31/11 loose passive fish.

in this spot feel like keeping the limper in has more value than isolating by 3betting the isoraiser, though it is close i guess. thoughts?
otf i decide to raise for value. the limper is never folding any piece of this flop.
OR has to play straightforwardly i guess.
turn card is awful and i decide to check back and eventually give up.
river card is interesting. once it gets checked through i feel confident i have the best hand. best sizing?

              GL, will be following!

              KQ: WP

67s: It's unlikely him having a 9 (why would he donk with it?). On the other hand there are a lot of cards we don't want to see OTR and he seems strong.

QTs: Seems fine although I might have waited for a bit better drawing hand (having at least a pair or two overs or a GS besides the FD).

7Ts: I would have bet more OTF and OTT. WP IMO.

KJ: WP, I should do it more often too.

QQ: Given your read on MP the river is fine. Most of the time I would bet here smaller (half pot) to get a crying call from weaker hands.

playing well atm. basically an ABC strategy which seems to work well vs. this field. i cut a lot of my bluffing range (hence my lower 3bet% and raisecbet %).
valuebetting fishes, avoiding thin spots without reads, staying away from high variance spots (AND TILT), bluffing less and abusing regs with leaks work great so far. no need to get too fancy as most of them just cant fold hands, even though i have to admit it is hard to keep it in mind. VERY FEW PLAYERS THINK ABOUT OUR RANGE. (and when we get in tough spots where they rep thin, well they usually have it if they show strength, micro players in general are really unbalanced towards value)
simply what works vs. thinking-weak players just dont work vs. fishy ones and sacrificing some redline by having it just flat or slightly negative to get a better blue and greenline is key. ADJUSTING is key. i always thought that being a LAG at FR i should have played like 30/25 at 6max but i experienced huge swings and tilt. i still play very laggy at nitty tables but i prefer tables with fishes and now i know that i can play differently vs. different players.

so less of these (old habit):

                  couple of new hands

                  V is 35/25 50% steal lag over 70 hands.
BB is a tight passive reg.
                  pre looks standard i guess.
ott i would lead pretty much anything that has some equity once the flop goes checked.
otr i decide to bet small to target QQ-KK. his line doesn't make much sense. he basically reps TT, JT and i think my size could induce some bluffs as well.
what do u think about it?

similar spot where V doesnt rep much.
he is 17/14 nit with 36% steal, 12% WTSD over 90ish hands
again i lead with the intention of following otr. once he raises he reps only 33 i guess, while 66, KQ and fds are well in my range. i don't mind having low equity here as i think the bluff raise is outright profitable.

V is a 20/19 reg w 40% steal. massive grinder but marginal winner.
cbet 86% of the times. couple of big leaks here imo. his raising size from the BTN creating more aggressive dead money vs. another reg (i have a fairly high foldvsteal, even though it is low vs. other regs) and his cbetting freq.
pretty much the perfect board for my hand

V is a loose passive fish, reason why i am happy to open with this hand from UTG. the rest of the table is fairly tight but the button who is a LAG and the SB who is a passive fish too.

not sure whether betting turn is better than checking.
river is either a bluff raise or a fold i guess. i decide not to go crazy with it

89s: Why didn't you bet OTT?!? He can call w/ a lot of worse hands. River fold is fine.

this is a lot closer and misplayed the hand pretty badly
V is 56/2/1 over 80 hands. he played really passively so far...i did misclick otf, wanted to make it larger. should prolly bet turn. otr i don't know flushes are there, as long as QT, QJ, JJ, TT (saw him limping big hands before). i chop w AK and beat KQ, AQ,89 if he overplays them on this board. looks like a crying call

Hand 20: AA. You are getting 4.3:1 on the call. villain at best has a flush draw. probably suited connectors. Don't fold.
Hand 23: if he's an aggro fish. Why are you playing so passive when you have a strong hand?

                                                thx for the feedback
AA hand vs. such a passive guy idk tbh. i do have other hands vs. him where he couldn't fold a flush draw up to the river w a similar board, and another one where he kept on calling me down with Tx on T9xxx board (and i went for thin value w A9).
assuming he just flats with overpairs to the board his range is mainly straights, sets, 2 pairs, fds and combo draws. nitty fold, but i am not doing great vs. that range
KQ hand: i want to keep him bluffing. board is pretty dry (i block straight draws as well) and he loves spewing. i could 3bet for thin value preflop though

up 1,7 BIs today over 800ish hands.
played pretty poorly at the beggining with too many loose calls and couple of stupid double barrells. started to run hot at the end of the session.

