Hello boys and girls.

Some of you might know me but for those who dont, I am a 25 yo mtt-player from Finland. You can find me grinding midstakes tourneys on stars.eu/fr and FTP.

Background
I started playing mtts first time back in the early 2009 grinding microstakes and about 6 months later I was already playing the highest stakes mtts online. I was fortunate enough to win the first WCOOP event I ever played in 2009 and never really looked back.

Around late 2010 I went on a massive downswing and played less and less. Then the black friday happened and I realized that maybe online poker isn't forever and decided to go back to school.
Spoiler:
So I wasted 2 years getting a worthless degree, another 2 years trying to find a job and came back to poker.

I got the spark to play poker again last autumn when stars introduced the spin & go's. I grinded those and some plo zoom for a while before finally coming back to mtts.

Now
Unsurprisingly I have been going through a rough stretch since getting back to mtts. It took me a while to adapt since the games have changed quite a bit but I have gotten a lot better and lately I have been working with one of the best mtt players in the world.

This year I have had several deep runs in big tourneys without final tables. I have a 9th in a plo TCOOP 4max, 10th in the sunday kickoff, 17th in stars.fr 100k gtd, 24th in FTOPS 6max etc.
One could say I keep choking when it matters just like my beloved Tottenham Hotspurs.

lol volume i know

This downswing has affected my mental game which has always been my weakness. I must have carried over some emotional baggage or something from 2010-2011 which still greatly affects my game. Ever so often I find myself asking "why does this always happen to me?", after losing a standard flip/cooler, then I butcher a hand or two and 30 minutes later I have busted all my tables.

Jared Tendlers books gave me the inspiration to start this blog as I'd rather rage here about running bad than to my skype-list. I have read both of Jareds books but need to go over several chapters to fully understand what is going in my mind and what works for me. Hopefully soon I will be able to reach "the zone" regularly.

The plan is to grind through the downswing before SCOOP starts. I will keep my table-count to 6-8 (I usually play 8-12) and cut most of the turbos for a while. I will try to update this blog everytime after I'm done with my session as a part of my post-session cool-down routine, post some hands, workouts etc.

CLEAR EYES,
FULL HEARTS,
CANT LOSE.

Gl all.

Good Luck, Chop!

I still don't get how people can grind MTTs but to each their own, I guess.

So, instead of wishing you good hand reading skills (as you won't need those), I'll just say:

May the preflop equity be with you!

Terrible day today. Played ok but got coolered for heaps everywhere.

Ft bubbled the stars $55 15k after being 2/15. Lost a few flips then valuetowned myself vs a reg. I expected him to shove all Ax hands pre except maybe AA but guess he wont hero me often with J or a 7 after that river.

Had an amazing table in the SCOOP main high but couldnt get anything going then got rekt in the last level of the day.

Thanks for all the subs etc. and sorry for not updating.

I had to take the last 4 weeks off due to some unexpected real life commitments(not health-related thankfully) but am back on the grind as of sunday. It's been pretty hectic as our football season just started, and the UCL & NHL playoffs are going. I really love this time of the year.

Sunday went terribly, played like 20 tourneys and my only cash was in the ps.fr deepstack where I finished ~30th.

Played a shortish session yesterday and got 4th in triceratops. 4bet shoved 27bbs with a7s vs pkaisers aq, flopped diamond-sweat but unfortunately didnt get there.
The 6max plos were fun but I misplayed 2 hands then got it in with good equity 3way but bricked the world. http://www.boomplayer.com/poker-hand...925_18B1C09AD5

Gonna go over the triceratops & ps.fr hhs today, watch a few mixed games training vids and maybe fire up a small session while watching the UCL game.

Gl bros.

Done with the sunday grind already sigh. Started the day with a hangover but played well throughout the day, just ran absolutely horrible in every big pot as usual.

Spoiler:

Mincashed the 44d 6max and a mid SCOOP, plus won a seat to the .fr 500 6max KO but bricked that.

                Sup.

Having another nightmare week at the tables. I played on wednesday, thursday and today. Few deep runs but nothing to show for it, keep running terribly when it matters. Finished 20th in the big109 on wednesday, 42nd in the big75 and 12th in the hot11 just now. Also had a chance to make a deep run in the thursday 109pko SCOOP but got rekt in a couple of big pots, managed to still cash it.
                #whenwillitend?

Will go over few hhs to see if I can find anything atrocious. Huge day tomorrow though so need to hit the bed early. Playing the 1k main etc. would be cool to make day2.

                Few hhs from this week:

Dumb spot deep in the b109 vs vamooo reg, was going to call non-diamond turns.

spots like the 99 hand always make my stomach uneasy. Can folding be justified convincingly by any argument? I wonder 1. how +ev it is and 2. whether the variance of spots like that is worth the ev.

Gl, hope things turn around for you.

What did you have to do to adapt to 2015 mtts coming from a 2010 skillset?

Yeah, after some further thought its a pretty bad jam by me. Would be a bad spot for utg2 to go for a light steal because mp3 and btn are aggro and def capable 3b/folding. I think my range should be JJ+/AK.

Thanks man. I've been lurking your blog, nice heater

Defending the blinds wide is pretty clear #1. During the first month I got stacked several times by the BB with what I thought was absolutely terrible defend before I understood whats going on.

People floating and donk-leading is much more common these days. Also calling/isolating nash-ranges is something I've had to study a lot. Back in the day I just watched a few training vids per month and only went through hhs during downswings, now I try to study almost as much as I play.

Pretty sure I managed to win one $18.75 bounty in the 82d 6max PLO.
I'm afraid it doesnt quite cover todays buyins.
                        Great stuff.
