Re: Always forward. Journey into poker world, from 10NL to MSNL
Played a little bit of poker in two last days, again been somewhat card dead so was forced to take some creative lines during my play and booked 4 small winning sessions for a total of +2.5BI
Also watched probably around 10 videos over the span of 2 days. Realized some turning point for myself, I need to work on patience, if I can do it than I will be able to cash at poker. All this time I been concentrating on developing my poker, but the problem is not the outer game but the inner one (figuratively speaking).
Played today freeroll Caribbean adventure satellite, was card dead entire 2.5 hours but chose my spot wisely and done fairly well, came all the way to the 13 place (10 first get free ticked to tournament), was fourth in chip lead on my table, and like an idiot instead of sitting and waiting until 3 more people will get kicked, went all in with JJ, and got busted. (Talking about patience)
Biggest winning hand:
The villain was 44/19 with 3bet of 17%, I guess that's explains why he had an urge to shove his remaining $15 stack into middle of table lol
Turn: ($2.25) 7 (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets $1.39, SB raises to $15.07 and is all-in, BB folds, Hero calls $8.60
River: ($22.23) K (2 players, 1 is all-in)
Spoiler:
Results: $22.23 pot ($1.10 rake)
Final Board: 9 9 4 7 K
Hero showed 7 7 and won $21.13 ($10.39 net)
SB showed 8 9 and lost (-$10.74 net)
BB mucked and lost (-$0.75 net)
Worst played hand:
Villain is 33/21 cbet on flop is 80%, but cbet on turn is only 5%, I think floating flop is definitely ok, floating turn is questionable and is neutral EV at best, river however is 100% fold.
Re: Always forward. Journey into poker world, from 10NL to MSNL
Played three sessions in 2 last days, yesterday one and today two. Yesterday was breakeven, but today made +2.5BI and played very well getting away from my weak hands and extracting maximum value on my strong holdings.
Was also running good and hit runner on river twice which is of course helps. However, most of the winnings came from fighting over smaller pots and picking them up.
I becoming less impulsive and more disciplined and execute better.
Pre Flop: ($0.15) Hero is UTG with K K
Hero raises to $0.30, 1 fold, CO calls $0.30, BTN calls $0.30, 2 folds
Flop: ($1.05) 2 5 T (3 players)
Hero bets $0.70, CO raises to $1.60, BTN folds, Hero raises to $4.44, CO raises to $8.95 all in, Hero calls $4.23 all in
Turn: ($18.39) A (2 players - 2 are all in)
River: ($18.39) K (2 players - 2 are all in)
Final Pot: $18.39
CO shows 5 5 (three of a kind, Fives)
Hero shows K K (three of a kind, Kings)
Hero wins $17.48
(Rake: $0.91)
Re: Always forward. Journey into poker world, from 10NL to MSNL
Happy New Year to everyone!
I know I have not been updating my thread for long time now, but it is a beginning of new year and it feels like a right thing to do :-)
I am still at 10NL, and last year been quite embarrassing for me, I felt like I finally solidified my game enough to be consistent winner (been steadily winning non stop in the last month of 2011), but than decided to go on poker marathon in 3 last days of December, played around 25 hours of non stop poker (only short washroom breaks), and ended up losing my entire roll.
This never happened to me before, and quite good lesson not to do it in future. Ended up reloading and depositing $200 and planning to grind it now without doing anything stupid.
Another thing is, my attitude is changed, I don't take poker anymore like second income and don't really worry about moving up, I decided to play it as a hobby and just concentrate on game itself rather than on results, and saw huge huge improvements in my play, I literally think about every single decision I make while being in a hand.
So I am not going to post previous year graph as it is too embracing, instead I will post graph of how I started this year.
Preflop: Hero is SB with A A
UTG raises to $0.40, MP folds, CO calls $0.40, BTN folds, Hero raises to $1.65, BB folds, UTG calls $1.25, CO calls $1.25
Flop: ($5.05) 5 4 3 (3 players)
Hero bets $5.05, UTG folds, CO raises to $7.40 and is all-in, Hero calls $2.35
Turn: ($19.85) 2 (2 players, 1 is all-in) River: ($19.85) 9 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
Results: $19.85 pot ($0.98 rake)
Final Board: 5 4 3 2 9
CO showed 2 2 and lost (-$9.05 net)
Hero showed A A and won $18.87 ($9.82 net)
UTG mucked and lost (-$1.65 net)
Re: Always forward. Journey into poker world, from 10NL to MSNL
Been super tired today and did not play my usual stakes, but ended up purchasing PT3 and got code for PT4 (very impressed so far), so played 2NL while configuring hud and range colors barely putting attention, did not book any significant win, but it is ridiculous how easy 2NL are.
Re: Always forward. Journey into poker world, from 10NL to MSNL
Playing tired and on cold is never good thing, but I so wanted to put some hands today. Ended up playing my C game and losing -2BI in span of like 3.5 hours, most of spews actually in the first hour, after that break even because of few hero calls that were completely not needed.
Re: Always forward. Journey into poker world, from 10NL to MSNL
Just checked my VPP, and it appears that with WC rake method I am getting about 10-15% less VPP for the same amount of hands (I play like 21/18 style).
1) villain is 48/0, it is his first pre flop raise after about 21 hands
PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 5 players Hand converted by PokerTracker 4
UTG raises to $0.30, fold, fold, fold, Hero raises to $0.95, fold, UTG raises to $5.41 and is all-in, Hero calls $4.46
Flop:($10.92, 2 players) 2 2 2
Turn:($10.92, 2 players) 7
River:($10.92, 2 players) A
Hero shows K K (Full House, Twos full of Kings) (Pre 81%, Flop 91%, Turn 95%) UTG shows 6 6 (Full House, Twos full of Sixes) (Pre 19%, Flop 9%, Turn 5%) Hero wins $10.38
3) Biggest pot for the session, villain is reg and I am surprised to see 23 there, imho on flop I decided he can only have set of 3's here, because I am sure he would 3bet JJ pre flop.
Flop:($0.60, 3 players) 2 J 3 SB bets $0.60, BB calls $0.60, Hero raises to $2.26, SB raises to $10.04 and is all-in, fold, Hero calls $6.82 and is all-in
Turn:($1.47, 2 players) K Hero bets $0.91, CO calls $0.91
River:($3.29, 2 players) 4 Hero bets $2.19, CO raises to $4.38, Hero calls $2.19
CO shows T 9 (Straight, King High) (Pre 35%, Flop 29%, Turn 91%) Hero mucks K J (Two Pair, Kings and Jacks) (Pre 65%, Flop 71%, Turn 9%) CO wins $11.46
5) Another badly played hand, villain is fairly aggresive pre flop and is 80/30 with 3bet of 20% (saw him 4beting with A4s lol), but very passive post flop and has AF of 0.6 and WWSF 25%, it is again an easy fold and 9 is easily part of his range.
