nice thread. I like how you focus on the process and not just the stats.

Are you using Holdem indicator?
Yes. I think it's helpful. Tho I do find myself relying on it too much sometimes instead of watching the hands that I'm not in.

May didn't go so well:

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

The 1st half rocked. 2nd half I crashed and burned. Lotta run bad--KK<AA type stuff. Still, I have to learn how to play better. Part of my development is knowing what to do but developing habits so that I actually play correctly. The rest is learning new things. Learning how to play hands better by posting them is one way to achieve the latter.

BR 670

Guess I will pick this thread back up after a 3 month break from poker. GF and I went to Vegas two weeks ago--a trip I didn't even want to do. I got sucked into going. If I were good at poker and had the BR to play live I might have wanted to go. Anyway, I went, the weather was beautiful (it was like gray-skied 50 in Wisconsin where I live at that time), was pleased to see palm trees and impressive buildings. Oh, and there was live poker at the hotel where I stayed as well as seemingly every casino w/in walking distance. I played a bit, but didn't have the BR to take cash seriously. Did win a 16 player 60 dollar tourney tho.

So this thread. Deposited 415 on Bovada over the past two weeks. Actually started at 5NL, got really bored and deposited what I thought was enough to play 10NL. Got bored w/10NL and started mixing in some 25NL. Now I'm mostly playing 25NL w/a 50NL table mixed in at times.

What do I want to work on most of all? Maintaining life balance. What do I mean? I had off of work the past 3 days and played a **** ton. Maybe 30 hours. Prob more like 25. Still, Tuesday morning (yesterday) I was pretty burnt out, my head spinning. I didn't get much sleep and had to watch my 2 yr old daughter. I resorted to have her watch Netflix pretty much the entire time. This is wrong. Sure I can think of worse things a human being can do to another, a parent to a child. If you read the news you come across a lot of bad ****. However, I am passionate about being a dad, I enjoy it and I felt like an ***hole for playing while I almost encouraged her to watch TV. So if I find that I cannot control my playing time, if I cannot plan out my week ahead of time and more or less (prob less) follow said plan then I will once again withdraw my monies, cease to play, and cease to thread (sorry readers).

Btw, I prob won't play much until Sunday. I have a vague plan to play mainly Sunday thru Tuesday as I usually have 2-3 of those days off. Plus, Sunday the games are supposedly good. Hope to look over some hands btwn now and then to better examine mistakes and prepare to not make those mistakes next time around.

I forgot to say that 3 months ago I cashed out at ~1370. Started at 415 this time around so +255.

BR 523

Had BR up to 700 at one point yesterday b4 playing foolishly and mostly spewing down to 523. Only got 3-4 hours of sleep and was doing fine for ~2h, but after that I had trouble holding my head up and of course made some poor decisions. I played 3 50NL tables bc I was bored w/25NL. Thought about quitting poker. I will set a goal that I think will help me maintain a poker/life balance that sets me up for success in the long term. I like to play a **** ton bc it helps to counter variance and it gives me lots of experience, which I need. At times, like last week, I have the energy to put in 30 hours in the span of 2-3 days. I feel pretty burnt out the days following that though. Also, I put off responsibilities when I play that much in a week.

Goals:

[] Play <= 8 hours the rest of this week

[] Post >= 2 hands that I think are opportunities to learn something here and/or in micro

I already prob played 4-5 h and I'm thinking that 12 h per week should be my limit so that my life doesn't get out of balance. This is so against how I normally do things. I like to obsess about things and I think that it has helped many a poker player get better. Really tho I don't like how I feel the days after a 30 h poker binge. Just sort of spewing thoughts here. I'm not great at accomplishing goals but it doesn't cost me much so there they are. My hope is to limit playing time each week while playing my A-game as much as I can during those limited hours. Also, I hope to learn as much as I can from hands I find troubling and by reading and studying outside of the 12 playing h.

Not sure if I should have called river. I looked at the AF 7.0 and called. Only 17 hands tho. Also, don't know that much about AF to know if that logic holds up if we had more hands on V. I usually like to catch Villain bluffing or at least see that villain's betting patterns make it look like villain is incorporating some bluffs. I don't know much about bluffing, but this doesn't seem like a bluffing spot anyway.

In the middle of a session right now. Taking a break as I got disconnected and was about to break anyway to jot down a couple mistakes. First, I raised w/JJ on a 2 tone JTTJ b and V folded. Prob shoulda called and raised river. Second, I misclicked and burned 14. 3rd I called .75 in SB w/J8s vs nitty V in CO--regretted burning the .75 immediately after.
