He all, I'm Fozzema and I'm new to the forums.

This PG&C thread is gonna be my motivation for getting that discipline to good bankrollmanagement and keep learning.. I'm playing 5NL regular on Pokerstars. I play poker for 4 years and never really made a profit yet.

Longterm goals:
- Keep learning from mistakes and develop solid pokerskill.

Goal for the first week:
- Play no more then 4 tables at a time.
- Don't freak out when losing a buyin or get sucked out.
- Take breaks when feeling distracted or bored.
- No monetary or volume goals.

So you are playing for 4 years, never made profit and yet your goals do not include improving your game with studying?

Hey, thanks man.

I've been trying to come up with an answer, but can't really get it done.
I played zoom, I think I'm just more comfortable at the regular tables I guess.

Summary Days 1-3:
So the first three days went okay. I haven't played more then 4 tables and I
didn't freak out when losing a buyin.
I didn't took a break a couple of times when I was a little bit bored. So, that needs work. I'm constantly checking my profit and my graph in HoldemManager, which
is something I don't want to be doing, so that's gonna be my main focus in the next couple of sessions.

Played so far:
Days: 3
Sessions: 6
Hands: 2.598
Time at the table: 6 hours.

Summary Day 4:

Annoying start of the day, lost 3BI and tilted another BI when calling an preflop allin with AQo. Then stopped playing.
Altough I want to lie to myself by saying, it's no big deal, I'm not tilting, it's only a couple of BI...
I am tilting, and I'm only 3 days in the challenge, and only ~3k hands.
I won't play anymore today, maybe with a fresh mind I'll start again tomorrow.
Also the book I ordered got delivered today, The Poker Mindset by Ian Taylor & Matthew Hilger. Maybe I'm gonna read that for a couple of days.

Played so far:
Days: 4
Sessions: 9
Hands: 3.361
Time at the table: 8 hours.

Summary Day 5:
Today was a good day. In the morning I told myself I'm gonna play the whole day, short and long breaks included ofcourse. I made a schedule for myself, and sticked to it. Played a maximum of 4 tables, don't tilted after a BI lost, and didn't look at Holdem Manager during a session once!

My goal of taking breaks when distracted or bored still needs work. I sometimes startup Firefox to browse the forum etc... So I think I can handle more then 4 tables for next week.

Played so far:
Days: 5
Sessions: 12
Hands: 6.089
Time at the table: 14 hours.

GL and subbed!

Why you don't add 2 more tables to get less bored?

Summary Day 6 - 7:
I've played a couple of session, nothing much really. Tilted a couple of times.
I really need to fold more on the river. Played a maximum of 4 tables, so that goal is reached, and I didn't made any volume or monetary goals. The other two goals need practice more.

Played so far:
Days: 7
Sessions: 15
Hands: 7.625
Time at the table: 17 hours.

Goals Previous Week: (Week 1)
- Play no more then 4 tables at a time.
- Don't freak out when losing a buyin or get sucked out.
- Take breaks when feeling distracted or bored.
- No monetary or volume goals.

Goals This Week: (Week2)
- Play no more then 6 tables at a time.
- Don't freak out when losing a buyin or get sucked out.
- Take breaks when feeling distracted or bored.
- Fold more.
- Study concepts on the forum.

Hey man, thanks.

Yeah, it's cause it was one of my goals, I put it up there for a reason, so didn't want to break it! But I feel confident I can handle 2 more tables now. We'll see.

Summary Day 7 - 9:
Playing hasn't been great. I didn't feel playing much of the day. I certainly wanted to play, so I started in the morning (yesterday and today), but after a couple of hunderd hands I just got in hands I couldn't fold. Maybe I'm to curious what they have, or tend to "not believe" players if they're raising or tripple barreling me.

As for as my goals go: I played 6 tables but didn't play enough to get an honest opinion on how that went. I did get frustrated again when losing a couple of allin hands. Taking breaks when feeling distracted and bored actually starting to work. I don't play when I don't feel like playing, so that's where I want it to be. I still can't fold enough. I read a couple of pages in The Poker Mindset, and did read some interesting things on the forums.

