ok, just had an absolutely awful session. Didn't check results (fml so hard) but think i lost about 4k.

I thought it would be a good idea due to the action being dry as hell to play some 400 hu vs someone who is WAY better than me. Safe to say it did not end well.

Rather forget about that session. Was horrendous.

The famous d7o1d1s0 is coming for a visit tonight so will not be playing again today.

I like the 3b with 87s but I think xf flop is vastly superior to barrelling off. Sucks to xf a gs HU but this board is better for villains range and gives us a tonne of RIO (he should have all 16 combos of KQ, 2 or 4 combos of Q8s, and freerolling 87cc and 87ss on some 9x turns)

edit: I think this may also be a good hand to put into your turn xc range but I'm not exactly sure what I would do in-game

Yeah I was thinking the exact same on 87, who were you playing?
Also on the not checking results grind, kind of tough but think it helps, you never have a point of reference so you're not like 'omfg I was up 1k earlier and now it's only 200' etc which I do a lot, just get annoyed when I'm belo month peak etc

Cheers for the feedback on the hand both of you. I'm still pretty unsure, like woolly seems to be too what the actual optimal line is. I don't think i'll be dipping into hu again any time soon though! Also I don't think it's fair to say who it was in the hand tbh.

So much agreement with the 1k up, then swinging down and hating life so much. Definitely feel like that when it happens although i am really used to it by now!

        ---

So today was weird not checking results. I was making notes of interesting hands as i went along to make sure i had some stuff to post in here. I'm pretty sure i went down about 1k right at the start but no idea where things went from there. Played some 1k, won a bit, then ran up some big stacks at 600 too so we'll see at the end of the month!

vs tag reg. He's cbetting into me, another reg and a passive fish in the SB. Thoughts pls:

I'd raise flop with fish in the pot with 66 if he's really bad.

                  As played, don't slowroll?

Think he can sometimes turn up with some A3cc and A3ss combos.

Last night was a lot of fun and i've been absolutely shattered all day/evening. Still managed to put in a decent session. Still haven't checked results and tbh it's killing me. The temptation is unreal. The one thing i've noticed is that i haven't gone through any patch of tilt like i usually would when checking results and this is a real first for me. Long may it continue.

Ben, I like the idea that you will be checking results less often and focusing less on winning sessions or being up for the day and I try to do similar.

However, having tried this myself do you not think that not checking for a month is going from one extreme to the other? When I did this I found it started to weigh on my mind more and more as the month progressed and it seemed to breed a lot of paranoia about how I might be doing.

My results were actually very good that month as I prob benefited from not having either winners or losers tilt. But I felt like a month was too long so I usually go for once a week or fortnightly now.

I'll go til mid July without checking then see how I feel.

i have a little trick i use with regards to reducing tilt and i call it the "one buy-in rule". i leave when i'm up at least a buy-in to protect my winnings and ensure i don't lose it all again. i also leave when i'm down a buy-in so i don't go on hate-losing tilt and start splashing around in pots i shouldn't be in. works every time

The idea is not at all bad, but why not make it 3 buy-ins both sides instead if 1? Shouldn't hurt you too much either and allows you to play longer sessions.

Flat AQ btn vs Co vs a good reg? The 4bet pot with AQ also has to be fine imo, can pretty much do what you want there postflop (although I think there is a lot of merit to checking river too depending how you call 4bets pre)

That is an absolutely horrible strat. If you're worried about tilt after winning or losing a buyin this only addresses the symptoms, not the underlying cause. Sort out your mental game and you'll do well as you must have some discipline if you could leave an amazing game!

Yes, it's been said a thousand times: while it can be helpful to set a stop-loss, setting a stop-win is guaranteeing that you'll make less money in the long run. Crazy.

ok guys i'll start extending my stop loss to 3 buyins then. maybe i'll reach a point where i can even handle a 5 buyin swing in a session but that might be going a bit too crazy lol
