I don't know what other thread you're talking about. I'm assuming you're talking about Elements of Poker. Haven't read it myself but I really should.

Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
Thanks guys. I think lofcuk is refering to my last thread Lopping Off The C Game. I am actually worried that i am a hopeless case when it comes to tilt. I seem to have tried quite a lot of stuff and really havnt got the results that i have liked. That obviously comes down to myself and my attitude a lot of the time but i guess thats a life leak i have to try and plug.

The big thing from EoP and Tommy's vid series I got, was detachment. I thought I didn't have a tilt problem, I can play like a machine for hours, never smashing any computer equipment, never shove stupid hands etc. But as the title of your other thread says, ALL players have a C game, whatever characteristics it may take.
If you practise living in the moment, playing the hand you are in, and anticipate the beats etc. The pain can go away. It takes practise, but it is so enjoyable, when you start to get a feel for it.
I analyse a hand for a few seconds, we are all trying to learn right?, but that's it, move on, detach from it and wait for the next hand. The longer you spend logically, coldly playing your hand the less time and energy there is to think about that beat.
I am sure you aware of all this Mart, just wanted to emphasise it again.

Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
Just messing around playing at work and a bit of NL5 HUDless. Got some great hands to show. Actually played pretty well but been stacked by flush over flush and just a second ago guy calls pre flop with Q5s. Flop comes Qxx rainbow and i cbet he calls. Turn is a diamond and i check behind to give up. River is the 3 of diamonds giving me a set, he leads i obviously raise because i cant put him on the flush. He calls and flips the rivered flush. Quality. May as well quit this ****.

Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
This is actually getting hillarious now. Just played another session where i feel i played pretty well and only dropped 1 buy in so now im down 6 buy ins in 1500 hands. It seems all people have to do is call a raise or 3bet pre and as long as i have an overpair they can flop a set. Really cant be arsed posting any hands it just seems a waste of time. So far this month im losing money with AA/KK, getting totally mullered with AK and losing money with sets, which ive come to expect tbh, cant even remember the last time i was on the right side of set over set. Keep this up and i should be broke by the end of this month.
And on life things im not sure if this is just variance but the date went well we got on great seeing each other again this coming week and things are going well. What happens today? The other lass who i liked now decides that she likes me. Had to tell her nothing can happen while something is going on with someone else. Talk about boot on other foot.

I think a lot of people did apart from me. I was a little bit shocked when she told me but told her nothing could happen. I think its just a case of wanting what she cant have and also not the only person getting my attention now. On the plus side the new girl seems really cool, loves her sport, likes to have fun and seems to have a lot of her **** together.
On the poker side of things i decided i would 20 table today. My thinking is that because i will have less time to think it will make me cut down on the number of hands im playing and the marginal spots that im getting myself in to. I tilted once during the 2 sessions that i played playing for about 4 hours in total and just over 4K hands. End result a +9 buy in day. Probably me just catching up on some run good but will see what happens next time i try but it gives me some cash to purchase table ninja and hopefully think about shot taking NL25 again pretty soon.

Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
+9 buy in result, chalk one up for the good guys sir!
I'm sure all the rest is just variance mate, as they say, and as you are doing, play through it.
Keep up the good work!

Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
Thanks lofcuk.
Just played another session 20 tabling and made another 3 buy ins running 17/14. It seems playing like that gives me more chance to fold in some marginal spots thus reducing tilt and probably reducing the variance that causes me to tilt. On the plus side i also managed to be on the right side of a set over set which seems like the first time in ages. On the negative side i have been cbetting around the 70% mark on the flop and am only getting folds 30% of the time which is really low and on the turn im at 50% with folds only 20% of the time. Im also getting crushed with AK as it seems any time i see a flop with it someone flops a set.
Oh well will try and keep playing like this and see what happens. BR stands at $570 so i guess i could shot take but may wait a few more days we will see.

Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
Just played some more NL5 HUDless and i just wonder if theres any way to stop people flopping sets and Full Houses against me in 3bet pots? 3 times on the bounce now when people call me they smash the flop. one of them was funny in that the flop comes 33J and decided to bet the flop, the turn is blank and gets checked through. River is the King and i decided to bluff at it. Villain insta calls with his JJ and i type in chat only call? He puts me on KK lol.
Seriously though it does seem that people hit an unrealistic amount of sets against me, gotta be due a turn of luck in that department. If i ever call with JJ OOP the flop is obviously AKQ.

Thanks.
Yeah not been on skype in ages, just been busy with work and stuff and just dont get the time i used to get so poker sort of on the back burner at the moment.
I probably dont run that bad but when i do it all comes at once. Was saying about bad flops but soon after those hands i flatted an EP raise in the BB with QQ. Of course the flop comes AKx. Typical.
All the best.
