Thanks yeah it's definitely very important. Staying active isn't the hard part for me because I love playing sports and I don't mind going to the gym. The really hard part for me is eating healthy. And it's not even because I don't like healthy foods, it's just because I have no clue how to cook and every time I try to cook food for myself I feel overwhelmed cuz I have no clue what I'm doing besides the very basics and it never tastes as good as when other people make it.

If anyone has any tips for how to get better at this stuff lemme know
Start out with simple stuff. Buy a good rice cooker. You can measure out exactly the appropriate amount of rice, water, and a tiny bit of olive oil or butter. Press the cook button. It comes out ready to eat in about 25 minutes. It's really, really easy and comes out perfect every time.
Your other option is to make baked potatoes. Literally just throw a russet(baking potato) in the oven, or even a toaster oven. When its crunchy on the outside it's ready. Break it open, throw some grass-fed butter in there and some salt/pepper. Another good carb source.
If you like chicken legs they are really easy to make. Also cheap and delicious. You just put them in a pyrex or other similar dish. Add olive oil, salt, pepper and any other spices you like on them. Roast them on like 425 until the skin is crispy brown.
Broiled steaks are easy, but maybe too dangerous if you are really bad at cooking. You can do them on the stovetop if you invest in a cast iron skillet.
For breakfast an egg in butter or olive oil with hash browns is good. You can buy pre-cut potatoes and just put them in a pan with olive oil until they are brown, then flip until the other side is brown. Or you can try and find some fresh baked bread if you like your eggs with toast. If you are really lazy/bad you can check the frozen section for hash browns you can just put in the toaster oven. I suggest going to an organic food store and buying the organic frozen stuff if you go that route. It's a lot higher quality but you will pay about 50%-100% more. Not that potatoes are expensive to begin with...
I'm 21 but have been cooking for about 10 years, so I've literally probably made a few thousand meals. I am mostly self taught and managed to mess up my fair share of meals. Eventually you get the hang of it. If you can learn some basic meals you can then work your way up from there.
If you learn to sauté some vegetables like onions or make steamed carrots that will really make your meals taste better. Sauteed vegetables in butter/olive oil go very well with rice. A great way to get in some good fats(yes, butter is good for you contrary to popular belief) and micronutrients and vitamins in veggies.
You can try and find some good peeled and deveined wild shrimp. They are easy to make in a pan on the stovetop. Just throw in some olive oil into a medium-hot pan, put in the shrimp, add crushed hot red pepper, black pepper, and salt. Flip them after about 30 seconds and finish with fresh lemon juice. This goes great on rice as well.
You can also make egg fried rice with shrimp/chicken/beef. You sautee some ginger with onions, scallions, and diced carrots. Brown that in oil, add in the white rice(it should be chilled from the day before), fry that together and add in a scrambled egg chopped finely along with any veggies you want like mushrooms or baby corn. Then have your protein ready from another pan and combine that in the wok. Add in some soy sauce, or a replacement one if you don't eat soy. Add salt/pepper/sesame seeds to taste. You can make this in bulk and eat it for a week. Cheap and delicious. Maybe too complicated for you but certainly something you should try. Cooking fresh food does not have to taste bad.
As with poker, you are going to suck at it for awhile. Eventually you will get the hang of it and I promise it's worth it. Few people nowadays can cook quality food.
Since you seem to be doing well financially, you should try buying fresh organic foods as much as possible. It's not only healthier but tastes a lot better.
