Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
h1: Q is a bad turn card no? also A on the river cant rly be great for us either for when he has QQ/JJ/AQ/AJ, realistically we have to hope for some retarded KK/KQ. altho ofc i dnt knw his stats, im jst going through range/combos.
Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
It depends on villain of course, but hand 1 I'd just check-fold river against an unknown or most regs. I doubt he steals frequently at that point, and you're pretty much only getting called by stronger hands, except maybe KK. I think the turn c-bet seems fine(but again, I don't know villain stats)
Btw nice thread you got here, haven't read it all(yet), but will have a look here again.
Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
Tbh I like betting the Queen in the first hand and probably got carried away because I dont seem to hit many scare cards.
Thanks Coolossus.
What ya gonna do?
Not only do I hit the perfect card on the turn but the simple fact that the villain plays the flop so bad manages to get him paid off. I mean not raising this flop is terrible.
Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
Unless he got like 80% ftc-bet of decent samplesize, I would just check-fold flop. If you had an A or K of hearts it could be fine, maybe check-raise could be good in that scenario too, if you expect him to try to steal most of the time while not being a complete call-station.
As played, on turn: I doubt he will steal frequently at that point, I'd just fold to his raise, unless he is very loose/aggresive/high steal%.
Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
Yeah totally agree flop is a check/fold, was tilting a little bit at this point because at the moment im slamming in to the top of peoples ranges. I dont think I can fold when I hit the Ace on the turn though, although any AK with a Heart is free rolling me theres also a chance that he could float the flop with AQ and at a push AJ with good herats so im not in bad shape there.
Pretty tilting at the moment. Started a table this morning and played 4 hands against a short stacker whos Tens held against my AJ and he hit and run, cant seem to win a flip at the moment so the EV line looks good but the rest of the graph looks like a mountain range. It will turn around though.

Yeah YouFaiil called it, the shortie is actually a shorty reg who had increased his stack and opened pretty loose and has an extremely high fold to 3bet and its the BB who is a spazzy fish. Really it couldnt have gone down any better for me.
Been getting in some decent HU action when starting tables and justn trying to get used to how people play. On the whole the players im playing against are pretty bad and Im guessing wont be anywhere near as good as the same people playing HU tables at the same level.
Its also getting quite annoying that a couple of the players are opening multiple tables and then not offering action when I sit with them. So if the case is they dont want to play me they really shouldnt be allowed to have all those tables open and really should just have 1 and then it would be fair enough.
Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
surprising to see it at 25nl though, i'd think any decent reg would welcome the HU action as its unlikely they'll be any decent HU players and more likely its just another reg looking to start tables.
Re: Dont Be Scared - Rags To Bitches: A Story Of Triumph, Women, And Poker
It seems to be mostly the same ones starting tables at the same times through out the day. Most of them just wont play me which I guess is fair enough but if they only sat on one table and played a few hands then they would probably end up on better tables than they do sitting on 5 tables and only playing fish when they sit.
Thats probably one of the most frustrating things for me is that Im really only doing it to improve my HU and shorthand play so Im wanting to play as many regs as I can to try and learn how to play against them but when they do the fake table starting thing and wont offer action it gets annoying.
Anyway I had my second session with KnoxItAll tonight and again it was a really good session and the time seemed to fly by and we covered quite a lot of stuff and discussed a few places where Im leaking, some of them were quite subtle and although its not like major leaks or anything they will still cost me a lot over the long run. Again there was plenty of discussion over betsizing and I remember the first time I got coaching this was a big issue and although its improved quite a bit from then Im still not doing it as well as I should be. Ive also noticed the habit of auto tabling FR is going to be a tough one to break and I need to change my way of thinking a bit when making decisions.
Good session though and a 3rd one is booked for a couple of weeks time.