                                                couple of interesting hands

V is a loose fish, cold caller is a nitty setminer. i guess here i could 3bet for thin value vs. the fish but his opening range isn't that wide.
i think i have to start taking the cc/donk turn line more often.

same villain. i decided not to cbet as i have very little equity when called, plus i think this villain can raise pretty often on this type of board. river raise is a bluff to make him fold anything but 8x and monsters

this is an easy fold imo. villain is a nitty reg. once i cbet mw on this board i don't think i get called too light. i decided to check turn to maybe get thin value otr from smaller pairs. once he leads he always has the nuts here. also he doesn't have worse Ax in his range. meh

so basically best month since playing 25NL on FTP. def best 6max month so far.
running 3BIs above EV helps, but most of all i feel like crushing the game when focused. i have had my fair share of bad beats and stupid mistakes (mainly bad bluffs) this month too, but knowing u can get that money back somehow makes it easier to not tilt. running good does that.

The only comment I might make is in the BvB hand against LAG with AJo I might wait until the river to bluff. You make more value and it's more realistically how you'd play a set which is basically what your repping for value here. Like you did in the next hand with A3o

Ive tossed the idea about and would love to do something similar if i had more time and think you should go for it. Have a different thread for it which we can keep track on as it will be really interesting and im pretty sure you could do it. You could do it on a bit of a profit thing basis where they use their money but if they reach a goal you set, say $500 to play NL25 then you take 10%. I think that would make it a win win situation for both of you.

I wanted to come in and comment on some recent hands, but there's nothing to say really. I agree with you almost everything. The only comment I might make is in the BvB hand against LAG with AJo I might wait until the river to bluff. You make more value and it's more realistically how you'd play a set which is basically what your repping for value here. Like you did in the next hand with A3o
very good point on the AJo hand, stacks are deep enough to be doing that. thx choice

ty. i prefer taking smaller shots as i'm still underrolled, even though i've been winning over a lol sample at 25NL already and i know it shouldn't be that different. i still tend to tilt too much and some discipline can only do good i guess

Results looking very good, keep it up.

On the HEM2 thing i trialed it a while back and didnt really like it, too glitchy and many stats missing but further down the line it may have improved although im not in any rush to purcahse it myself.
naah, pretty sure that if we coached each other we would start spewing too much. i miss your HH review though, i hope your job will start rolling.

i had a tilting 2,5K hands session today. it is painful. i managed to loose only 1 BI, but i was spewing left and right and really had no clue about what i was doing... set vs. overset, flopped flush vs. nut flush and nut flush vs. 56dd straight flush....lol. then i

i'm reading about bugs on hem2, idk. everytime u install a pokertracker it is a pain and i want to be sure it works well without going mad and having to mail the support, searching the forums, etc...i am a lazy guy i guess.

on the new challenge i did open i new thread in here but nobody seems interested atm.
i think it'd be interesting for all the 2-5NL players looking to move up.
well i guess not many newbies are on 2+2...lol. on the other note i'm not really interested in profit, i mean i thought about it but it wouldn't make it up for the hourly effort anyway.

managed to turn it into a winning day. still some tilting, redline is so negative today. up BI for the day.

                                                            OR is 20/14 kinda fishy
                                                            Villain is a 24/19 reg with 10% 3bet over 150ish hands.
i decided to cold4bet/fold my AK here. ofc i am never getting it in this deep, but having blockers i am not getting into that spot that often.
also OR can fold better hands here. Villan, instead could flat a pretty wide range being this deep (prolly TT+, AQ+).
flatting here is kinda meh, being oop with the chance to get mw. we end up xf'ing too often and even when we hit it is going to be hard to extract value.
on the other side i know i get flatted by 3bettor very often with these stacks and his likely strong range so there will be some postflop to be played.

i flop tptk on a very dry board. with this action i don't think i get paid from worse tbh but AQ. V has most likely 2-3 outs so i don't mind checking to induce lighter calls or let him value owning himself with AQ.
his sizing sucks and i don't get what he is trying to do. very surprised
