Hi,

I'm Andreas, 28 year old from Denmark.

2013

2013 was a year where I took up playing "serious" poker again after a hiatus of a couple of years. I had played until 2010 but in 2010 I moved to London to study and found I didn't have much time to play poker on the side. So I stopped playing "serious" poker and just fooled around online with mixed games and played the occasional live session at the Vic. Prior to me stopping I had played up to 200 NL.

After moving back to Denmark I found I had more time to play so I started out again. Not sure how I would fare in the tougher 2013 climate I started at the bottom:

I played some 10 NL:

And some 25 NL:

And some 20 NL WTF :

And some 50 NL:

And some 100 NL:

And some 200 NL:

For a combined total 2013 graph:

2014

But enough about last year, let's look forward to 2014!

Poker:

I plan on moving the bulk of my play to Stars as I will get supernova and that seems to be the point where the stars rewards program start to perform well.

Hopefully I can become a decent winner at 200 NL and move up further as the year progress. I haven't really decided if I want to play zoom or reg tables, I'll guess I'll have to figure that out as I go along.

I'll like to get in some more hands, 600k in 2014 seems like a decent goal. It should also be around 300k vpps so that would be a good goal to aim for I think. I know 600k may not be a lot to some, but it will be more than I have ever played in a year before.

As for non-poker:

I promised in the title I would climb a mountain and I do intent to give it a try. The goal is to get to the top of this big rock:

Exact dates are to be decided but most likely in the fall of 2014. I've never been up in such heights and have no idea how it will effect me. But that is basically part of the challenge. And I think it will be a cool thing to do and a more interesting way to spend a vacation than just vegetating at a beach somewhere. For those that aren't that familiar with mountains, that is Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain located in Tanzania

While I don't necessarily think I need to get in better shape than I currently am in, in order for me to climb Kilimanjaro, as how you react to thin air is going to be the major physical test, I would still like to lose some weight and get in overall better shape and health.

And lastly, as I am currently unemployed I would like to get a proper job. While I may be able to make a decent amount at poker (is yet to be seen over prolonged periods) I would prefer to have poker as a secondary income and get a stable income from an ordinary job. I'll be damned if I have spend that much time at universities only in order for me to not getting to use what I've learnt. So hopefully I can manage to get a decent, ordinary job as well in 2014. It may cut a bit into my poker time, but then so be it.

Thanks for reading. I hope people will enjoy and comment as the thread progress during the year.

Andreas

Good luck, AE! Several years ago my wife did a trip to Kenya and has been dying to go back to the area ever since... so if you enjoy the trip even half as much as she did, then it will be a great vacation.

yeah, no idea what happened there. just an indicator of how flawed small samples can be I guess (or maybe I really can't beat 20 NL )

cheers. Not just looking for a job for the novelty of it. Stability and money are also a nice thing.

So this was literally my first hand of the year:

Poker Stars, $1/$2 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite. View Hand #22075391

    BTN: $214.57 (107.3 bb)
    SB: $260.14 (130.1 bb)
    Hero (BB): $200 (100 bb)
    UTG: $294.26 (147.1 bb)
    MP: $311.93 (156 bb)
    CO: $543.95 (272 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K A
UTG raises to $6, MP folds, CO raises to $16, BTN folds, SB raises to $45, 2 folds, CO raises to $110, SB calls $65

    Flop: ($228) 8 7 Q (2 players)
SB bets $150.14 and is all-in, CO calls $150.14

    Turn: ($528.28) 7 (2 players, 1 is all-in)
    River: ($528.28) A (2 players, 1 is all-in)

    Results: $528.28 pot ($2.80 rake)
    Final Board: 8 7 Q 7 A
SB showed K K and lost (-$260.14 net)
    CO showed A A and won $525.48 ($265.34 net)

Get the Flash Player to use the Hold'em Manager Replayer.

And that was a good indication of my first session. Dodged the first one but had a bunch of other AK vs AA/KK that I couldn't get away from.

Managed to get back to even the next day so after a bit of a rocky start I'm getting ready to play the weekend grind. GL all

Just a quick update over my weekend play.

Results were good. I would have liked to play a bit more, but with NFL playoffs taking a bunch of my playing time it wasn't to be.