Played so far:
Days: 9
Sessions: 17
Hands: 8.787
Time at the table: 19 hours.

Goals This Week: (Week2)
- Play no more then 6 tables at a time.
- Don't freak out when losing a buyin or get sucked out.
- Take breaks when feeling distracted or bored.
- Fold more.
- Study concepts on the forum.

Example of a hand I can't get out of, but don't like to even call on the flop after I get x/r:

Poker Stars $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em - 5 players
Hand History Converter

BB: $3.09
UTG: $5.00
Hero (CO): $5.00
BTN: $5.20
SB: $12.58

Pre Flop: ($0.07) Hero is CO with A Q
1 fold, Hero raises to $0.15, 1 fold, SB calls $0.13, 1 fold

Flop: ($0.35) 3 4 A (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $0.20, SB raises to $0.57, Hero calls $0.37

Turn: ($1.49) K (2 players)
SB bets $1.15, Hero calls $1.15

River: ($3.79) 2 (2 players)
SB bets $10.71 all in, Hero calls $3.13 all in

Spoiler:
Final Pot: $10.05
Hero shows Ad Qh (a pair of Aces)
SB shows 3c 3d (three of a kind, Threes)
SB wins $9.63
(Rake: $0.42)

Flop:
I always immediatly think: Villain wants to see if I really have that Ace, well guess what, I do have that ace, so I'm gonna call.
Turn:
Yeah, ofcourse he's gonna try a second barrel because I didn't raise my Ace/good kicker on the flop.
River:
Well, I've called 2 streets with only my Ace, my hand is still as strong/weak as on the flop, so I have to call for the last couple of dollars.

Anybody got some tips to get this out of my system?

I know the answer is to "fold more". But how can I set my mind to do that?

I used to have the same problem, even the line of thinking was actually very similar. When I`m tilted or run bad I have tendencies to revert to that.

What I gathered from all the "how to beat micro stakes" kinds of threads is:
-when villain shows too much strength for no apparent reason, you`re beat
-whenever you`re (check) raised and are not holding nuts, you`re beat
-they don`t double or triple barrel with air
-they aren`t bluffing as much as you think

SB just called here, so my guess would be that all small PP are in his range, so are a lot of Ax which by checkraise on flop would indicate either 2p or set to me (did not check the spoiler so don`t know). He showed a lot of aggression and took the initiative from you on the first street, you have a TPGK. Is that really a good reason to stack off with it?

I`m sure there will be someone a LOT better qualified than me to answer this, just my two cents on what kind thinking helps me.

@Hublee

All of these points are correct Most micro players just don't bluff alot. When they show strength, just fold your TPTK

Thank you for these tips Hublee and D0nkShove, I'll just put these on my desktop where I can see them when I'm playing!

Maybe gonna do a little session later today!

That's no problem.

VPIP 16.8 | PFR 12.7 | 3BET 4.52 | WTSD% 29.5 | W$SD% 58.5 | AGG% 32.7

What do you think?

Is it possible to see your stats in what positions you're playing in?

You've been playing longer than I have but I've been studying really hard and luckboxing the material I need to learn whenever I'm on here.

When I started I was playing super nitty, like 10 VPIP. I then started learning about my image, and the type of villains that pay attention to my image vs the ones that don't. Where do I cbet? What opponents do I beat betting three streets of value with TPTK? You won't often get paid off because of your image, but I found I was ok with that. I used that opportunity to learn the mentality of my opponents, and how to exploit it.

An art I'm still very green at.

My guess is that you are not playing enough in position, and not playing aggressively enough postflop. Your aggression factor seems low. You might also be calling down a few too many spots with the second best hand, I'm also guessing that there's more money in the pot when you lose than when you win?

Please take my words with a grain of salt, Im just doing my best to help. If there is anyone that can add to what I'm saying or seeing what I say as horrible advice, please help out!
