Hello PG&C!!!

It has been about 3 months since the end of the main event and I decided to bring my first and to my surprise somewhat popular blog/thread here in PG&C.

For those of you who do not know my background, I used to be a 180 man grinder pre Black Friday but struggled playing 100bbs post BF so ended up getting a real job as a car sales man. After 2 years of having a tough but successful career I decided I wanted to experience the freedom of being a live poker pro.

So I quit in February 2013 after spending 3-4 months really studying hard on deeper stack play, what really turned my game around was Ed Miller's Playing the Player, opened my eyes to a lot of things. My last day of work I created a PG&C thread, funny thing is that I said in it I had 4k to my name, I believe I had 2200 and a 2 week promise to my gf if I didn't make 1500 then I had to go find another job.

I wasn't a complete idiot and had another car job lined up if I fell on my face, but was lucky enough to have a huge 2/5 session and everything just kind of took off from there.

Anyways, I have decided to come back and create another thread because I missed yall so much...kinda. It's mainly because over the last 2 weeks I feel like I have turned the page in my game. I'm playing a completely different game than I was even a month ago let alone a year ago. And for the first time in my life I'm actually putting in work off of the table instead of just talking over hands and thinking about them (talking hands with people who are better than you is one of the most effective study tools imo).

My goal starting from October 1 is to have a $105/hr+ win rate at 2/5. I think that this is an achievable goal, currently after ~1500 hours only at 2/5 I have a win rate of $76/hr, but in the last month it has jumped thru the roof and I do not believe it to be completely attributed to the + side of variance.

I've been putting in a decent amount of time at the 5/T table with some mixed results, I've had some really big wins but also some pretty tough losses where I keep seeming to get coolered (top 2 v bottom set, set over set, flush over flush). I can probably pump out a 140/hr at 5/T but there are so much greater swings. Where an extra $40/hr is pretty big in terms of financial advancement I do think there is a lot to be said for just getting lay ups all day for long term sustainability. So I will be sticking to 2/5 for the time being with some very selective 5/T sessions mixed in.

Also I have had some pretty good mtt success this year, which included a runner up finish at the Council Bluffs WSOPc main event to Blair Hinkle (had the sicko all in for his life 4 times and lost a flip on the 5th all in) for my largest score of ~56k. MTTs are like crack to me and I enjoy doing a little bit of traveling to tap my veins and get my fix in. Goal #2 is going to be to get my first and ever elusive 6 figure tournament score.

I have quite the schedule coming up for October going cross country for 4 different stops. I am going to be that guy and take lots of chip porn pics and post them here (iPhone 6 camera is incredible!!) for your enjoyment...the title of the thread is Chip Porn Extravaganza so guess I need a few pics in here.

Anyway it should be a fun ride and I'm looking forward to keeping this new thread up to date.

Unfortunately yes, it's an mtt staking deal so I can play mtts up to 3k and with consideration 5k and possibly 10k (depending on circumstances...already play 2 10ks under them as backers) but I had to give up cash action as a variance killer for them to be on board with the higher variance of bigger buyin MTTs.

Currently our deal is they the Choctaw WSOPc main event...so once that gets here we will reevaluate what everything looks like and goes from there.

Lol I have no idea how tips even got put in my poker income...but I do think I am going to try and keep track of them. I'm not the best tipper but I think I still tip a little too much. Good friend of mine made a good point of how he brings his own water from home instead of tipping $5/day for water.

On the brighter side at least I didn't challenge myself starting today and everything starts October 1...including a prop bet of me hitting the $105/hr mark over 4 months or after 400 hours.

Ugh, guy to my right started saying how him and his wife just sold their house to move to Vegas for him to be a poker pro. Man I hope it's a level bc this guy will get torn up out there.

Really enjoyed the chip porn in your last PG&C. You should probably post a few of those from your last PG&C as examples for new guys of what to come.

Yeah 105 would be pretty epic, I know I can sustain a $90/hr+ but $105 would be 2/5 hall of fame lol

Well it's nothing special but sitting on $1500 in for $500 so thought this would be the initial chip porn to start today off...not bad tho with losing a $1k pot with AA to TT on an 8 high board all in on flop
